Loved this truck but its not what I thought, this truck is made for someone who wants to have fun, go off roading, get it muddy, and make it look cool. It's easy to ride but a bumpy and fun ride!Feb 20, 2013

Bought my Tacoma brand new in 2002, it has over 200,000 miles on it but you could never tell it. It still looks fantastic and handles great. Very durable. You can guarantee that my next truck will be another Toyota Tacoma !Sep 10, 2012

I have over maintained my truck just to see how long it will last. Got 160,000 miles and never misses a beat. Looks and runs like I just drove it off the showroom floor - which I did back in 2001! Jun 19, 2012

I always liked the simple look of the truck, white exterior and gray interior. For a truck, it gets really good gas mileage and maintenance was always so simple, I did oil changes and tune ups myself. I also have never had trouble passing smog, that's a huge plus. I've never tried towing with the truck, so I just gave a 3 star rating since the power is there.May 24, 2012

Has strut spacer up front with ProComp 16" black allow wheels wrapped in Toyo Open country All-Terrain 265/75-16 tires. I switched out the backlight of the gauge cluster from orange to White. Has Alpine iPod-ready stereo wired to 1600watt amp that is custom installed behind back seat that connects to a 12' Kicker CVT sub behind driver seat.Aug 03, 2010

Build quality is amazing as usual with Toyota's. Love the performance, it takes off and handles like a little go-kart. Cost of ownership would be almost nothing if I didn't customize it as much as I did/will do. Really happy with the appearance as I love the color. I LOVE driving it! Hoping to add a lot more too it in the future; 33 inch tires (that I don't have to steal off our Tundra), sliders, stinger bumper, rear offroad bumper, and who knows what!Dec 01, 2009

Has held up well for over 150k miles with some minor repairs. Paint is a little pealy on the bumper but overall in good shape. This truck has been ridden hard and used for moving many items. The appearance is very average for a pick up truck (nothing fancy). I like the black color for this little truck. The cab is not very roomy but adequate for 2 passengers. It has held up well for it's 8 years through very severe Wisconsin winters. Has been left parked outdoors for it's whole life and has always started like a champ.Sep 26, 2009

Performacnce was great with acceleration, breaking not so much, great handling. It only needed repairs when I totaled the car, and it was still golden even after the wreck. The appearance of the car is well, a truck and is cool. The inside of the truck was well maintained, and it is still in great condition. Gas mileage was not too great, 18mph on average, and maintenance was not bad, only the required maintenance was ever needed besides the wreck. The car was great to drive and if I ever buy a pick up again, I'm going straight to the Toyota Tacoma.Sep 20, 2009

Rock solid, reliable, and decent gas mileage (with the 2.7L)! I've had this truck for a few years now and have taken it on some serious off roading with no real problems. If it's good enough for the Taliban it's good enough for my Minnesota excursions!Aug 26, 2009

Gets 22mpg, strong V6 engine, 4wd with offroad package. Sound sounds great! comfort is good, quality is great. Put 110,000 miles on the truck and have only needed to change the battery. No complaints here other than the fact that the TRD offroad package makes the truck ride a little rough.Jul 09, 2009

I love this truck because it's versatile, able to haul most things that the average person needs to haul, the gas mileage is that of the average car, about 26-30mpg and because I have the extended cab I can haul more than two people if the need arises. It has been very low maintenance, just the usual upkeep and one break job so far and I have almost 130000 miles on it so far. It has good get up and go though the engine is a little small when it comes to pulling over high mountains. It maxes out at about 55-60mph if the grade is really steep. Other than that though I don't have any complaints about it's abilities. I have driven it hard out in the woods on logging roads and it preforms beautifully, never really complaining as we snake over water bars and bumpy roads! I also like that I can turn off the passenger airbag so if I have older children or shorter people in the car I can feel safe having them ride in the front seat. Dec 15, 2008

My 96 tocoma is the truck i have always wanted. It has real good acceleration for a stock 3.4 liter v6. It brakes good except it tries to lock up on really hard braking. It handles really good considering it has an 6 inch suspension lift and 33 inch bfgoodwich mud terrian km2 tires. It runs great never had a problem doesnt shake or squeak. Its interior is just like brand new. The exterior is really good shape also. It gets around 14 mpg with the lift and bigger tires. The truck is really fun to drive it looks good sounds good and has a bad system with two solo baric kicker 12's and a 1800 watt kenwood class d mono amp.Aug 27, 2008

A. the trailing edge of the flimsy hood vibrates wildly at certain engine speeds making a hideous rattling sound.Apparently, the geniuses at toyota can't seem to find the right size rubber support to cushion the hood.I fixed it though.
B. I go through front brake pads ( the right front wears much faster that the left) every 22,000 miles. According to the dealer there is nothing wrong. According to independent service shops, all toyota trucks have front calipers that are exceptionally prone to sticking and wearing the pads prematurely. The calipers have to be cleaned and lubricated every 6000 miles or so to prevent them from sticking.
C. good luck getting anything covered under the toyota warranty.
