It was a hot rod. We figured that it made almost 700 HP with the bored 454
and the dual 4barrel carb set-up. 2 780cfm Holly carbs, full race cam, ported and polished heads, solid lifters, and a high capacity oil pump with twelve quarts of oil.
You had to see it to believe it, and as we said, it would pass everything but a gas station. This was in the early 70's, and gas was cheap. It was a beast to drive,
and I had to go to standard steering because the rate of RPM climb would thrash a power steering pump to pieces. I loved it. I worked on it every chance I got,Oct 27, 2011

Well, the car belongs to my uncle, but in 1958 I don't think they were as interested in "handling" so much as going fast and looking good at it. This car is all original, rides like a dream, and made me feel like I was the coolest thing on the road....I couldn't ask for more!Jul 26, 2009
