So far the car is fine the cruise was a little hard to figure out at first. but once I figured out to use the down dial to set it and the button it is fine. I cant find any directions in the owners manual about how to use the navigation so I still havent figured that out yet! It goes to my mechanic next week for a once over the driver seat is very easy to get in and out of! So far I have only driven about 200 miles and those were all local!

My 2014 Captiva started rear its ugly head a year after I got it. I bought it used at 100,000 miles on the odometer and had to have the fuel system rebuild for $750 in 2020. Last year (2022) I had to replace the heater motor and the motor door switch which cost $800. Now in 2023 the timing belt let go which messed up my #4 piston. There is moisture in my engine and oil. Plus the excessive moisture is wearing down my motor parts and cam shaft. Too expensive to fix, now shes sitting in my garage and unusable.Mar 14, 2023

I bought used with 8,000 miles on it, and ran it to 117,000 with essentially nothing done to the car but regular oil changes, a battery and tires. One of the best cars I have ever owned in my 70 years. Nice size, plenty of room but not too big or heavy, Decent, but not great gas mileage. Controls easy to read, everything well placed. No real complaints and just sold car for about 50% of what I paid for it 7 years ago. Would buy another one tody if they still made them.Aug 23, 2022

These cars burn oil faster then gas.Synthetic, synthetic! Just don’t assume you have oil in your motor just because it says change oil every 5-10,000 miles.By that time motor will blow!It doesn’t hurt to check your oil ounce a week. I know my friend assumed now I bought n fixed the car because he didn’t wanna get his hands dirty and assumed he had Atleast 5,000 miles on new oil.Dec 29, 2021

Was nice car we didnt have it a year and the engine seized it was used. Everything says it burns oil but from what I saw its not burning it its being sucked out of a hise on the top of the engine straight into the air intake. I changed the oil and less than 2 months after it was locked up never gave a warning light or nothing it started out by randomly stalling but no check engine light would illuminate so I had no clue where to start. I recommend avoiding these with the 4 cylinder or be very diligent in checking oil regular.Oct 06, 2021

I just purchased my 2nd Captiva. My 1st was totaled in a car accident 6 months after purchase. After the 4 months it took my broken leg to heal, it was time to find another car. I researched many and looked at more, but kept coming back to the Captiva. Its a perfect fit for me.Sep 20, 2021

Car was good value for the price. However, it had a few paint issues, but overall, it seems to be a good car.Aug 23, 2021

The car may be fine, but when I showed up to the dealership, I was told it had been sold that day. Then two days later, I receive multiple texts and calls that the car is back in and I should go see it. Additionally, I didnt get the feeling that the dealership could/should be trusted.Nov 28, 2020

I love the look of this car! It's sleek and also has a sporty side to it, so even though I use it as a "mom" car, it definitely doesn't look like the normal mom-type car! Hasn't had to go into the shop at all except for oil-changes! Handles beautifully on the highway and in town.
I would recommend this car to anyone with kids because it's a safe and trustworthy vehicle that young kids can easily climb in and out of (but not completely on their own because of the child-locks on the doors!)Jan 07, 2015

SUV has been fine, just not enough room for three car seats in back seat. Good looking SUV that has done well on on road conditions. Horse power is fine and barking does well. Leather heated heats are nice on very cold days.Dec 30, 2014

Makes one's heart skip a beat when viewed from the exterior. Great styling with affordable comfort and reasonable economy.
The V-6 engine has adequate power and an "Eco" mode that improves highway mileage.
Six speed transmission shifts haltingly trying to get into the highest gear as quickly as possible for improved mileage economy.Jul 07, 2014

I rented a Captiva on a business trip for a week recently, after having test driven one (for my daughter). It looks small, but inside, it's fairly roomy. We had 3 adults and all were comfortable, though back seat was snug for me (6'/225 lbs) sitting behind driver (about 6'). Would probably be uncomfortable on longer trips. Easy access to radio and climate controls, dashboard is visible.
Even though it was 4 cylinders, it got right up on the highway and into highway speeds with no problems.
Finally, I really liked the visibility. We have an Avalanche and an Infiniti SUV, each with some blind spots. I really didn't sense any blind spot looking left, right or in rearview.
I feel comfortable this would be a safe, practical car for my daughter and will likely buy one.May 10, 2014

Appearance great sporty looking, lots of room for car seats or girl friends for the weekend. Seems to handle well on roadways, safe, sits up higher than most little cars so you don't feel like you are scraping the road.Oct 21, 2013

I really like the exterior style and overall multipurpose functionality of the vehicle. It is a truly sport utility vehicle with a attractive appearance and good drive-ability.
The rear seats fold flat and make for increased cargo functionality.
The ride and drive is responsive and sporty, giving one a good feel of the road without being super stiff like the larger SUV's.
