Engine always runs strong and ride quality is great. Amazing off-road and comfortable. Transmission is smooth and clean. Gets Ok MPG given its weight. Perfect for hauling things due to big load bay and easy access because of rear tailgate and air suspension. Interior is very nice and ride is smooth. Engine is Ok on power but has a lot of torque to move itself around with.Sep 11, 2014

In rainforests, deserts, and other places no ordinary vehicle could reach, you will discover the Range Rover, a rare, exotic animal that can go to the ends of the Earth. The moment you venture off the tarmac is the moment you realize the incredible potential this vehicle has, and the luxury oasis that it offers even in the harshest of conditions. Yes there are sacrifices. The frighteningly expensive trips to the gas pump. The especially frustrating factory parts, and extraordinary maintenance costs. But it's worth every bit of it when you've driven to a remote stretch of mountain ridge where few vehicles on Earth will ever reach, and it's priceless. Mar 28, 2014

My range rover is exactly what is advertised, a luxury SUV.. I love driving this aromatic suspension driven vehicle, its like riding on air… Its a little aged but its dependable in rough conditions like snow storms or rain storms.. Dec 01, 2013

I love the unique color and look of this Range Rover. It is loaded with all of Land Rover's options for 2002 including NAV, multiplay CD, Airbag shocks for automatic leveling, stainless steel exhaust and specially stitched interior with just the right amount of wood trim to make it feel warm and comfy. Since I don't put many miles on my cars, it should hold it's value well and gas prices/fuel economy don't really affect me much.
The usual British gremlins are sure to make themselves known but since I have worked through most of them with my '01 it shouldn't be a problem to keep up with themJun 14, 2013

I love the uniqueness of the Range Rover along with the style and luxury without sacrificing the rugged capabilites. Simple, understated class and refinement keeps it from being a bling machine like the Escalade or explorer.
The occasional gremlins that pop up can drive you crazy. If you can't figure out how to solve them yourself they can dig deep into your pocket book at the dealership.Jun 14, 2013

The truck never stops impressing me or the people that have to see the nice shiny chrome tipped exhaust. Its already becoming a classic. Great sound when you floor it, engine really shows its BMW roots at high rpms. All around, gas kind of sucks but that depend how you drive. But anyways its a great nice looking truck Mar 12, 2013

Solid truck for what I paid. $10k in 2009 with 60k miles. Overall it maintenance has been low. Air shocks make the ride smooth but handling is sub par. Fuel economy sucks, but a buyer should know that going in. Overall it has been a good vehicle for me.Feb 05, 2013

I wish the fuel economy was better especially since other suvs have been able to make engines with better fuel milage. Over all I believe that the 2002 P38 was the last of the RR that are flawless in looks and electrical problems that the ones before it and after it have come to experience. This one/year was the flagship!Apr 08, 2012

Built by hand. Not like the cars and trucks built on mass assembly lines here in North America !....Wish that we could get the English diesel engine over here, that would definately help in the fuel mileage category.I understand from conversation, that the aluminum engine block, was in some sort of early buick wildcat, and landrover bought the block rights from general motors, then redesigned the intake manifold for fuel injection. The smooth response of the power this engine has is in itself unsurpassed.Dec 05, 2011

V8 noise, comfort, lots of toys. Bit thirsy but it is a V8. I personally think the Range rover is the best model in the 4x4 market for luxury. I dont think it is that good off road due to long wheel base.Jan 02, 2011

Horrible on gas. Air Suspension is a pain but if you
can look past that then its one of the best cars to own.
GREAT off road, cant be beat in the snow. One of the
safest, greatest looking vehicles out there.Aug 03, 2009

Range Rover P38 (1995-2002) 15th August 2008
The famous British Range Rover has been around for many years and is capable of far more than just the school run. The stately home on wheels can be described as class-less. It does not matter whether you are a multi millionaire or just a middle class family, it appeals to a wide range of people.
In the UK, Range Rovers are common on the second hand market, probably due to high fuel prices and taxes so they are very cheap to purchase. £1,000-£5,000
Australian market Range Rovers are not so common and command a far higher price. The prices range from $7,000-$23,000 depending on region and condition.
Range Rovers come with a comprehensive list of features, even on the SE but the one to choose is the HSE or depending on the Country you live, the special editions like the Autobiography, Holland & Holland etc.
Performance. The power of the 4.6 ltr V8 effortlessly pulls the 2.2 tonne mass with hast without breaking a sweat. There is a sport mode on the automatic versions that holds the gears longer for quick acceleration.
As with all P38's, when it comes to corners, they wallow and if you manage to take corners fast with passengers, they probably wont like you for it.
Luggage space is excellent and even better if seats are folded down..
Build Quality has been well documented for all the wrong reasons. Range Rovers need regular attention or yours may become another famous statistic. Minor improvements were made each year until BMW took ownership, these later models from 1999 -2002 had major improvements.
Appearance - Strong chiselled jaw look, later models have clear indicators replacing the original orange ones and improved front fog lamps. Some minor cosmetic adjustments to cabin and newer, improved engine. A wide range of OEM wheels are available.
Cost - Petrol V8's drink like a fish, it helps to have seriously deep pockets. Fuel costs come down if converted to run on LPG via 75 Ltr Gas tank in spare wheel bay.
Parts in Australia are expensive unless sourced from second hand parts or from UK.
Vehicle Insurance in Australia is surprisingly cheap if you shop around and the registration (Road Tax) is similar to a Holden Commodore.
Fun Factor. The elevated driving position, leather arm chair like front seats make long distance drives very comfortable. Then there is the standard 10 speaker sound system with sub woofer.
The off road abilities set Range Rovers apart from their competitors which is why they are still king in extreme environments.

It's a great combination of luxury and utility. It's timeless - classic and classy. It drives like a Bentley, goes anywhere, amazing amount of space and surprisingly reliable. Gas mileage is hideous and it's not going to get many speeding tickets, but it's great it what it does. This one's a very rare Aspen Sliver model, which was created out of the over-run on the 25th Anniversary model. It's identical except for the absence of badges and embroidery as well as stocl LWB wheels. It's actually more rare than the 25th Anniversary. It's close to all original, with the exception of an upper tailgate replacing the rust-prone original.Aug 12, 2008

I loved the Range Rover that I had when I used to be in AbuDhabi, UAE. Range Rover is an excellent SUV with a magestic air around it.
The vehicle is a lill clumsy ( rolls like the cadillacs ) but that adds to its character. I liked the air suspension and the overall riding comfort.
The best part of any range rover SUV is the way you'd be seated in it. You will be seated very very high, and you would have an excellent 'view' of the outside world.
I guess I will come back to write more about this car.Jul 17, 2008

Just love it Can't say why. Maybe the high ride, the gorgeous V8 sounds, the luxury or just the name. Nevermind it's just impossible to explain. Against all odds, would be the car to keep for everyday if I had to choose one.Jan 29, 2008
