I have had my Charger for 14 years; I was the first to drive it on the lot, and have loved it ever since. It gets well used ;) I have had no major issues with the car, I have always taken great care of it and done all needed maintenance. The car and engine are die hard, and it never lets me down!! The reported issues on other sites; such as the water pump, steering, starting were not issues I have ever had; the water pump just started to go recently at 318,000. Just an example that taking good care of your car can make a huge difference! Other complaints Ive read are handling, and visibility. I think the people making those comments are just not overly versed in how to properly drive this model of car, it drives and handles amazing!! Especially in the winter; if you have a good set of winters on it, you can go anywhere. And I dont find I have any blind spots, especially if you set all the mirrors just right. Mine has had its day though, trying to find one in decent condition to replace it. Wish Dodge didnt change the exterior shape, I love the look of this model over the new ones; so I wont buy a newer model. Only complaints would be the faux leather; my driver seat and arm rest are badly cracked and split, and you will see that in all of the Chargers this age. Apr 18, 2023

This wonderful car has been a great addition to our family! She drives beautifully whether on the highway or the country roads where she hugs them without fail. We are looking forward to our next Charger if Dodge continues to build them or the Challenger.Aug 10, 2014

This car does not have a smooth and consistent start. It will cut off while I am driving. I will lose power steering and have to throw it into neutral and restart it as fast as I can. It is so dangerous!Apr 28, 2014

As stated above, the HEMI power is just smile inducing. The comfort that this car exudes on the roads, whether it be light to light or open highway is amazing. The gadgetry in the cockpit leaves you feeling like James Bond as you cycle radio stations with either the steering wheel controls or the MyGIG touch screen. The heated seats shake off the bitter cold in the winters and the sunroof lets you bask in those sunny summer days. This car turns heads at the grocery stores or whatever other family duties you may encounter, but lets you chuckle when you slam the accelerator and feel the car jump up and go. I have few gripes with this vehicle. Mainly the heaviness and bodyroll, but any visit to performance shop can cure those ailments!Mar 25, 2014

I don't mind the car, but I don't like that there is no dip stick for the transmission fluid. Which means buying one off the dealer. There are a few blind spots you must be very cautious of as well.Dec 19, 2013

I own a Daytona RT GoManGo 3356/4000 and it has been an absolute joy. My car is a 2006, the first edition after the 1969, and still today 10/2013, people look in WOW- that's a HEMI. It looks mean, tough, yet with a touch of class... I have loved every mile on it.
It is my first American car and it has been a BLAST!

Great, old-school looks. The near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution and 245's all around give great grip. The power is great for the money, and just a few grand will get you SRT8 power with very little work. I just did 43 hours of driving in a week with this car and was never even slightly uncomfortable, which is surprising with my back problems. Good sound system, tape deck allows for a cheap, high quality ipod hookup. This car has a Mercedes suspension, transmission, steering column, traction control system, rear differential and plenty more. Basically, this car is worth much more than I paid. I use it for everything.May 15, 2013

This replaces my supercharged 2007 RT with Road and Track- honestly this feels faster even though I know I beat them at the track in the 1/4 mile. Performance is effortless, whereas my RT was straining. Completely enjoying getting to know this car (5,000 miles so far)May 02, 2013

Wow! 425 horsepower and decent mileage considering. 200 mile trip and averaged 21.5mpg hwy on winter fuel! Not bad. Very comfy ride and interior and low road noise. Wish it had some of the features of the new models but not bad considering! Tons of room for all passengers.Jan 12, 2013

Love my car!! Everything is great!! It's comfortable and reliable. Great performance, minor repairs were needed but it's still a great car. Love the way it looks, inside and out. I get great gas millage considering it's a sports/family car. It is a very fun car to drive, in fact I traded my mustang in for it. Mar 22, 2012

I give this Charger a 5 out of 5 on everything. For it's size and weight (4160 LBS) it has pretty good acceleration/power. I definitely love the looks of it but then again this one is the Daytona R/T not just the regular R/T. I haven't had to get anything fixed yet so I can't really comment on maintenance costs. Both the back and front seats have plenty of room and are extremely comfortable, the leather with suede inserts definitely give it that luxury muscle car feel. Extremely reliable, I haven't had a problem with it yet. It is a 4D sedan, so it is definitely a family car but at the same time it is a performance car that is fun to drive. For a car weighing 4,160 LBS I would say it gets really good gas mileage especially since it has a 5.7L V8 in it. For me compared to other cars in it's class it is the best bang for the buck. The cargo room is pretty impressive it has a really big trunk, it doesn't look nearly as big as it actually is just looking at the car without the trunk open. The handling on the car is pretty darn impressive even in rain and snow, it can turn and stop on a dime with out fish tailing or skidding. I would definitely recommend the Charger R/T Daytona to anyone looking for a powerful sports sedan. Jan 11, 2012

Only had the car for less than a week, so I don't know about the Reliabilty or the maintenance costs, but everything else is five Stars! Only exception is the rear seats. I am 6'5", so my drivers seat is pretty much all the way to the rear. Doesn't leave much room for the passenger behind me. Luckily my daughters are small enough to still be confortable. :)
I bought the car used with 14K miles on it. I knew it had some minor electrical problems when I bought it, but I'm working on those. (See "Cons" above for more recent additions)
The car handles great. The steering is very smooth. The sound of the car is amazing, and gets turned heads all the time! The car is powerful. When I want to burn rubber, I have no doubt that I can. Even times when I'd rather not (ie cop right behind me) it still does at times. But that's just driver error. I am still getting used to a Charger Daytona Hemi, vs my old Magnum v6. :) The look is great, and the car itself, just owning it, has peaked my interest in automotive. I now find myself in Napa, and other car stores, shopping for parts just because.
I just bought new 20" rims and brand new tires for the car, so the looks has just improved even more than it already was, and the handling should improve too. The braking is a little mushy, but that may be the case that I need to replace them.
Even when breaking traction, I still felt in control of the car, and can handle J-turns, etc. fluidly. Nothing that I don't love about this car yet. I'm sure the maintenanc costs will be a little bit high, as it's not your average family car, but that was expected when I bought it.
All in all, I am looking forward to owning this car! Dec 25, 2011

I purchased the 2006 Dodge Charger RT new in 2006 and I have to say it has treated me well over the years it just turned 100,000 and still runs and looks great. I am pleased the charger has held up so well, I'm not easy on it. Great acceleration and braking the car handles hard corners so well for a big vehicle it is hard to believe. After all these years I still enjoy driving the Charger.Oct 05, 2011

Very fun to drive. It was fast and responsive. The acceleration was great for a V6, I was surprised how much power the 3.5L has. It looks sleek and I wish I could have one for my own. My only issue was the ride quality on bumpy roads. Jul 07, 2011

My car has a lot of horse power Its a SRT8 . Accelaration is beautiful, brakes are
great especially the handbrake, it has black rims and it cost about $20,000. Its
great to drive and has a great amount of muscle. I have had it for about three
weeks and its a great machine, The feeling of power i get when i'm behind the
wheel is outstanding.

It is a Daytona Special Edition RT fully loaded including the VES and GPS and is the most fun car I've ever Driven.
Performance is excellent with the 5.7L Hemi and with reasonable fuel economy. 25-27Hiway mpg and 19-21 mpg combination City and Hiway.
With 57000 miles on it I've done some minor repairs i.e. torque bushings and sway bar bushings and a temp sensor.Mar 13, 2011

yep I love this car, great commuter and very comfortable. has lots of room both inside and out. Great on gas but wish it had a larger fuel tank. Just a 68 liter tank so filling it a bit to often.Feb 09, 2011

Yes its a V6 but it has a lot of power.. the people who have never driven a v6
charger should not talk saying its not a muscle car. These cars have a lot of options
for mods. Comfy and fast combined into one.Jan 24, 2011

I love everything about it! Roomy 4 door passenger car with the heart of true American muscle! The MDS system allows the 8 cylinders to reduce to 4 cylinder which increases fuel mileage, example: highway im averaging 23 mi per gallon.Jun 01, 2010

The 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 is a work of art. The car looks fast standing still! The cars performance is outstanding, fast, handles well and has a ton creature comforts. Mine had every option. This car is a fantastic example of wrap outstanding performance with class. I sold it due to the 14 MPG and its need to run on premium, $100 per week to get back and forth to work was a bit much.Dec 20, 2008

I bought this car with 300 miles on it due to a lot of people wanting to test drive it without intending on buying it. My wife fell in love with it because of it's power and quickness. Before the charger we bought an 03 Impala and it is a V6 so it doesn't have that HEMI power. The charger gets better gas mileage than I expected. I drove it across the country and from California to Wisconsin my total was about $300 for gas. I was expecting the total to be around $500 or greater. We are really happy with our purchase and would recommend this vehicle to anybody who could afford it.Sep 25, 2008

Fast as a cheetah, I love this car, styling is retro, performance is unbeatable, no squeaks, get 25 on highway and has 400hp, love the black on black. 3% winow tint keeps the leather cool even in the summer.
Would recommend this car to anyone who enjoys driving fast and looking good.Sep 08, 2008

Performance - let the 350 horsepower, 5.7 liter hemi speak for itself, along with the amazing handling that comes with a beefed up steering and suspension. The ride on huge 20" inch rims is amazingly smooth.
Cost of ownership - with 16 mpg in the city and 20 on the highway, this is quite nice. =D
Appearance - let your jaw hit the floor, because this is one of the most beautiful cars out there
Fun factor - no matter what speed you're cruising at, this car is pure fun 100% of the time
Build quality - you have to look kinda hard to find flaws.Sep 01, 2008

Performance - It has great acceleration, good braking and handling. Its corners not quite as tight as I would like for a performance car, but its cornering is great compared to cars in its class. It also makes a great sound when it starts.
Features - roomy, including the trunk. The interior is nice and although its rear-wheel drive, I feel safer in this car than in any other car I've driven.
Appearance - Aggressive, eye-catching and it just looks fast. Which it is.
Fun Factor - This car has it. Lots of it.
Cons - Its mpg is generally less than 18 in the city and only exceeds 19 on extended interstate driving (more than an hour). I have gotten as much as 23, which is good for a sports car, but just not great in general.Aug 29, 2008

Best performance sedan in its price class. well built, beautiful and can haul a$$! no other car provide more bang for the bucks than the Charger SRT-8. only disadvantage at this time is gas mileage. but if you're worried about mileage, the SRT-8 is not for you.
best performance 4 door sedan under $45K. it's fun to drive, 0-60 in 5 seconds, leather interior, navigation, seat warmer, 0-60 timer, blue tooth wireless, internal mp3 storage. brambo big brakes.
only thing this beast can't do is transform into megatron. Aug 26, 2008

i bought the car brand new, only 100 km. i test drove it and loved it. the cars acceleration is awsome, when i step on it the car goes, for a 3.5 v6 it has 250 hp, and 250 ft lbs of torque the auto/stick feature makes the car really fun to drive. the car looked really plain with the old steel rims with plastic hubcaps but since i've put rims on its been getting lots of looks and many people have complimented me on it, the braking and handling are awsome very responsive the gas mileage could be better but i can't complain to much, it costs less to fill up than the old truck.
since i have only had the car for a few months nothing has gone wrong the car sounds good but needs a better exhaust make it sound real good. the car feels real strong and i havnt had one issue yet Jul 17, 2008

I love the fact that even though it's a 4-door muscle car, the 5.7L Hemi that lies underneath the hood ROARS
and throws you heard back agains the headrest...even with 5 people in the car! The quality of the interior is
the only thing that I complain about. I really am interested to find where American Cars get the plastic to
make the interiors for their cars. Other than the interior, the car is amazing. I'd recommend it to anybody.Jun 20, 2008

Anyone who has not had the opportunity to drive the Dodge Charger R/T Daytona is missing out on one of life's coolest experiences. I am fortunate enough to enjoy this feeling everyday. After my test drive last month, I spent no more than a nano-second deciding to buy the Plum Crazy Daytona. It accelerates faster than most people would need to meet their recommended daily allowance for adrenaline. The purple color brings second looks, thumbs up from fellow drivers and even the occasional person compelled to tell you how cool your car is. If you do not like being the center of attention then this may not be the car for you.
All in all, driving this car is complete exhileration. It well deserves 5 stars.Dec 05, 2007
