I have been very impressed by the reliability of the Honda Accord and the leg room it provides. The manual transmission makes for a great fun driving experience.
I would suggest you find a Honda Accord and enjoy the driveJan 13, 2015

This was a great car to have in college. Was easy to maintain and was great for long and short trips. Gas mileage clearly a plus when younger and broke. I had the car for almost 10 years and was happy to see it go to another first time car buyer.Feb 27, 2014

This car drives and handles great. 312, 000 miles. Probably keep it forever. I drive it as everyday car and keep my newer ones for road trips. It has been better to keep up maintainence and repairs over the years than by a new one. Bought it new. It rides and drives better than later model hondas.Sep 15, 2013

Parts are dirt cheap and it is easy to work on. I have a cracked distributor on mine right now and it's still running. It won't die, and it has nearly 300,000 miles on it. It is pretty fun to drive with the 4 wheel independent double wishbone suspension. Sep 25, 2012

This has been fantastic car for me -- expecially since I got it with just under 100K on it for $5400 and have driven it for 10 years. Now nad just 161k on it and I'm planning to sell it for expected $2500. Car has adequate power (16 valve engine still is strong and even quick with 5 speed stick ), it runs great and gets good gas mileage. On a long trip, I once saw close to 500 miles on one tank of gas. After nearly 20 years, (with diligent upkeep) everything still works - and things that do need replacing after regular wear and tear are reasonable to fix. I put all-season performance tires on it and they made a huge difference -- it will really hang on through exit ramps and back roads. A little more body roll than a true sports car, but this is a 92 Accord after all! Fifteen spoke alloy wheels still look clean and distinguished - but admittedly are a pain to keep clean with all those cavities for dirt to build up. Overall I love this car! Highly recommended if you can find one that's been well maintained. Nov 08, 2011

Best Car We Have Ever Owned. We have owned it for 14 years and it still runs nearly as perfect as when we bought it. We had the timing belt changed at around 90K as suggested by Honda and regular oil changes etc. Car now has around 156K and is holding up very well.Feb 19, 2011

well it is what it is..... its a family car with a little bit of a sport feel. you can do alot with them but at the end of the day its still a family sedan. as far as the quality factor goes it will last forever with generalized upkeep and as long as you catch the problems before they become major it will do what you want and not give you too much fuss. interior wise they leave alot to be desired, but for a early 90's car you cant do too much better and aftermarket gauges are easy to install so you can get a better feel of what exactly your engine is doing. its a fairly cheap car to drive if it has been maintained just dont expect it to handle like a porsche or accelerate like a old amx. is it fun to drive? yeah that it is, the car itself is very forgiving and wont let you down, its not the fastest thing arround but its got some decent speed if you have the money to put into it and you can get decent handling out of it but it all comes down to what you want vs what you are willing to spend. mine isnt a project car, its a daily driver but that doesnt mean that i havent put decent work into making it faster, but will i put thousands into it like i have some of my other projects? no. at the end of the day make your fast car faster and your comfy car more comfortable. because it will let you appreciate both more. This is one of the best car I've ever owned. It has
lasted through everything. All I've ever had to replace
on it... Tires, brakes, and the radiator. It does great in
the snow, and gets great gas mileage. Get this car.Dec 23, 2009

It's a Honda, what can I say? It starts everytime, runs like a champ, and gets great gas mileage! I have had to do some minor repair work to it, but nothing major. Only wish it didn't burn so much oil. 210,000 miles and counting!Dec 12, 2009

I like the reliability, gas mileage, and comfort the car provides. The performance of the car is average, although better than a Toyota Camry of the same year. The car is roomy without being too large. In general, it is fun and practical.Nov 05, 2009

The 90'-93' Honda Accords are very stable
platforms to modify. Very strong Uni-Body Chassis
with some add-ons can make it a real "Canyon
Carver". I started with the springs/struts=Ground
Control/Tokico, added some Sway Bars=
Suspension Techniques, and finished off with
Energy Suspension Urethane Bushings (control
arms, trailing arms...etc) and Megan Racing Strut
Tower Bars Upper/Lower Front/Rear.
Stock brake setup fades severly after about 3-5
mins of hard braking. So I installed Brembo Cross-
Drilled/Slotted Rotors, and Hawk Racing Pads, with
Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines And Endless
racing DOT3-4 synthetic brake fluid. (Jp Co.)
The F22A1 is not a powerhouse of a motor. but it
has alot of potential. I have a AEM longram intake
w/ hydrolock bypass installed, and Skunk2 68mm
Throttle Body installed, Hotshot 4-2-1 Ceramic
header installed, a full Tunabe Hyper Hi-Flow
exhaust system w/ test pipe installed 2 1/2 inch
piping.
Interior is in mint condition, no rips, tears, no dark
stains. All options are functional, all electronics are
functional. Had to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor
for my odometer, it malfunctioned and needed
repair due to age. it has 267,987 miles on the
odometer and its still whooping ass daily here in
clarksville.
this is a short list of parts that have been replaced
due to age or wear-
1. Tires
2. VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor
3. Clutch kit
4. Brakes
5. Bulbs
6. Oil and other fluids.
7. Timing Belt
This vehicle is in flawless working order and is a
blast to drive. It regularly outperforms many
vehicles 10-15 yrs newer. Kills include most
stock/swapped hondas, Grand Prix GTPs, G8s, SVT
Focus', Sentra SE-Rs, Camaro LT-1 z28s, 2v 4.6L
Mustang GTs, Audi A4s, BMW 318is, Eclipse GSTs,
V6 Eclipses, Mazda RX-8s.
And all the while stomping alotta ass, it still scores
29-35 miles a gallon.Sep 25, 2009

its actually a EX-R, not a LX. drives okay, a little rough. Decent proformance, looks great. needs valve seals to stop burning oil. other than that it drives great. planning on putting a H22 in it for better performance as well as a 5 speed jdm transmission.Jul 25, 2009

I love everything about this car. It has power
everything. The performance of the car is ok for the
typical sedan. The exhaust has seen better days so
thats the first performance mod Im doing. The only
thing that I had to fix was the fuel pump.(Thats right I
fix my own cars). The appearance is very good for a
89. The main thing is the faded out trim that Im
painting gloss black.Jul 20, 2009

I have had the 89 LX for 20 years and I still enjoy driving it. Reliable solid performance and classic lines. Never thought I would end up driving it for 20 years, but it is still fun to drive so why make a payment?Jun 22, 2009

The Honda Accord is a quality car. It is built for both performance and efficiency. Chevrolet says their cars are built of quality unsurpassed by Toyota or Honda. Their definition of quality is luxury. My definition of quality is a car that will stay on the road beyond 200,000 miles without major parts replacements. The Honda Accord does have its share of problems, but its strong points outweigh its faults.Jun 10, 2009

Well, this is my Own car, a 1992 Honda Accord.
I bought it 2 years ago by pure coincidence, but never regretted doing so. Soon after I started the process of having it restored to a very acceptable state. Hopefully it will be nearer to perfect after a few other mods.
The car has a 2.0ltr engine (F20B for those in the know) which produces 130bhp, and what feels rougly like 150nm of torque at least (I simply can't find torque figures for the engine). Acceleration isn't mind blowing, around 9 sec to 60mph, however it's performance through the gears is eager and very responsive. Once in 2nd gear, at around 3000rpm, the fun is guaranteed, and can blow out of its way a lot of more powerful cars.
The ride is very refined for it's age, and also has a really sporty feel (even for a big car) once you give it a go.
Build quality is second to none, and still in perfect condition (still has it's original interior).
I simply love it's apperance. The spray colour is brilliant apart from rare, and if you ask me, the front is it's most lovely part. Exterior wise the only mods for now where the front lip, Accord/prelude original rims, and sprayed bumpers and skirts.
And yes it is fun to drive, even around corners...
It's a car i'd love to own and maintain forever. Dec 21, 2008

I love the look of this car. Even though it's old school, it still looks great. The car's engine is solid. The ex model comes with 140hp, and because it's a Honda, adding hp isn't difficult. I also get great gas mileage. The interior is spacious and well laid out.Nov 07, 2008

The best part about this car is the fact that it is cheap
to buy and to drive. Even though it's got 275,000
miles on it, it hasn't had any major problems. As long
as it's not pushed too hard, this car will last forever.
It's definitely not a race car or a huge truck, but it
does what its supposed to do. It has an amazing A/C
system... thank goodness.

My first car. Steers great, braking is alright. Acceleration is what you would expect from an accord, not crazy but not lacking either. My favorite thing about this car is that it will probably last longer than just about any other. There are plenty out there going for cheap and they make a great first car for anyone.Jul 31, 2008

Performance - Fun to drive, but there could be a little more power.
Build Quality - Great; 275000 and still going strong.
Appearance - Looks very good for its time period, but we have come up with a few better looks since then.
Cost of Ownership - Wasn't bad before gas went over $4/gallon.
Fun to drive - Oh man it is so much fun to drive still nice; light and tight to drive. :)Jun 27, 2008

If you can find one in good condition, and that still gets good mpg, i suggest picking one up.
Every car has its ups and downs, even this one. Its gets good mpg(24). Its cheap to mod/repair and if youre into tuning and know what youre doing, with a weekend, a buddy and the right tools, this can easily become a nicely powered(200hp) daily driver. Mar 08, 2008

It may not look like much. It May not be fast but this car is built to last. If you keep good care of it this car should last you at least 200,000 miles. Add in a ncie CD player and a remote car starter and your all set. Jan 28, 2008

I have a rare 91 Accord SE with all black leather, in very (very) good condition. I am the 2nd owner, well maintained and serviced. This car could go around the world if it could float. I love this car! cheap to drive and keep. I like the looks of this car still. Jan 15, 2008
