I own a 2003 civic ex coupe and has only had a few minor issues . 02 sensor, horn stopped working for a bit but then started working again . It currently has 313486 miles and counting. Drives straight, starts every time, and no rattles. Road noise is just a little louder than I would prefer but i have learned to ignore it. Jul 06, 2024

Great economical MPG for a car its age. That being said the new Hondas get even better performance. But I had one of these and can attest that it is a great car for anybody.Feb 17, 2024

I love the fact that it does not break the bank to fill up the tank. It is great for singles or families with small kids . The car still looks good and runs great. You can't go wrong with a Honda.Mar 10, 2015

In this economy you must look at a car which can make your life easier not harder by saving you thousands at the pump. Also don't cost much to repair if something goes bad, overall this was my best car everFeb 21, 2014

The car is very comfortable and is build very solid. The maintenance is very cheap and it does not need it often. The Car is perfect for long distance community work due to it delivers 39 to 40 miles per gallon. Dec 30, 2012

Love it! Acceleration great for a 4 cylinder. Have driven it through some major snow, better with good tires. Brakes fine for a car without abs brakes. corners great! surprising how much you can fit in the trunk, especially with back seats down. Oct 07, 2012

The 2000 Honda Civic LX is a very solid car. It offers great value and reliability even in its older age. The appearance is attractive and still contemporary, appealing to the younger generation of folks. With it's popular 4 cylinder engine, this Civic model puts out 106 horse at 6200 rpm and 103 ft. lbs. of torque at 4500 rpm. This is a weak car for anyone that drives to actually get somewhere. In other words, it is great for light-footed women and your grandma's Sunday drive to church. For me, fuel efficiency has been a huge factor and it's the only way I can tolerate driving it. I would love me some more power, but I must say the acceleration has a quick response and the engine noise to go with can make your friends jump. Interior noise gains a lot from the engine, but from a teenager's mind it hits the spot. A very popular car to rebuild and customize, which I would recommend. Don't hesitate on this Honda. This isnt a car you would purchase if you are looking to get the "drivers" experience. It was made to be a reliable and comfortable car without all the bells and whistles.
I would recommend this for a new (smaller) family who needs transportation or for a new driver. It is easy to maintain and easy to handle. The car it self is top quality in terms of being a reliable source of transportation.
The gas mileage also helps during todays mega gas prices.
All in all, I have enjoyed the many years I have owned this vehicle. It got me through my first years of driving and has been a reliable partner throughout.Aug 07, 2011

Very nice and cheap to drive street racer! Great handling and traction, a lot of power for such a light car. No breakdowns or repairs needed, just pour petrol and change oil and filters once for a while and you'll be fine.Jun 24, 2010

Very reliable, needs no special maintenance, just wish it went faster (only a 1.4L).
38MPG
Loads of room inside for 4 big adults, 5 smaller ones at a push
Bit boring to drive, and expensive to buy, but a good resale value.

Best car I ever had. Was the 1.5i VTec. Did some rallies with it, been around the track and it didn't break once. Its a very fun car to drive and would recommend it to anyone! Very sad to have let it go but I had to. All it needed was mags. at 5000rpm the valves would open and it started pulling even harder all the way to 8000rpm. GREAT CAR!!!Nov 10, 2009

i loved my civic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
never had to change the brakes, clutch, exhaust, or anything! the only thing i ever had to do was regular maintenance. the only reason i had to get rid of it was because it was no longer big enough for my growing family. but i miss it every day! gas mileage was great. it even handled well in the snow! and it was my first standard car....and it still ran well! lolOct 05, 2009

well its a nice looking car with a good aerodynamic body .. when it comes to performance, acceleration is awesom with the Vtech engine and the CVT multitronic transmission. handling of course is much better when compared to other japanese makes that are in stock conditon... economy wise, its got two modes, in the D mode that is in normal driving it does about 15km/l but wen d sports mode is turned on it does only about 8 km/l.. This is a wonder vehicle. It has served me well over the years. It still gets great gas milage (32-36 mpg) after 6 years. Only a few blemishes in the paint from rock chips over time. I have only had to complete the normal maintance schedule on it. Besides new tires and a battery. The only downside is it is not a family car. With two children now it is not feasible for two children in car seats. In the process of search for a new vehcile for this reason. However I still plan to keep the civic because of its realiabilty.Oct 14, 2008

The performance of the car is just satisfactory. The handling is ok, the braking is not bad but the acceleration is quite poor. The build quality is very good except that its body is not robust enough. Its appearance is very good and its interior is relatively good.
I'm please with the cost of maintenance the car is nice to drive.Aug 31, 2008

I absolutely love everything about my car!!! It has a manual transmission which makes it fun to drive. It is a very pretty dark green color with a tan interior which is a beautiful combination. It is very reliable as Hondas are known for, and it's great on gas. Even with the high gas prices, I can fill up for about $40 and it will last me a while. My 4-cylinder Odyssey costs way more than that to operate. I have been nothing short of highly satisfied with this car. My boyfriend even wants to buy one now!!!Aug 22, 2008

Well, it was the first car I ever bought. Lucky for me though, the person I bought the car from was an avid race car driver. And he said the car up for street racing. That being the case, the car handled amazingly well. Though the low skirts were a constant problem when driving in pot-holed streets - it was a speed demon on the highway!!! The luxury finish on the interior assured a comfortable drive. Though the airconditioning was its only weakness. - It was worthless on a very hot day in the Philippines!!! But other than that, everything was good. Nice leg-room. Spacious trunk and interior. Nice dash and side panel designs ad a stable engine.I'd recommend ANY Honda to any serious car buyer.Jul 25, 2008

The most fun car I have ever driven. Acceleration is great if you work on it. It has great gas mileage - I have 70k miles on it and I got 35 MPG on the freeway. The appearance is really nice especially the white color and tinting. I haven't had to do any major repairs just routine services.
The only downside is it is one of the three most sought after cars for theft so I would recommend an alarm system. But because the car is inexpensive you can buy a great system.
Would definitely recommend. Great gas mileage, great reliability, friendly staff, great looking and affordable - what could be better?Jul 15, 2008

Honda Civic, a vehicle that has been constructed since the Oil Crisis of 1973, has evolved drastically in both size and equipment. The first Civic was a relatively "small" vehicle, with few or no creature comforts like a/c, radio, and many others. Over the years, this car has grown in size and in amenities. Today, this car is perhaps one of the best-selling nameplates due to it's fuel economy, power and features. However, this review will be based on the Honda Civic 2000. This car, owned by my dad, has been in service for eight years and in those eight years, it has proven to be extremely reliable. Thanks to its engine, providing 106HP with a displacement of about 1.6L, this car has a relatively good acceleration, but should be stronger and have a little bit of torque. The dashboard is dominated by a 140-mph speedometer with the fuel and tempearutre gauges on the sides, but it should be equipped with a tachometer. The seats are very comfortable, yet this car is small for a person as tall as I am, so I had to move the seat backwards, thus compromising the already-small space of the back seat. The cupholders are enormous and the dash is designed so that a "king size" bottle can fit perfectly and that's a good point. The space in the trunk is relaitvely small, with no domelight to illuminate it at night, but the seats fold 60/40 so that more cargo can be loaded with at least 3 passengers. Overall, this is a very safe car, with ABS and driver-passenger airbags and a durable body. If I was to re-design this car, I would give it a bigger engine, longer dimensions, and a standard tachometer and I would reduce the price of this vehicle since $23,000 is a lot of money for this car. It should also have many more features standard.Mar 26, 2008

This is actually my wife's car that she bought new, 2 years before we became engaged.
Obviously this is not a fast car and not a luxury car. It's a compact car for someone on a budget. But it fills that role VERY well. Its reliability has probably been the best of any car I've been associated with. After 6+ years and 55,000+ miles, the only unscheduled maintenance has been a tightening of the belts. The a/c was making a strange whooping noise occasionally, but it works perfectly, so that was a very minor annoyance...
The room is adequate. We have a baby now, the car seat is in the middle (of the rear bench, obviously), and there's still room for people to sit on the side - not comfortably, but they can make it.
The performance is what you'd expect for the money. Not great. I've been a little annoyed sometimes trying to merge out of a cloverleaf. It understeers like a front-driver usually does. But none of these are terrible flaws - you get what you pay for, and if you're even looking at this car you obviously don't want high performance. It's just a good compact sedan.
One black spot on this car: the original tires were HORRIBLE. Just check out tire rack if you want to see some awful reviews. They wore poorly, provided marginal traction even on dry pavement, and were terrible in wet and snow. By now, though, it should be almost impossible to find any original tires on this car - they will have long since expired.

I've owned my Honda Civic VP for 2 1/2 years and have to say it is great on gas, comfortable (I'm 275) and needs nothing...ever. I get around 450 miles before I fill up and it takes about 12.5 gallons each time, so gas is brilliant. The seats are wide enough for my back and shoulders when almost nothing this size seems to be. I think the car drives as good as the day I bought it and could easily do 200,000 miles. I bought it for $13,400 and it's worth #10,500 2 1/2 years later? Unbelievable resale value. I just wish I bought the four door not the two door, but the manual is zippy not like the automatic.Jan 30, 2008

the car is very stabile and has a great grip on the road.
it has very good acceleration.
The breaking is a bit sensitive in my opinion
It has much room for 4-5 passengers and plenty of storage space.
It would buy it again for a small family or couple, and it is a pleasure to drive it.
