The Limited trim package is the best of all. Too many options are missing from the Touring and lower trim packages. Overall, we are very happy with the Chrysler 200 (aka Sebring), so much so that we own 3 of these fun sporty cars.Jul 17, 2024

I wanted to love this car. I like the retro art deco-esque styling of Chrysler vehicles, and it is a very nice looking car with a solid high-end look that most American cars dont have...but, that is the end of the positives for me. The elelectrical system/computer modules on this car have been a nightmare. I purchased it used last year. It was a nine year old car, so I expected it to have some quirks, and parts that were wearing down and due for replacement. Thats a given, but I expected to replace an alternator, maybe a starter, or fuel pump. The first thing I had to replace? The rear bumper shroud...because it fell off at 65mph on the freeway. I have never had a vehicle panel fall off before, but thanks to YouTube, I discovered that I was not the first Chrysler 200 owner to lose a bumper cover on the freeway. The convertible hardtop does not open, but I was aware of that when I bought it and the price was discounted accordingly. From what I have read in the forums, having a 200 with a hardtop convertible that is still functioning at 9 - 10 years out would put you in a very small majority. I dont hold that against Chrysler. Convertible hardtops, are sort of like gull wing doors, hideaway headlights, and Fieros. They were a cool idea and they look awesome, just not great in practice. If it were just the covertible top and bumper I would still be in love but those were just the start and it went from bad to worse fast. It started with the AC randomly shutting on and off. Then the car started spitting out random warnings like passenger door ajar Convertible top not secured and random alert tones that are clearly intended to be a warning but there is no discernible pattern to when they occur and there is no accompanying explanation (oh, and none of the events it screams out warnings about are actually occurring. Next to go was the dash lights, which work fine as long as you dont turn the headlights on. You can have dashlights or headlights but not both. Then the passenger side window stopped halfway down and would not return to closed, a week later the passenger door stopped opening altogether. My favorite so far though has to be the alarm system which occasionally, (at the most inopportune times) suffers panic attacks and percieves an attempt to start the car as an attempted abduction worthy of an ear splitting alarm and every single light inside and outside the car flashing on and off for a VERY long time. Long enough for me to try all the secrets tricks that are supposed to turn it off, get frustrated, go inside, boot up the computer, search the now bookmarked 200 owners forum, and learn that this is another extremely common 200 quirk, and that the alarm system is controlled by the TCPM directly, and designed to be tamper proof so there is no fuse or plug to just pop out to disconnect it, and I learn from my fellow 200 owners that the cars overactive imagination will only get worse from here. Once the random alarm symptom starts up the cars computer will soon start interpreting hard braking or an abrupt lane change as a catastrophic crash and it will cut the fuel supply immediately so we dont explode.....or continue driving. So apparently the car just shuts off randomly, usually when maneuvering through traffic at freeway speeds...perfect. I have not experienced that one yet, so thats something to look forward to. But it is the battery that prompted this review (and car shopping). The battery is either fine (as in normal voltage on the OBD2 and the car starts) or it is so dead it cant even power up the OBD2. There is no in between. Replacing the battery is the obvious next step, but there are personal stories in the forums numbering in the double digits that do not inspire any confidence that a battery replacement is the solution ( Everyone started with the battery, there were no success stories). The battery on the 200 earns its very own WTF?! category. The lowest price economy option starts at $225 and the premium batteries that will last more than one AZ summer are around $400 and thats not the end of it, all the autoparts stores have it labeled as requiring professional installation... yep, a battery swap requiring a trip to the mechanic, why?! Because, you have to dismantle the front of the car to access the battery, thats why. The battery is located behind the front driver side corner of the front bumper shroud, in front of the wheelwell. Proper procedure requires the removal of the front wheel inner wheelwell, and front bumper shroud....just to change the battery....I have decided that Chrysler execs were clearly upset about the Daimler merger and launched a diabolical plot to sabotage the Chrysler line up by brainstorming the worst possible design for every feature and then incorporating all of them into the 200. Its really the only explanation that makes sense...May 23, 2024

I have never understood why people will buy a Convertible with dark (black or dark gray) leather seats.
If one leaves their car with the top down for a period of time on a hot summers day with the sun shinning brightly, upon returning, getting into their car and sitting, they will immediately know it was a mistake not putting the top up!May 02, 2024

This is a great car, I have owned a 200 in the past and upgraded to the S model. Only downsides with this model over a regular touring is that the gas mileage is not as great. The Uconnect radio might be my favorite part of the car but it is also very fun and easy to drive, comfortable and has a lot of trunk and overall space. My last 200 was very reliable so I except the same for this one. Jan 27, 2023

This was a very affordable Hardtop Convertible when new and still is today. It is especially good if yours has to sit outside. Mine leaks a bit. Where the top meets the windshield and on the shoulder of the roof seam above the back window, It drips around the left rear quarter window and at the front part of the drivers door. A towel there when parked absorbs any water. It really doesnt leak when driving.
Other than that it drives nicely and has good power. Mileage is not bad for a heavy car 19 city/29 highway. The front bucket seats are not super comfortable as you tend to sit ON them and not IN them. The back seat is wonderful but has NO leg room unless the front seats are moved quite away up. Heat and AC are good.
When the temperature is 90 or above, my radio seems to go crazy with the heat and will change and save ANY station it finds or save all the push buttons to the same station. I am considering changing it out.
The trunk is adequate with the top down allowing for two small suitcases and other small bags, The trunk is CAVERNOUS with the top up and rivalled my RAV4 when moving boxes as I downsized my home. It holds a LOT of cargo, golf bags, luggage or at least two people! :)
There is considerable torque-steer when accelerating and the steering tends to over-steer when making a quick maneuver until you get used to driving it. The long, low nose does scrape on exit of some driveways and I have torn one under-bumper apron off on high, uneven curb stones. I also had to install a backup camera.
I believe the 2011-2014 were designed by Daimler before selling the company to FCA so it has a Benz-like louvered grille and very nice lines all the way to the taillights. I cant say how many compliments I have received just from people in parking lots. It is a gorgeous car top down or up, which is unusual.
Best of all you can still get the Limited or S hard top with good miles for around $12,000 and soft top Touring editions for under $10k. It is far less expensive with lower maintenance cost than a hard top VW, BMW or Benz. A great price for a roomy convertible that can comfortably accommodate four people on a short trip and two people on a long one.Sep 27, 2021

Well, I am in love with the Chrysler 200. This model is beautiful. The cars features are relevant to my needs. The value of this car is perfect because it is actually worth more than you charge for it. I have found the car to be lacking nothing in my opinion. The clock located in the center over the radio is classic. There really is no comparison for this car. However, the Lincoln Towncar is amazing as well.Jan 29, 2021

I like the features of the car. A few features that I like are, the remote car starter, heated seats, and the sport mode. I also like that it drives good. This car is missing a navigation system, which I thought came with it. I’m not sure what other model I would compare it with. Sep 04, 2020

Nice looking convertible!!!! For me I think the back seat is just too close to the front seat and the trunk is hard to get to with the top down.....but the price seems to be terrific. Have to give it more thought. Aug 15, 2020

Blind spots may be a problem for you. Car takes some getting accustomed. The wind tunnel rake of the car's profile creates a few blindspots and also the angle of headlamps' night driving view in front. I added 1/2" wheel spacers to the front hubs to correct the angle and widen the front track.Jul 15, 2015

This vehicle is an eye catcher plus very comfortable. I have never noticed any noise nor unusual blind spots. It has never been in the shop other than for oil change. Mileage is in line with the EPA Fuel Economy Estimates. This vehicle handles very nicely and is fun to driveMay 08, 2013
