I bought my 2005 tahoe brand new , its 2024 and my transmission went out and oil pump just this last month. I paid 2200 for transmission and oil pump mind you this is the ONLY problems my tahoe has ever had. I got oil changes a day before it was needed every tune up as well shes got 220308 miles on her and the mechanic told me the engine is immaculate for its age and miles and that the engine is still very good. I cant complain at all as I paid the 2200 with a smile on my face. So many people have asked me if I want to sell it . I love my tahoe and I can say Ill never get rid of it. I took super good care of her maybe I over did it at times if I could post a picture of the day I bought to now inside and out I would . People if you take care of your cars unless of re calls Im sure your car will be good to you.. Apr 07, 2024

I have had two of them with very few problems up to 400500 miles. Parts are usually cheap and abundant. No lack of power for a gas mileage that isnt as bad as one would expect. An excellent blend of luxury and utility.Feb 22, 2022

The trucks and large SUVs from Chevrolet and GMC that were built on the GMT800 platform (1999-2006; Silverado, Sierra, Suburban, Yukon XL, Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Avalanche) will probably become known as the last best trucks GM ever bullt. They are still a great value if you can find a clean one. Apr 20, 2020

This Tahoe has been the best vehicle we have owned. We have never had any issues and no major repairs. It is the first vehicle my wife has owned more than 10 years. My only complaint is the third row seats. They are heavy and in the way even when you fold them up. May 27, 2015

Love this truck, very reliable, and never lacking the power or comfort, great gas mileage on long trips not so great in town. One of my all time favorite vehicles, this is the 2nd I've owned and am sure one day to get another.May 02, 2015

This is a great all around reliable low maintenance vehicle. Poor gas mileage around the city is the only negative. We use the vehicle for driving to work as well as periodic 200 mile trips to New Orleans, and several trips to Florida every year. We purchased the vehicle used a couple years ago and have changed the alternator, oil and filter since then. Tahoe's are expensive but do hold up to the reputation...Mar 21, 2015

Have owned the car for 6 years and now have 220,000 miles on the engine. Still running strong. I owned a 1997 Tahoe before this one and like the way that one handled better. More truck like, this Tahoe is more boat like. I would buy a Tahoe again, but would want the 3rd row.Feb 11, 2015

Dislike gas mileage but knew that going in. Better mileage than my 2002 Tahoe though, and wow, the upgrades they made to the Tahoe since 2002 are outstanding. Riding on 20" tires is very different but i like it very much. This vehicle is smooooth.Oct 29, 2014

I pretty much loved everything about this vehicle except the gas mileage. There was always plenty of room for everyone to ride and get their luggage in the back while also not feeling cramped. Also a very smooth ride for an SUV. The only con of this vehicle is the gas mileage in the city stop and go traffic, but in my opinion all the pros make up for it.Sep 14, 2014

I lowered the SUV as I felt it was took tall and susceptible to rolling over. The drop was 3/2 and perfect. I had airbags installed inside the springs to allow the towing of a boat. This was perfect as it operated as a load leveler.
All in all, I love the Tahoe and would buy another one when the family is ready to move on from the minivan!Jun 03, 2014

Family of 5 fit comfortably with room for groceries, Looks amazing. More than enough power for any hauling/towing. Very minor maintenance up until transmission needed rebuilt but at 160k it was not a surprise. Overall would recommend Tahoe to anyoneMar 20, 2014

Very happy with the Tahoe. Extremely reliable less a one time electrical gremlin, otherwise flawless. The 5.3L has 295 horsepower and 330 foot pounds of torque. Love the heated leather seats, the sunroof, dual climate control, and the smoothness of a cadillac with a Chevy logo on the grill. The push button 4x4 in and back to 2wd is VERY nice.

I'm probably writing my review too early because I just drove it for the first time yesterday (for a few hours) and going on a long road trip tonight or tomorrow. The first thing I noticed was how nice it handled the S curves. (I live in a rural mountainous area.) The guys I bought it from have a Tahoe as well, and they say this truck is great for towing and very powerful. (That was a primary reason for my purchase.) It's very roomy and quite comfortable. Lots of storage space. Back seats fold down for larger cargo area. Drove nice on the highway. Smooth ride. Lots of little storage places. Air-conditioning can be set separate for front seat and back seat. Same gas mileage as older trucks. So far I'm quite happy with my purchase!Jul 31, 2012

I loved this Tahoe! It has great space and options. It comfortably seats seven people and has so many different entertainment options. The dvd player was great, and has headphones so you can also listen to the radio or cd player at the same time.May 06, 2012

Overall this is vehicle is perfect for the family who doesn't want a minivan but needs the room. Although should you have more than two children you may want to consider the Suburban. Regardless, I have had both vehicles, one or the other over the last twelve years and can't see any reason to get anything else. It offers all the amenities that would come in a luxury vehicle at a more reasonable price. There are so many options to choose from and add on packages you will no doubt, ride in style no matter what your budget. I feel very safe in these vehicles as well as comfortable.Jan 17, 2012

I have owned this car for 6 years. Runs really well. 3rd seat. Very Very clean looks new inside and out. I am only selling it to get a Suburban, no other reason. Well taken care of. Just had a tune up and serviced. Has 3 t.v.s with dvd player, mp3, ipod hook ups. Tinted windows. I have loved this car!!Oct 19, 2011

Power: 5.7L, it will curb stomp you...even pulling a trailer
Looks: a little original and boxy, but I have no problem with retro
Maintenance: change the oil regularly, brakes, tires, and you're good to go.
Back Seats: Great, just not heated like the front. =/
Handling: sharp turn radius...for a truck of its size
Front Seats: Great. heated, a seat adjustment for everyone.
Reliability: Super, but i don't want to put my foot in my mouth.
Family Car: Yes, forget Soccer Van. Soccer SUV. =]
Fuel Economy: nothing like a Versa or Smart but good.
Price: CarMax
Cargo: this one doesn't have the third row seat, i could sleep in the back of this truck very comfortably.
Overall: couldn't ask for anything better, besides another one.Aug 22, 2011

I love my Tahoe. With a family of five, it carries all of us and friends. I would prefer to get better gas mileage but don't want to sacrifice the space! No major mechanical issues. Would highly recommend if you need the space!Mar 28, 2011

Our 2000 Chevy Tahoe LT is decked out, leathered out, and sittin on 35's. It has a 5.3 liter v-8 4:10, rear end, chipped, throttle body spacer, and 12 inches of lift. This truck can ride and pull all day long. If i had to trade in the truck I would only for another Chevy.Aug 12, 2009

The quality of this car is good. Performance on this car is great. Has great pep to it. Sterring is supper. Brakes are a little bit touchy but work really well. Air conditioner and heat works really well too that goes from the front to the back. Enough room to sit 8 people and still have enough leg room. Could fold down 2nd row and take out 3rd row to make bigger room to carry bigger stuff. Great at towing almost anything. But high on the cost of gas. Fun to drive.Feb 02, 2009

I don't dislike anything about the car. It's perfect. It runs good, air conditioning is good. XM Radio, CD Player, Radio in the back seat, seat warmers. This car is really fun to drive especially when going fast because you don't feel like bumps you feel that rush of awesomeness.Oct 25, 2008
