Older car by most standards but if you can get into one at low miles there’s still plenty of fun to be had. These car if well maintained are still just as comfortable as they were almost 20 years ago. Insurance won’t be happy with you if your a new driver in around the $400 range.Jan 23, 2025

The 09-11 335d with M57 engine is an absolute rocket ship, acceleration is like being fired out of a cannon. Paired with the sport package it becomes a jet fighter, superb handling. This car was in superb shape, low miles, always owned in the Southwest (no salt), and every option available except maybe the rear sun shades, which are rare. My 440 mile trip home at 75-80 with A/C took 12.2 gal and resulted in 35.7mpg, its currently getting ~24 on my city commute.Apr 08, 2024

Ive had 3 of these in a convertible. In 2007 didnt have the big oil cooler. They corrected that and the best years were 2011,2012, 2013. The 335is is the fastest but the 335i aint no slouch. Love it. Mar 06, 2024

I have a E92 335i, I absolutely love it besides the everlasting maintenance. The car handles very well and it is quick. It’s very easy and relatively cheap to add power as well with just a few bolt ons. Either way you go both the auto and manual are pretty good. For more power go manual for a very fun daily the auto works great and shifts quick with almost no delay in the paddles. There is plenty of aftermarket support and plenty of info on everything about the car with forums. Gas mileage isn’t bad if you keep your foot out of it, also you can only run 93 unless tuned for E85 or whatever. The outside of the car has kept up and still looks very good even to newer models. The interior is starting to feel slightly outdated the seats are very nice but the infotainment center isn’t like anything today but can also be updated. The cars over 10 so just keep that in and mind and Just make sure you have some money set aside for maintenance. Oct 28, 2021

I love this car. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a sport convertible. BMW's are just fun to drive! They are also reliable, and come standard with a lot of safety features including BMW assist. The twin turbo 6 cylinder packs 300 HP under the hood and is a force to be reckoned with! Apr 17, 2015

Love my BMW. I feel very safe driving my car and with the BMW free maintenance and towing program I save money on oil changes and routine maintenance. The car accelerates smoothly when entering the highway and overall braking and handling is excellent.Apr 16, 2015

This car is fun to drive! It handles beautifully and even inclement weather is no match for this vehicle with xDrive/AWD. Everyday I discover something new I didn't realize was included when I purchased this vehicle, like the steering wheel warmer and memory seat positioning. The 328i xDrive provides a serenely smooth drive with outstanding safety ratings.Mar 12, 2015

I loved everything about this car, from the amazing interior with dazzling lights, phenomenal sound system, spot on handling and smooth ride, super comfortable seats, voice command. Not a lot of room in the back, but this really isn't a family car. Extremely responsive, sounds meaty with the top down, smooth effective brakes - although you only need the brakes to stop as it can handle any cornering situation. I will literally cry when it is gone...
Most amazing car I have ever owned - bar none. It is the ultimate driving machine.Sep 17, 2014

Overall: Great car, fun for a few years, very quickly got old when the miles built up and maintenance caught up to it out of warranty. Wouldn't recommend this car except to those obsessed with BMW/luxury cars.
Performance: Two thumbs way up. Even with the base 230hp this car is fun to drive.
Quality: Mixed bag. Car is solid and will run when cared for, but many parts are electrically integrated (e.g. water pump) and will fail after a period of time with little warning. It's absolutely critical to stay on the maintenance timeline. Be careful with off-brand parts too - stick to OEM.
Appearance: It's a BMW.
Maintenance: This is a bear and my biggest dislike. Realize when you buy a luxury car you will battle the impression that you are rich and naive about your car, and can be taken advantage of.
Cost of ownership: Very high. Know what you're getting into.Jun 04, 2014

Beware: once you go BMW you'll never have the taste for anything else.
The car is solid, fast, fuel efficient, looks great and very reliable. What mostly impressed me is its performance in heavy snow with all season tires. I'll never drive anything else. Mar 06, 2014

This is a great car for anyone looking for a 3 series BMW. The extra 25HP really does make a difference from the plain 335. It is an athletic vehicle and looks great. This is the closest car to an M3 that an individual can own, while not having to spend over $50,000. All around this is a great car to own. Aug 22, 2013

Ive basically only owned trucks but have been lucky enough to drive some very nice cars but never a BMW. I rode in one on the Autobahn(the only play to truly experience driving a car) but that was is. While shopping for cars I test drove everything and this car blew everything away. Yes, it might not have all the fancy options of a newer car but who really needs everything on a car. I do believe my most exciting thing has been the gas mileage. I have been able to average 20city and 30hwy without babying car at all. Unless you are just wanting a rocket ship(335i), the 328 has all the horsepower you could ever want and stays outta your pocket at the pump. Also love the all-wheel drive, it doesnt have that front wheel drive feel, you can tell it has that sporty rear wheel drive feel but is still a very capable bad weather car. The steering is also a huge plus, so tight and responsive. I feel like i can put this car exactly where i want and its just going to sit down and huge the road. My only disappointment is the back seats, space wise I wasnt expecting much but they are not comfortable, so if you are wanting a car with that you should look elsewhere. Not sure why they are so upright and hard but luckily i spend my time in the drivers seat! Hopefully this helps anyone looking!Jul 28, 2013

This BMW 335i sport is one of the smoothest manual transmissions I have ever driven. Handles smooth, tight turning and all together grips the road with complete control. I can't say enough about this car. Has stylish maple oak trim, the most beautiful red interior ever and a sound system to die for. Nov 26, 2012

The car has ample power to overtake many cars on the road and cruises at 80 mph quietly and effortlessly. The interior is plain but clean with comfortable leather seats that are heated when needed. The audio system is excellent especially for the driver with an under-seat sub woofer built in and auxiliary jack in the center console. Oil changes are expensive but last for 12k miles instead of the standard 3k miles although I'd go for every 7,500 miles.Apr 02, 2012

Everything is just fantastic about the BMW 335i. It is economical unless you have a heavy foot. ROutinely gets 30mpg around town. Brakes are ure, ride is comfortable for long trips, has plenty of cargo space for its size. I dislike the runflats - and will replace with regular tires when these are worn. Yes the fuel pump was replaced , but in a recall it was covered and caused no big delays, especially when the BMW Location had a loaner.
The car can handle difficult situations, has more than enough power, and like all BMW is safe and you can't put a price tag on safety.
I was not sure I would like the style, but it actually grew on us and now it is very pleasant.Mar 12, 2012

Best handling car ever, thigh and grippy. It is a blast to drive it in any
weather condition. At last a car that make you feel really in total control.
Now I want a 335. The only issue is the lack of leg room in the back seat...Dec 04, 2011

Performance - sportscar acceleration with never-ending power band. Steering
response is equally excellent. Braking is good, but fades a bit after long
periods of spirited driving (which is to be expected). Handling is very good, but
lacks a limited slip differential for balls-to-the-wall driving. The DTC is too
invasive.
Build Quality - commensurate with a BMW. Solid, with no issues.
Appearance - definitely a sleeper. The only thing that differentiates this from
the 320i's is the dual exhaust and the 330i badge, which means lots of people
will mistake it for a 320i, and challenge it as such, with disastrous results.
Cost of Ownership - definitely a gas guzzler, but my company pays for my fuel,
so whatever :-)
Fun Factor - Ummmm, this is a BMW. Sep 13, 2011

When the transmission is set to "sport" mode the car runs aggressively...very
nice throttle tip in and shift points. During deceleration the car does not
freewheel but acts much more like a manual driven correctly, down shifting as
the car slows to a stop so that it is always poised to accelerate. With the
"normal" gear selection the transmission up shifts just a little too quickly,
although the torque curve of the 3.0 is flat enough not to bog the car down.
I like the space gray color as it is close to the sterling gray on the 2011 Mustang
GT which I really wanted but the lease deals were no where near compatible to
BMW's offerings. I am very happy with the standard features of the car and
the only two items I am not happy with are the run-flat tires, however I was
lucky to have the Contis vs. the Bridgestones. I want my Extreme Contact DWS
from my previous BMW and I will take a chance on a flat. At least give us a
choice BMW!
I have driven the car a whopping 400+ miles in the first month so I will save
further comments until I have at least 3K miles on her. Jun 16, 2011

Awesome car in all aspects. Perfect handling,
great quality, great driving comfort, great
looks, great safety features...Oh, the only
thing that could be improved is the cap holder
design and placement, apparently the Germans
don't drink in their cars ;)
While on OEM warranty you need a good dealer
service so make sure you keep looking until you
find one that is satisfactoryMar 13, 2011

Performance - Great acceleration and handling. Brakes aren't the best, but a
car for daily driving, I can't really complain. The car operates off a 3.0 Liter
Engine (N54) that's forced induced with twin turbo chargers. 300 hp and 300 lb.
of torque for a bone stock 335i.
Build Quality - Driving dynamics is impeccable and I can't think of many cars that
can put you in the driver's seat like a BMW can. Being made by the Germans,
electronics isn't too reliable nor is many parts on the car, but the craftsmanship
is excellent.
Appearance - Tasteful yet subtle interior and exterior styling. The gauges are
visible and simple, no flashy gadgets or annoying beeps when you get in the
car, the exterior is magnificent and they really did a good job designing the
taillights and the side view of the car.
Cost of Ownership - Go buy a Toyota or Honda if you're looking for something
cheap to maintain. If you get the car warrantied, that's a different story. Gas
mileage is pretty decent for biturbos actually at an estimated 28 on the
highway and 20 in the city, mixed is about 22.
Fun Factor - Oh yes, lots of torque at my disposal and with a $600 chip, 100
horsepower and torque can be added on an otherwise stock 335i.Jan 05, 2011

Performance: Couldn't be better. Surprisingly quick, feels strong through all the gears, and feels like there's a magnet holding it to the road without feeling heavy.
Build quality: Unlike most cars anymore, attention was given to detail. All the materials inside and out look and feel as solid as can be. "Squeak" and "rattle" are not within the vocabulary of this car.
Appearance: Difficult to provide a true "score". I personally think that it's a beautiful car; clean and refined, but still enough architectural interest to set it apart from the rest of the crowd. On the other hand however, I know people who think it's generic and boring.
Cost of ownership: Anyone I've ever spoken to who has one claims that the cost of owning one is relatively low. (Aside from the actual car payment itself.) All other costs aside from tires are covered by BMW. No money for oil changes, brakes, or anything else associated with other cars.
Fun factor: Enormous. Once you get in the car, you don't want to get out.Dec 23, 2008

This car was fantastic! Twin turbos took me to 60 in 5 seconds, and just think, adding a chip will give it north of 400hp and ftlb torque to get you to 60 in 4 seconds. I cant explain how nice the transmission felt, clutch engages fast and the gear shifts were so smooth. Amazing.Dec 09, 2008

Great car with brilliant engine, probably the best engine ever built by BMW. Very solid vehicle with awesome styling and real easy to drive, it actually make the driver look good with the way it handles. To top it off it doesnt cost a cent to maintain for 4 Yrs/ 50k Miles, how can you beat that?Jul 16, 2008

What an amazing car! Not only is it beautiful on the inside and out, it
handles like no other. The interior is beautifully assembled and is very
luxurious but simple in function. The engine although only has 215 bhp
is still plenty powerful and has some of the silkiest acceleration. The 6
spd. manual transmission is a perfect combo for this engine.Jun 27, 2008

The BMW 3-Series has always been a benchmark for Compact Luxury Sports sedans. The newly redesigned 3-Series sedan (aka E90) is no exception. It's pure driving excitement that one must drive to fully understand. This is truly an "Ultimate Driving Machine." :)May 05, 2008

If you can put up with a bit of diesel clatter (especially for a luxury car), it is worthwhile getting this diesel. The torque when overtaking, or going up hills even when fully loaded is amazing, better then many petrol 6 cylinders.
My best run measured 5L/100km fuel consumption, which would give me 1350km per tank if I could sustain that for the entire journey. However the engine being such a hard worker makes you want to step on it and feel the surge, so for a country drive, with some hills and overtaking, expect around 5.5-6.Feb 10, 2008
