This car had good acceleration, good braking, and good handling. It needed motors in all the windows they did not roll up or down. The interior was good it was kinda water stained. The exterior was great, no dents. Gas mileage was great. I loved driving this car because of the loud muffler. Oct 19, 2011

I bought it for $1200 and it was a great car. 5 speed manual, and for a compact car, it had good performance. AC could be colder but it's fine and it's R134, so its easy to refill. Good handling, fun to drive. I would definitely buy another again in a heartbeat. I loved this car and it was an amazing running car, especially for $1200, with 170,000 miles.Oct 17, 2011

I bought this car car when it was 6 years
old. I have it for almost 8 years now and
I still love it. It still runs smoothly.
The body is still clean with only tiny
(less than 1/2 inch) rust spots. Gas
mileage is still great (27 - 28 mpg) with
a majority of highway driving. In the
years I've had it, had to replace
muffler, CO2 sensor and catalytic
converter. Otherwise, all i pay for are
oil changes and gas. I'm at 160k miles
now and i'm sure it will get to 200k.Oct 29, 2010

handles awesome, quick mid to top speed acceleration.
slow from a start, but quick once its moving
built to last, styling is nice, good gas mileage, cheap to maintain, has some performance options out there
one of the best cars in its class and the name is still around today, bringing an even better altima into the game

It was spunky and reliable. We still have it and it has most of its orignal parts with exception to the distributor that went bad my senior year of high school. Never had major problems outof the car and it's still kicking. Just as spunky as the day we bought it.Oct 07, 2009

this car had potential when i got it but i started pushing it past its limits. performance wise, it had a coneair filter, muffler, and spark plug wires. i had a lot of fun in this car although it gave me so muchtrouble lol..Jul 27, 2009

If you are looking for a car that won't leave your pockets empty while still being comfortable and have decent performance, the Altima is a win. I managed to go up to 200km/h with this ride without having an accident. The suspension is a bit too soft which means the road holding is not at it's best but it's not designed to be a sport car anyway. Seats are comfortable. Some issues with the transmission as it's a bit harshy on 1st to 2nd gear. I used to make less than 500km with a 55L tank which is unacceptable but understandable for a car that has some age. Engine is good and has good throttle response but the transmission is a pain in the ass. Standard equipment is good for the time, with all the electric group (power windows, power locks, A/C etc). I recommand this car because it's cheap to buy while still giving you a lot for your money.Jul 15, 2009

For the Year (96') its a badass car. I mean the handling and Accel, are amazing. If i take off hard it shifts out of 1st gear at a high rpm, which in my eyes is awesome. All and All there is nothing wrong with it, beside the fact that it has 150,000 miles in it thats the only not so great thing. Its alot of fun to driveJul 14, 2009

Decent acceleration, handles great, brakes confidently. Pretty good build quality, it's still held up after all of these years. Good gas mileage, low maintenance, and to be honest, you can make anything fun to drive. It just amounts to how big your balls are.Jul 02, 2008

Fun to drive, good steering feel. Good brakes. Transmission had problems though after 4-5 years. Few electrical problems with the dash, nothing serious just annoying.Jul 01, 2008

I love this car, it could have a little more get-up and go, but besides that the brakes are more than adequate and it handles great! Solid build quality, the interior never gets boring to stare at and it is not a "surprise!" car like we all know Alfas can be. I added some H&R springs, Tokico struts, Nissan Sentra SE-R 17's, a Magnaflow muffler and K&N intake, and a Fidanza short-throw shifter, couldn't be happier!Jun 27, 2008

I love the way it feels to be behind the wheel. It's like home. But I miss my 1993 manual Altima - it had alot more pick-up. These cars last forever if you treat them well. It gets pretty good gas mileage but I'm dreaming of a Prius.Jun 24, 2008

Love the engine though it was not 100% when I bought it. I can feel it's once lingering "special edition-ness" when I go for city driving.May 17, 2008

It's not a very exciting car, really slow with an automatic transmission, but it does have a lot of grip. It's hard to get comfortable, can't find a good compromise between the steering and pedal distance.
The car's been in the family for 13 years, it didn't have many major problems until the last year, where it wouldn't pass emissions, $300 later it passed, got the tabs and promptly traded it in. But other than that it was pretty dependable. It averaged about 24 MPG during its time with us.May 01, 2008

Dark green. Has nice wing tip. All the lights work. Brakes are very good. Gets about 21mpg in the city, but close to 30mpg oh the highway. Sunroof. Has about 139, xxx miles.Apr 03, 2008

Everyone says that Nissan makes the most reliable engines ever; and they weren't lying. My mom still drives this, and even with its 175,000 miles on it, I've never had to repair it (myself or for her). The paintjob's clearcoat seems to have suffered, and that may pose rust problems in the future, but it's a very comfortable and sound car otherwise. Despite its reliability, it suffers a little in fuel efficiency as compared to the other 4-cyl sedans that I've owned.Mar 26, 2008

It was my first car. I had to love it. As an economy import, the Altima represents a mildly
classy interior with an average exterior appearance for the year. The seats were notably
comfortable. While it may not stand out in a crowd, reliability was very important as this
was previously my dad's ride. Having high mileage didn't stop it from getting me from one
place to the next with more style than my friends who were driving older, uglier cars. It
may not be anyone's dream car, but the Nissan Altima is a great start.Mar 15, 2008

Very reliable, great size inside and out. I loved this car and took care of it, sold in back in 2004. I would definately own another Altima, newer of course.Mar 10, 2008

i bought it as a used, but good interior, no leaking sunroof, all i need for this car is a fuel bump, new battery, new tires, mp3 player, 4 speakers, new headlight and thats it, nothing else. Gas saving in its class, good handling, just a tiny bit of understeering. Jan 30, 2008
