The Escape with the 3L v. 6 Duratec engine is a beast - with regular maintenance (oil changes, automatic transmission fluid changes, etc.) it will easily make it to 250K miles. Apr 10, 2024

I love the features. This is something to learn about. I am already starting to get use to driving this vehicle. This is an excellent value for the vehicle. From what it looks like on this vehicle is nothing is missing. Just learning the new features on it is great and you start to get learn them. We compared this vehicle with our old one and this one is a lot better then our 2007 Ford Escape xlt. That is why I gave a excellent remark on the vehicle. Feb 16, 2024

Features are great, as long as they all work! Its a good value, as long as the car is checked out by a 3rd party mechanic. Three out of four Ford Escapes I have considered have issues with manifold and spark plug oil leaks, suggesting the possibility of more serious problems . I like the body style, so will continue looking for reasonable low mileage without serious mechanical indicators.Jan 19, 2024

The car looks ok from the pictures, but the interior and exterior has obviously been flooded. There is a strong odor on the inside due to flooding. There is major rust on the inside and out.Dec 26, 2023

I have three right now, ranging 2008 to 2012. I have owned many escapes with this year range. I love them, great gas mileage, very simple. Lots of room. Will continue to buy. Apr 12, 2022

Ive had two of this body style with the 3.0 V6.
One went 399,997 miles before the transmission finally went out.
The other I sold with 340,000 miles and I still see it being driven in town. Mar 06, 2022

I am currently driving a 2002 Ford Escape XLT awd with 266,000+ miles on it. The vehicle was a year old when purchased and had approximately 25,000 miles on the odometer. It has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned in 54 years of driving.
The 2010 thru 2012 is normally aspirated and slightly larger than the 2013 on. I am familiar with the vehicle and can do a lot of the common maintenance on it.May 15, 2021

Its not too big, moves around in traffic well, great get up and go. For me its the right size for my job, plus big enough to comfortably carry me and my granddaughters on our adventures whether big or small. I am a life long Ford driver! Mar 17, 2021

I have owned four Escapes. The 2011 and 2012 with V-6 are the best all around for power low maintenance and good looks. 2012 was the last year of V-6. Also last model good for towing. If you just want to pickup school kids you can get by with 2013+Feb 05, 2021

Having done my research, it turns out the Escape is one of the more reliable vehicles on the road. One heads up though: on the 2011 and earlier models, make sure the PTU fluid is changed--the location of the PTU (surrounded by hot-running parts) was an issue because the fluid would break down and this could cause problems with the rear wheels. Ford did a recall and fix on the issue, so make sure your Escape had it done. If you pay attention to the PTU fluids being filled every 25-30K miles, youre good. Other than this, its a solid SUV.Dec 09, 2020

The car saved my life and I will always be grateful, I hit a male deer two weeks ago and I felt so safe in the Escape bit before that I had owned it for two years and it was my favorite vehicle I’ve owned. It drive really great and the features were great too. The v6 engine had good power. Definitely buying another hopefully soon because unfortunately none was totaled. Nov 15, 2020

Since I am only averaging somewhere around 5-6,000 mile a year and only have 29,000 miles on the SUV now, it should and can get me to the day I give up driving altogether. ( I hope). The automobile is so easy to drive with great road handling and it is very comfortable. It also has all the bells and whistles that you could ever want, with cargo space galore, 17" tires and it is a beautiful car to look at. What more can I say. I love the car.Jan 16, 2015

Handled well in the winter. Great MPG. Lots of room. Good for kids and pets. Moon roof was awesome. The Sync system was more interactive than OnStar. XM radio was a super bonus. Highly recommend to anyone considering themselves a road warrior.Apr 28, 2014

The 4WD version of this Ford Escape handled great in the snow...glad to have it during this past winter of 2013/2014. Seems roomier than other SUVs of this class, and the seats are more comfortable. The ride is smooth for a 4WD SUV.Feb 04, 2014

120,000 miles and only two days in the shop. Once for a manufacturer's recall on the radiator and another for a worn pulley. With regular maintenance, this SUV has served me well as a daily driver, emergency response vehicle, and equipment hauler for just about everything. It's great in the snow and ice, and drives smoothly for long days on the road.
I would highly recommend the V6 as it doesn't leave you wanting for more on the highway and pulls your average trailer with ease.Apr 29, 2013

Car is great, overall quality is good. The vehicle gets great gas mileage. Some of the components in the vehicle such as the seats could use some redesigning in the 2008 version as they get dirty easily. Overall a great vehicle!Jul 14, 2012

I've driven this car just under 12 months, and still love it. It looks great, is very comfortable to ride in and handles well.
My fuel economy is as good or slightly better than that of the '04 Honda CRV - which was a 4 cyl. - and the Escape is a 6 cyl.
The only repair that has been done was to have the rear struts modified by a mechanic to fix a design flaw which caused undesirable wear on the rear tires. Seems that Ford could have rectified this by now, but apparently, the struts are positioned to help with the 'roll over' issue... never mind that it causes undue wear of the rear tires.
Unless things change drastically, my next vehicle may very well be another Escape.
Oh, and the repair costs are lower than for the Honda... a good thing when 'issues' arise.Feb 03, 2012

I really enjoy my 2010 Ford Escape XLT. I purchased the Sport Appearance package that is all black, including rims, grill, and interior. Only having the vehicle for about 5 weeks I have had no issues except that I did downgrade from a Trailblazer so the size is substantially different. Comfortability is lost a bit in the rear seat for full sized adults (or our teen son.) Fuel efficiency is a bit better, although I did go with the V6 so we are averaging 21 mpg. The V6 performance is worth the mileage if you downgrade from a larger SUV. The appearance package is very nice, although the styling is about due for a change. Quality is about the same as other similarly sized vehicles such as RAV4, CRV, or the Equinox.Jan 03, 2010

The acceleration is suprisingly quick for being a four cylinder engline. Braking is great, even in the snow. Gas mileage is great, about 21 mpg in the city in the winter, can't wait to see how it is in the summer.
The features are awesome. It comes with 6 months fre Sirius, moonroof, great sounding stereo and speakers, power windows, doors, and locks and much more.
It's a great vehicle and fun to drive, definitely recommended.Jan 28, 2009
