Was just given one by a neighbour after it stood for ten yrs outside under a tarp. A Deluxe version with roof console with map reading light, interior light and clock with chrome overriders on bumpers front and rear. Maybe it was just an Australian version. Anyway, I changed all fluids, hoses and it started after 20 secs of cranking. Unreal!
It has just 61K kms on it so I intend respraying it in its original burnt orange colour and will use it on Club plates which any vehicle over 30 yrs is eligible to be on.
It runs beautifully but may need new brakes due to inactivity.
All I will do is fit a CD player and I will have a cheap runabout Jan 31, 2011

This is the only car I have ever owned that I sold for more money "used" than I paid for the car "NEW". We once drove 250 mile with 4 adults and 2 kids and luggage and still averaged over 30 mpg. What a great car!Feb 24, 2010

What can be said other than it is a Honda. Had it 2 days and the engine blew. Dad bought me a new 1900 CC,tossed it in and I was back in business.
Got mad, went back to New Orleans and Alternator gave out. Bought a new one, couldn't get the mounting bolt all the way in so "wedged it" in. Ah what a dumbass I was back then :)Dec 15, 2009

I ran 120,000+ miles on mine - 13" American Racing wheels & T/A tires. It handled like a slot car - got 45 mpg on hwy & 35+ in town. Had factory am/fm & needed the following:
new front fenders - dealer replaced for free
new head - cracked when timing belt broke
I wish I had it back! New car payment + $115/month for 36 months with $500 down... $2300 sticker price
1197 cc engine ran on regular

A rollerskate! Cheap and tinny, but fantastic mileage (33/42) that few cars have ever equaled. Brakes? WHAT brakes? Only chickens want to stop anyway. This was a car for GO! It would hold the road on turns even better than the center stripe. Very tiny, yet more comfortable for me that a big American hog. Fun beyond words. Now, at 31 years old (the car, not me) I have begun to restore it.Mar 31, 2009

My first, car that is. In 1985 this car was "out" but I loved it.
Big on the inside and really cool looking with the hood scoops,
2 pairs! I think I will buy another in the next couple of years for
my soon to be driving son. Oh yeah and for me. Feb 16, 2009

Transmission went out at twenty-one days and 700 miles. The dealer kept the car for 37 straight days. Needed plugs every 3200 miles and the hatch rusted out at twelve months and 9000 miles. It was fun to drive and got excellent mileage when it happened to be roadworthy. My next Civic, a '99 model, was a little better but not much. This thing about Honda quality is way overated. Worst cars I have ever owned. Gimme a Chrysler any day!Dec 29, 2008

This was my second car out of High School. I could not afford the gas for the 1973 GTO that I had so I sold it and bought a blue CIVIC Coupe. It came with 12" wheels but I put oversized mag rims (13") and tires and it looked fabulous. I needed a small car so that I could get married. I remember them driving away from our wedding reception with us in the back seat. It was our limo. It was great on gas, easy to fix and I knew it like the back of my hand. I remember driving it across Kansas at temps below 0 and the engine never moved above cold. It never left me down. I got in an accident one morning when a driver slide in snow into the frontend. I survived but the car did not. It was a great loss to me and I want to buy another one. That was in 1980.

This is my project car, a 1978 civic cvcc with 5 speed manual trans. It's been sitting for quite some time, and it does not run. It will need to be completely redone. People say these cars were fun to drive, very economical, and had a revolutionary engine design. Looking forward to getting it running!Jul 20, 2008

45 mpg, no payments, cheap insurance, easy to work on, easy to find (most) parts, chic value, easy to park. 1200cc easy to modify (NOT a CVCC), no smog required in California.Jun 27, 2008

This was my high school car, and it was the best thing going. $3.00 filled up the tank at the time, and it seemed to run forever on that little tank of gas. It took us everywhere. When it got too old and feeble, it was small enouogh to drive and hold the passsenger door closed at the same time! Jan 31, 2008

the honda civics came out in July 1972 and have been pretty popular since. They are great gas savers. The first ones were really small but gradually got biggerDec 31, 2007
