The car definitely wasn't built for power but the handling is pretty good. Mine has 187,000 miles on it and I've owned for 1+ year. No major problems, just normal wear and tear for a car that's 15 yrs old. Rockers have rust issues, especially when you live in ND. Overall, I love the car and would recommend one in good condition to my friends. These trannys can have problems, so beware of that.Sep 17, 2014

good car, looks awesome, the only problem is that it's rather slow. i did a 1/4 mile in
17.3 @ 82 mph. That's really slow. Good thing about it thought, is that it shares
the same engine as the Mitsubishi eclipse/talon non-turbo, so they make a lot of
aftermarket parts for it.Jun 18, 2011

I had a killer stereo , 2 amps , 2 subs, spent well over 2000$ . I loved this car. Great looks. Mine was dark green with a grey interior. Mileage was very good while the performance was also quite good. Had to fold the back seats down on long trips so that the amps didn't overheat. Mar 06, 2011

Car accelerates very fast, as well as stops almost instanly. Handles like race car.
I bought this car used so the build quality isn't the best, it's got a small dent in the driver door, and a missing inner fender well on the passenger side due to a collision, but has been replaced.
The car (in my own opinion) looks mean, fast, and aggressive. I've always wanted one of these and it just blows my mind that its sitting in my garage.
Gas mileage is so-so. average of 18 mpg, depends on my driving lol.
This car is VERY fun to drive. It's wayyy more than i origionally expected. Oct 06, 2010

Clean smooth lines-nice curves. 4 cyl. 5sp. is fun to drive-speed parts available-easy to install. Handles very nicely. Interior styling rather bland but functional. Gas-30mpg hwy.. Build quality is good-Chry. & Mitsub.. Maint. costs avg.. Will seat 4 relatively comfortably.Jun 10, 2010

This car was great, believe it or not. The 2.5 v6 could have been bigger, but it had ample power. I the 90,000 miles I owned the car, all that needed fixed was; 1 battery, tune-up at 60,000, 1 rear wheel bearing, brakes all the way around, and 2 sets of tires.Oct 28, 2009

I love this car, I will drive it til it can't be drove anymore.
Overall its a sporty and reliable car.
Performance: It needs a bigger engine, and def. a new tranny.
Build Quality: Everything is good but the door handle quality sucks, they break off easy.
Appearance: Overall I love the appearance of my car. The only bad thing on mine is that there are a few dents.Oct 23, 2009

All around awesome car thats all i have to say about that! Great on gas, no mechanical problems normally. If you keep up on the basic changes and make sure its well maintained then this car will run like a champ!Sep 03, 2009

Japanese engine and American style. Best of both worlds. Cousin car to the Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Eagle Talon. Custom exhaust system by Magnaflow and 2.5" pipes from the manifold w/ hi-flow cat. Great on fuel and performance. Custom throughout.Aug 31, 2009

I've just turned 188,000 miles on my Avenger. I have the manual 5-speed with the 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine. Even with the mileage I still get 30 mpg around town and close to 40 on the road. Eat your heart out Honda owners. This car just doesn't know when to quit. Handles like a dream and does everything I've ever asked it to do. I only wish I could find another just like it for my son. I'm the original owner and, except for routine maintenance, have had very few needed repairs. It's simply the best car I've ever owned. Fun to drive and totally reliable. It may have a wide turning radius, but who cares when you can get the kind of mileage along with the eye-catching lines and the honest fun-to-drive abilities it posseses. I would NOT be willing to trade it for any other car.
PS: I'm 6'3" and it fits me fine.Jun 21, 2009

Got this car used for 2,500. A little over 100,000 miles and still runs great. The previous owner was dumb and drilled holes in the exhaust so it sounds a little bad, but thats gonna be fixed good. I love everything about this car. Its got good torque, good braking, great on gas, and it looks amazing too!Jul 28, 2008

built with a plastic feel. leather interior is very nice and bucket-like seats. doors and interior frame is terribly weak. exterior is strong. good sound system stock. decent power for the car. heavy car. turning is slow and not too sharp as i would like. appearance is good. sport feel overall. good tires and suspension even stock. after hitting 35 miles per hour ( which is a slow acceleration up to that point) it begins to rocket up until about 100 miles an hour then it can inch up to 140 or 145 as it's speed limit.Jun 15, 2008

this is a very Family friendly car, though its sporty coupe body isn't great for getting friends in the back seats, there is still enough room for your kids, the power is noticable but not over the top, road noise is minimal those in the front seats will find they have more than enough leg room for a 6'5" person. over all the car is strong safe and fun while being conservative and reliable. Interior is decent, though I have made changes. Have leather seat covers, put in a CD player,
laser/radar detector, green light... Exterior red, no dents or scratches. Performance is great!Mar 30, 2008

Performance: The 2.0L is small, but for the little motor my car goes quite fast. 35 in 1st gear, 60 in 2nd, 80 in 3rd and then on to 115 (top speed isnt its high point)
Looks: The car looks great! The body style has got an Muscle car look to it, it dosent resemble the Jap cars( im Muscle ALL THE WAY)Jan 11, 2008

Great car. the doors opened well, it had those amazing grooves on the hood, and the engine sounded great. it was a little slow, at just over 170 hp, but held it's own compared to most entry level cars. power driver seat, a/c, power mirrors and windows (including sun roof). i enjoyed owning it, for sure.Jan 09, 2008
