The Mk V was my favorite GTI in 2012. Bought a 2009 with low mileage and had stage 3 performance package done with a trusted mechanic. At $23k, it has been the greatest driving performance ever and I have been a GTI nut ever since.

Appearance - The car looks great in Black, just hard to keep clean Cost of ownership - Excellent gas mileage, maintenance is a little costly but distance from service to service is great (15 000km) Fun Factor - Car is great, makes a nice exhaust note and fun to play around with but then can also be driven well.
June 13, 2010Great performance, excellent torque in the low RPM range. Good bang for your buck performance. Good fuel efficiency. The DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) transmission is AMAZING!!!!!...best tranny in a car under $100,000. I swear by it. If you buy this car you have to get the DSG!

September 13, 2009- Acceleration is very good in the first 3 gears - Braking is solid - Handles like a Porsche Cayman - Build quality is great - very well put together. - Exterior appearance isn't perfect but its sporty. Interior is gorgeous. - Cost of ownership - not much at all. - Extremely fun to drive.
May 11, 2009Acceleration and brakes are quite perfect, if you once drive it on sport mode you will never drive it normally you need to spend on it if you drive it violently it looks nice with german best interior quality its cost is affordable compared to other german cars, it dose not consume too much gas. fun to drive
October 31, 2011I love the size and accelaration and transmission. Handling around the turns is very managable and terrific. Its grey with red trim, and looks extremely attractive. It is very fun to drive and faster out of the hole than many other cars have come across.
March 4, 2010get new tires off the bat for starters. With a chip, it will be as fast as an S4. The inside is pretty good quality, there is a ton of features on this car and for a decent price. Mine averages 32 mpg all around, if i drive nicely or 27 mpg if i beat the piss out of it. No cost maintenance warrant is pretty cool. I love to drive it hard into a corner, and then accelerate hard out. It really is a little rocketship.
July 24, 2009Autobahn Package includes a higher top speed limiter, 18 wheels with summer semi-slick tires, performance bucket seats, and VW premium navigation with 30g hard drive. It is a great cruiser and also a lot of fun around the bends. LOVE IT
October 8, 2009This Volkswagen GTI gets about 29/31 miles per gallon. It is a 6 speed manual with a turbo. It has remote power door locks, power mirrors, low fuel level warning, turn signal in mirrors, dual illuminating vanity mirrors, 4 wheel abs, remote anti-theft alarm system and also daytime running lights.
September 20, 2013Its handling is awesome and it picks up speed really fast, shifts through the gears well. Never gone in for repairs, 2 door which is awesome and has black tint. I get around 240 miles per tank if i drive normally, its an awesome car to drive especially when dicing other cars!
