2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV Reviews, Pricing & Specs

After replacing a transmission, the radio, having my engine blow due to a valve spring, then motor mounts, then the headlights not working, I should have burned it and have a glass of champagne while I watch. All this at just less than 200,000km. how can I forget, all of the regular maintenance with it, brakes, shocks, ball joints, tires, I have spent way too much money on this. Mar 01, 2022

Cadillac has been around ever since the early 1900s. As we probably all know that been one of the status symbol of the rich and famous. Not only that, back in the early 1900s, Cadillac introduced the world’s first successful electric self-starter, which led to the pioneering V-8 engines that was installed in all models in 1915. Ever since then, Cadillac has maintained its reputation for luxury and innovation throughout its models. Even in today’s standard, Cadillac vehicles are still continuing to be top of the line. We all agree that Americans love driving large vehicles. Cadillac’s response to this demand, Cadillac produced the first generation Escalade in 1998. The Escalade is built on General Motor’s heavy-duty truck chassis, therefore technically making all Escalade classified as a truck. Cadillac’s view for the Escalade is to produce the ultimate luxury SUV, with the same power and durability of a truck. The vehicle I am reviewing is the 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV. This Escalade is the 3rd generation of the Escalade line. Cadillac still kept the design of this vehicle to be built on the same chassis as other General Motor SUVs and trucks. Included in this generation are technological marvels such as state-of-the-art satellite navigation systems magnetic suspension systems, and other features that sets Cadillac apart from other luxury brands. I spent countless hours driving this piece of technological marvel. That phrase, “Rides like a Cadillac”, really live up to its name when you are behind of the wheel of this car. Compared to my Jeep Grand Cherokee, the ambience of the Escalade is very breathtaking. Being in the driver seat of one these things makes you feel like you are the “King of the Road”. General Motor really did outdid themselves in the experience of driving this car. Just imagine yourself sitting on heated leather and controlling the car down the road as you feel the heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. That is the kind of experience that you get with this Escalade. When you buy a car, you don’t only look at how it feels inside, but also its curb appearance. Everyday in America, countless people make sure that their cars look their best when they arrive at their destinations. Cadillac had this in mind when they had the Escalade in their designing stage. The Cadillac Escalade grabs the attention of many people around town. When I reach my destination, I always try to park farthest away from the entrance, for the reason of people accidently damaging the paint when they open their doors. On this Escalade, Cadillac painted it Diamond White. For those who aren’t so technical, Diamond White is a tri-coat automotive paint that is very hard to repair if it happens to be damaged. In addition to the sparkling paint, Cadillac also uniquely incorporated chrome pieces to make the Escalade live up to its expectations. The Escalade is technically a truck. I can say this because it is built on a truck chassis and it has the power of a truck. The only thing that is “un-truck like” on the Escalade, as I previously claimed, is that it does not ride and handle like a truck. If we were to imagine ourselves riding in a truck, we see the image of a rough and bumpy ride. This is not the case with the Escalade. The Escalade rides and handles like any other luxury vehicle. The luxury handling of an Escalade does not compromise its capability of a truck. Every summer, we often tow a 6000 lbs. travel trailer for 400 miles at a time to go camping, with ease. I don’t know how many Escalade owners use their vehicles to tow their trailers, but Cadillac rates the Escalade towing capacity to be around 7500 lbs . The Escalade has the best of both worlds in terms of power and luxury. Most people that aren’t very familiar with the ownership and maintenance of an Escalade may think that it is very special vehicle that should be critically taken car of. I am not trying to say that once you own an Escalade, you should not care for it. I am trying to say that an Escalade is just a truck covered in luxurious leather and fancy badges. Other than that, it takes the same engine oil and gasoline compared to other trucks such as the Chevy Silverado or the Ford F-150. Under all that technology and luxury it is just a simple truck. My dad owns a 2008 Chevy Silverado and it cost the same to maintain. In terms of maintenance, the downside that I experience is the fact that mechanics outside of Cadillac dealership, judge you because of the car. What I mean by this, is that when they see you pull up to their shop for a problem and they give you a quote, I receive a feeling that they have given you an unfair quote for the job just because the car is a Cadillac. I often refer to it as the “Cadillac Price”. Overall, you just need to find the right mechanic. I am sometimes asked, “Is it worth it to own an Escalade?” How I would answer that is yes with some exception. If I happened to have the financial resources to afford a brand new Escalade at $60k, I would not get it for the reason of depreciation. In my case, I found a 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV for less than $25k that looks the same as the 2013 model. To me, that was a more practical decision to make. Overall, I think that Escalades are one of the best cars that I got to drive. As I previously states, you get the power you need and the luxury that you deserve while driving a car. Air conditioned seats!!! Worth every penny like the commercial says. This is my favorite car I've ever owned. If it were a hybrid, or better fuel economy, it would have to be the best car ever made. Some of my favorites are the navigation system, beautiful interior, great visability while driving, easy to control, the self adjusting mirrors when in reverse, backup camera, and backup sensors are great!Sep 10, 2008
