This car saved my life I was in a head-on collision that totaled my 2008 GT. I came out unharmed without a cratch. Now, I found a replacement which is the 2006 GT. LOVE THIS CAR. Very reliable and easy to maintain. Feb 09, 2023

The Mitsubishi Eclipse has a few consistent flaws, the plastic door handles on the interior break, and the AC unit is prone to hairline fractures that lead to leaks that are hard to find or detect when buying a used vehicle, it could be fully charged and working when purchased, and 3 weeks later, out of freon. The gas mileage isnt great. Other than these flaws, it is a FUN car to drive, handles well, and looks good. They are hard to find, either because theyve been in accidents or drivers dont part with them (because they love them). My mechanic discouraged me from getting one because they require a lot of repairs, but the one we had lasted for 175K miles until my son totaled it....thats when I realized they were hard to find used. I really like the looks of this car and how well it handles. The sport package interior is a really nice touch. I don't see many of these cars with that. Having to put 91 octane gas in isn't too great because of the cost but it isn't too bad.Apr 26, 2015

I love how the car drives. It's fast, fun, and good on curves. I've own a 2006 Eclipse GT ever since I was 17 and I have driven it for 5 years now and it still runs great. I've had some aftermarket stuff installed in it and now it drives even better/faster than before. I took this car for a road trip from Minnesota to California and back and the car did not disappoint one bit. It ran great through the mountains, snow, and desert. I love it. The only thing that is bad about this car is that it's not very spacious. So, if you're looking for a family car then this is definitely not for you or if you have a child then don't bother getting a car like this till your child is 18. lolJun 16, 2014

Overall a great little car. It was in the mid-range of non-expensive to expensive. I haven't had too many car problems with it other then a bad timing belt, twice! It is great on gas. Has horrible room in the backseat though, wish I would have rode in the back before I bought it! Great for a single person with no kids, and/or whom doesn't do lots of road trips with friends etc.Oct 23, 2013

This is good car if you want something for regular commuting,and some minor racing.Has good acceleration and if you know how to power shift you will have no problems getting passed others on the road.The sound is awesome and has no problem staying inside the car and won't irritate other drivers.Sep 03, 2012

Since there is a sound system in the truck you have very little storage, but it didn't bother me. Love a six speed because most people can't drive it and I was never put in the position to let someone borrow my car.Jun 17, 2012

Awesome acceleration, and a fair amount of power. The only thing I have ever had to do to this car is replace an O2 sensor... well other than routine maintenance ie, oil change and tire replacement. In my opinion it is a fun car to drive. Apr 12, 2012

the performance of this car was rediculous the acceleration was uncanny for a front wheel drive. the transmission was very smooth and easy to get into gear. the transmission in first was longer than i thought and didnt mind being stomped on.brakes were great a little touchy at times. handling was great other than the horrible blind spot behind the drivers head. Rarely needed to be fix as it was new jus the regular maintance check ups. the look of the car was a nice different to the older model. it showed appeal and innovation.foglights in front with powerful halogen lights the original body was sporty and well built gas was't to expensive as it was a 6 speed manual maintance was easy This car is a blast to drive and i would recommend it to any of my friends and familyAug 19, 2010

2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gt had a very powerfull engine with a butt load of torge when you hit the gas it goes, had great cornering abilitys roomy and a great note when put aftermarket exhoust on... one major problem with this car is it had a very weak clutch from factory, recommend replacing with aftermarket clutch and flywheel and make sure the machanic installs correctlyFeb 26, 2010

i bought this car used. It had 21 thousand miles on it I'm up to 36 thousand now. No problems 2 years of driving it everyone stairs at it.Very fun car to drive. gets lots of looks.Very fast for a four cyl. love the sun and sound package. drive it year round.Nov 13, 2009

I love my Eclipse GS. I had a 4cyl 5spd! It handled great! The only time it was not so great was in the winter. I bought winter tires and still had difficulty making it up my driveway. I had to trade it on a bigger car because I was having a baby! I miss it a lot! It had the Rockford Fosgate sound system which was awesome! I got around 28 mpg.. Never had any issues with the car and it had over 40,000 miles on it when I traded it.Aug 07, 2009

Amazing but heavy, The GS model i believe is useless if your going to get a vehicle don't get the baby get the BEAST. The car is a real blast to drive. There are a few parts available for modding your vehicle and more are coming.Jul 18, 2009

I own a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS with manual transmission. I have owned two Eclipses in the past, a 1991 and a 2001 (Both with 4 cylinder engines). I have seen the Eclipse evolve to become a more sophisticated vehicle, displaying better handling and sporting better quality interiors from one generation to the next. I read many reviews before purchasing this car and I was aware that many reviewers thought that the 4 cylinder engine didn't provide enough performance. I have to disagree, at least with the 5 speed manual version of the car, the 4 cylinder engine performs well. ...of course, this is not a muscle car or a M3, but what it does it does it well. Good passing speed, great engine sound for a 4 cylinder and nice acceleration from stand still. The exterior looks of the 4th generation Eclipse are rather impressive and exotic. The car feels well made and sturdy. The sheet metal is of a higher grade than for example the Mitsubishi Lancer. What will I like to see improved: 1- An auxiliary input for an MP3 player/iPod/GPS audio 2- Lumbar support for the passenger seat 3- The option to switch the digital speed readout from Km to Miles 4- GPS optionJul 17, 2009

Strong engine, no problems with it. Beautiful interior. Rare and looks like an exotic car. Really a 2+2. After 80,000 miles, creaks are starting to be heard. Suspension and brakes will need to be replaced soon. Paint is beautiful bet could have been put better. Seems are wide. No all whell drive, front havy. Very fast car, fast braking, awesome handling, very stylish, love the burnt orange appearance. 2.4L 4 cly engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. I love driving this car, its definately a head turner. I would recommend this car to anyone interested in it.Feb 27, 2009

The Eclipse is a fantastic looking car that drives well and is a great ride. The seats are comfortable and the interior is great looking espacialy at night. I have driven the Automatic and ended up buying the manual it's much faster. Mar 13, 2008

there are no problems with this car whatsoever. one thing i find frustrating though is that the seatbelt, when taken off, hits the plastic piece it rests on when not being used and causes the plastic to get chipped... nothing anyone but me would notice probably but still something that frustrates me... stock brakes are really strong, stops on a dime... i drive it in the snow and it's not as bad as some may think. defroster works very well, car heats up quickly... the exterior trunk release button is a button, like in new corvettes which is coolDec 26, 2007

I bought my Eclipse in June of 2007, and did buy used. I have the GT with a sporttronic transmission. I love this new style of Eclipse for many reasons; First, the new body styling it's both cute and mean and flows together nicely, I was glad to see they smoothed the sides of it from the third gen model, bringing back a little of the second gen. The way the rear seats fold down and how the rear panel is easily removed, the car opens up to fit quite a load in (great for college kids!) I've driven it nearly 6k miles since June and it is very comfortable for those long drives, the bucket seats fit well and it has adjustable lumbar support, the only thing i'd like to see with the interior is a telescoping steering wheel. Second; it's now got a 3.8L V6! The power is great, deffinantly not as much as some other cars, and if I could, I would deffinantly go for the 6 speed manual transmission instead of the 5 speed sporttronic, however that's a preference thing, I have driven the manual and it does feel more powerful. I do like the sporttronic, it's automatic when I need it to be and I can have fun and turn it into a clutchless-manual when I want to feel that power. Third; it handles incredibley well. I drove the pontiac G6, Hyundai Tiburon, Honda Civic Coupe, Scion TC, and Chrysler Crossfire while shopping around and the Eclipse handled very nicely. It responded acurately and cornered very well. You just have to get used to the front wheel drive, it's very easy to over-correct. Aug 24, 2007
