The car is great especially for commuting to & from work. its also compact so you can squeeze into places easily. The drive is awesome, you can speed up quickly, just watch yourself because before you know it you'll be driving 20-25 miles over limit & not notice!May 04, 2014

Okay so there are a lot of trade offs with this car. I went from a v8 Bronco to a v6 Accord, to a v4 Civic. You can feel the difference. My loving friend nicknamed my Civ "the Weed-whacker" for a reason. VVVVRRRROOOOOMMMMM!!! and you go nowhere if the battery is low. Okay so this car is different for one major reason that breaks down into smaller pieces. It's a hybrid!! But you already knew that. The thing is that when I bought it I knew I was going to be making a lot of trips across Denver with it and didn't want to spend my entire paycheck on gas. No one bothered to tell me some little hiccups I would be having with this car. 1. The battery. Some models have had recalls on them. The '06 model is the only one in the five or so years worth of recalls. Also a good thing to mention is that when you stop at a stop light or a stop sign, the engine turns off. No idling! It makes for a scare for some passengers but it's kind of funny to watch them freak out. When you take your foot off the brake, the engine automatically starts back up and you can easily keep pace with every other car you're driving alongside (with a few exceptions talked about below). 2. The charger. NO you do not plug it in! However, when you coast or step on the break it charges the three batteries that are under the back seat. Genius! If the battery power starts dying, the engine charges it so you're using all gas instead of part gas/ part battery. You can and will notice a difference when stepping on the gas. Hence the VRRRROOOOMMM!!!! and you go nowhere part. Try as you may, if you're starting at the bottom or in the middle of a hill and going up you will probably be passed by a 100cc motorcycle for the first two or three small blocks. 3. Fair weather. If you run the AC you will get bad mileage. Simply because the battery will be drained and all your gas will be used A. Driving and B. charging the battery up. If you run the heater you will get bad mileage. The heater doesn't drain the battery as quickly as the AC does but it does make my mileage go down a ways. So about the mileage. You may have also heard that there is a class action lawsuit against Honda for false advertising on the Hybrid. True, and it is in court sometime in fall 2012. Since there are so many factors involved with the type of gas mileage you can get,it isn't right that Honda advertised these cars as on average getting 40 mpg in town and 47 highway. If you drive like a lead foot you will get bad gas mileage. Don't gun it (if you even can). Here is what I get: in town: 38-40 depending on how far I have to drive. Short trips only, bad gas mileage. (Short trip equals 10 miles or less) So don't take it garage saleing! Highway: 47-50mpg. (on flat/ semi flat highways with mid to no traffic). Mountain driving on freeway (Colorado Rockies, not hills) uphill:36mpg downhill: 56mpg. Snow: HELL NO! Again, I live in Colorado where I have snow galore one week and none for the rest of the month. Since actual clearance of this car is no more then 5 inches, I do not recommend this car in snow. I bought this car for a real deal. It was a lease car so it only had 17k miles on it and bought it for only $18k. It handles really well and has a tight turning radius. I like the room it offers in the front seat, back seat is a different story. Fairly little cargo space since the back seats don't fold down from the trunk and some room is taken out of the trunk for the batteries (housed under the back passenger seat). Overall I would recommend this car to someone who is looking for the fuel economy in an area where you don't have to make a lot of short trips. Pizza delivery drivers should stay away! The autostop feature when you stop at stop signs and lights is different and unique. I would urge a prospective buyer to try it out for a month before committing. Jul 23, 2012

This car has the ability to save money because it is a hybrid car. On the high way, it can make above 50 mpg which is very high in relative to the other cars. Well maintained. You will like it.Jul 04, 2012
