Great drivers car. Caterham isn't wrong when they say "designed for
racing, built for living". It is only a 1.6 with 115bhp but it weighs shy off
700kg so you're always the first to leave at traffic lights, without even
trying. Braking follows the acceleration. Handling can only be compared to
a kart. It is a race car so rear wheal driven, which means you do have to be
more careful in more slippery situations.
As long as you take care of the oil you won't have any technical problems.
And when you do it's pretty easy to deal with it yourself. Everything is very
accessible and mechanical (hardly any electronics). It's pretty Spartan, but
if you only need a car do drive very well and put a smile on your face
almost every time you drive it, this is the one for you.
Carrgo capacity is OK for a car this size. You can manage luggage for a
trip for two if you don't pack too much.
Gas mileage depends on how you drive it but it's a lot better then most
people assume. The tank isn't big so you have to fill it up every 210 miles,
it takes about 30 liters.
Although the turning circle is a bit on the big side compared to it's size,
it's pretty easy to park, you have a perfect view where it ends.Jan 29, 2012

It's fast ;-) a one off creation formed with my own hands. Just great fun. this took over 4 years to make from plans. By making it my self I saved the intial outlay of buying a kit. Bit of a geeksa car though!!!Jul 28, 2010

I rented one for a day on the 'Ring, but that day it rained. DO NOT DRIVE A CATERHAM IN THE RAIN! No driver aids, incl. abs, so you are on your own. Plus if you measure 186 cm like me, you heads is stuck between the roll bars, which is not very confortable.
Besides that, the car is truely amazing but also intimidating. it is as basic as it gets, but very impressive indeed.Jun 13, 2008

Perfect end to the perfect track day. A car that made the Lotus seem heavy and lumbering. A road legal vehicle that challenged the single seater race cars I'd been thrashing all day. You couldn't run one as a first car, theres no space, no weather protection, no suspension and no noise dampening, but my god, the acceleration. Have you ever been on the rollercoaster "Rita, queen of speed"? Put my foot down and it just went. Then i got to the first corner and it just turned. No fuss. Could have been doin 10mph for all the trouble it had. Wasn't, for the record. Wouldn't get one though. I ain't that crazy.Jan 09, 2008
