The BMW X5 is a solid and reliable car, it drives with pleasure, it is spacious and silent. The engine is very progressive and there are many accessories, some of which I have never used.Mar 21, 2024

I liked the look, mileage and brand when I first saw the car. The dealer was willing to negotiate on the price, which made it more affordable. It was also clean and available for collection. This car is a lot of fun to drive, and feels very safe.May 21, 2015

This SUV drives like a car. Gives you the safe feeling and will never let you down. It has power and comfort at all times. It is the perfect family car. Both back seats fold flat gives you a lot of cargo space. German Engineering always unquestionable..Feb 13, 2014

I like the luxury and room inside. It does cost a fair bit to run around town but a lot beeter on the open road. I feel very safe in wet weather and the view from up high is good.Mar 05, 2010

Performance - acceleration is brutal, braking very powerful, handling very responsive
Build Quality - never needed repairs
Appearance - interior design is amazing and exterior styling is great
Cost of Ownership - gas mileage spends lots of gas, maintenance is a bit expensive
Fun Factor - very fast, powerful and fun car to driveAug 11, 2009

Incredible handling and acceleration, especially considering this is a 2.5 ton vehicle! A little thirsty and requires premium fuel, but this is an absolute PLEASURE to drive. Long road trip in an X5? No problem! Little Rock to Cleveland was a smooth enjoyable trip. Maintenance can be costly, but it IS a BMW. Gas mileage isn't the greatest... I average about 19mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway. Great comfortable vehicle. I love it.Jul 31, 2009

Nice color. Accelerates and brakes great. No squeaks or rattles. Low-maintenance. Service at dealers is great. Nice design, inside and out. Roomy, good amount of cargo space. Power everything. Decent mileage. Solid, quiet, comfortable, fun to drive. Great on long and short trips.May 03, 2009

23.5 MPG for a 5800 lb fully loaded Sport Utility Vehicle at 80mph is pretty darn good.
A very stable fun driving highway SUV. luxury and sport.
Haven't had any issues yet. Can't get the wife out of it long enough for an oil change.

Few words on it:
Handled well, I6 was smooth and more powerful than its numbers suggest, however the ride was pretty harsh even without the Sport Package. I test drove at South Bay BMW, and the lady basically told me to take a turn without getting on the brake pedal. Body roll was well controlled, steering feel was very nicely weighted, and oversteer/understeer was well controlled. Interior ambiance is nice, though I did not get to really crank up the stereo. I imagine it's nice though.Jul 07, 2008

A great SUV (BMW calls it an SAV) that's more of a performance sedan than truck. Tight suspension and very responsive. Tremendous agility considering the weight and center of gravity. Very quick to 60, and fast as hell for its type. Panoramic moon roof makes for a very cool interior vibe.Apr 18, 2008

Probably the most perfect car out there. Both quick and powerful, but also practical.Feb 05, 2008

What I thought would be a great AWD replacement to the 540i has turned out to be pretty amazing but nothing really compares to an E39 with a V8 under the hood!Dec 21, 2007

while I did not buy this car, I did research it extensively. It is a very nice car. Drove this car and the cayenne and found that the cayenne just seems to handle better - more of a car feel than the x5 which still feels a bit like a truck.Oct 24, 2006
