What owners say
"Overall, owners seem to appreciate the 2004 BMW X3 for its size and handling. Many liked that it's not as bulky as the X5, making it suitable for city driving and comfortable on longer trips. The interior space is often mentioned as more than adequate, particularly for its size. However, some drivers expressed concerns about the power being less than expected and high maintenance costs. The handling received positive remarks but some found the ride a bit rough compared to other models."
the steering is way too light and the electronic throttle freaks me out. the seats can be a bit uncomfortable for long drives, but they do provide good grip and feel for the driver. the sports package is a bit rough with the factory 18" wheels but steers very diectly. the engine is a bit too "top end" for my liking, as you have to go half throttle or more to get it moving
November 5, 2007First time in a BMW and I will continue to buy them. Love how it handles, it is just a really great car to drive. I can go 90 miles an hour before I realize it-it rides that smooth. I feel good driving this car and I have owned my share of cars.
April 23, 2015The BMW brand was in my mind over-rated until we bought this puppy. I also had a 2000 Mercedes ML 320 - which the BMW X3 was built to compete against. The BMW was as powerful and much smoother on the road. My ML was sturdy and dependable, but not as nicely appointed. Both are great highway cars, but my next car will be a BMW!

July 16, 2010Solid build, first BMW we have had. Rides a little rough and not for someone looking for a plush ride. Great handling and good ergonomics. Interior is not particularly high end but well constructed. We liked it enough that we just bought a second one, the 3.0 this time.
June 13, 2009I think it's a good buy for a German car. Doesn't depreciate like a Ford.
April 10, 2008unlike it's big brother the X5, the x3 is smaller, lighter and more appropriate not just for city driving but it can also take on cross country trips.. very spacious interior for maximum comfort... again, being a Beamer, it has a downside... high maintenance...
July 19, 2010Had this car for 4 years, no major problems, drives like a 3 series
May 28, 2008not bulky like its bigger brother the X5 but not small like a 3er.
February 18, 2008it is a very beautiful car is good that it isn't as big as a bmw x5, but however it isn't as big to be a good family car, i think that the perfect size it's of the new bmw x3, bigger than an old x3 and smaller than an x5. The power is ok, because is less than an x5 that is too much powerful. i think that the new bmmw x3 is a very good car, and the older not as good as i want. however all bmw suv line is not good to do off road.
