2002 Suzuki Aerio Reviews, Pricing & Specs

Bought the station wagon model in 2002. I love it. The handling is great;it has enough power if i need get pass somebody in a hurry. The sound system is excellent. The trunk area is roomy enough to food shop for a family of six. Don't like the fact that the backseat windows only go down half way. The only maintenance needed was the basic oil change, tire rotation, new tires and breaks.Gas mileage is great. The overall appearance is stylish.It's really fun to drive.The price was right when i bought it didn't have alot of money at the time. Still glad that i made the purchase. Jul 28, 2009

We got the car in 2002 when we were really poor, the cost of the car took about almost all of our assests leaving nothing but only 2 months of rent. Our third month of rent was earned because of this car. Currently it has a aftermarket supercharger, yokohama sport tires, and a after market air filter. We are in china now and its sittng in our apartment's underground garage.Jan 31, 2009

My Aerio SX was a very good car for about 2 and a half years, except for one minor problem the dealer couldn't fix. The serpentine belt would have to be replaced every 10,000 miles. Since the factory manual says to inspect the belt every 30,000 miles and replace as needed, that was far too soon for the belt to wear out, in my opinion. This would also indicate the need to be aware of the reputation of your dealer. My dealer simply refused to talk to me after the warranty period was over. Aside from that, I put over 50,000 miles on my Aerio without any major mechanical break downs. Their was a minor problem with plastic pieces breaking after the first three years but that was more of an irritation than a reliability problem. This car was priced thousands of dollars below their competitor's closest comparable model so you know there were corners cut. In my opinion, the major cutting was done to the materials, particularly the plastic, used for this car. Add to that the fact I bought the first model year for the Aerio which is usually associated with minor problems of the kind I had. To summarize my feelings about this car, you get what you pay for. If you need a reliable car but can live with little irritations like the vanes in the A/C vents disconnecting and blowing air anywhere but where you want them to, or things coming loose inside the door panels and buzzing to the beat of the your door speakers, then buy an Aerio. If, on the other hand, you do not have the patience and tolerance of a Buddhist Monk, and can afford to finance an extra thousand or two, buy a Toyota Matrix.Mar 18, 2007
