I like most everything about W215 CL500. The performance is descent, handling is superb, It still gets attention even at 14 years old. The ABC suspension is a remarkable suspension. Though it can also become a downfall of the car if anything bad happens to it. Like a shop using the wrong fluid, (should be CHF11 by pensotin) or having a line burst. If those things happen, the pump usually goes also. WIth the bursting, air gets to the pump and literally disintegrates. When this happens particles get into the rest of the system and are almost impossible to get out without replacing everything. You will have nothing but problems from then on if that happens. Mine has 70K on it and I have had no problems with it until recently it's developed a knocking sound from the read end area. Apparently air is getting into the system from a bad valve block that needs replaced. They bled the system so the knocking has went away for now. Also I have a pressure line that is starting to seep fluid. They recently replaced another pressure line under a recall. Unfortunately the line that needs replaced requires the motor to be pulled to access it. The vacuum system developed a leak causing the pump to time out which shuts it off to prevent damage. The dealerships answer to this was to replace the pump. I don't think that was necessary, but since my warranty covered it I figured I might as well let them. It did fix the problem, but I assume the leak was in the connections connecting the pump to the lines. They also said I needed a new transmission mount, which my warranty also covered. And lastly, the passenger side has developed a short with the passenger door module causing the window and mirror to lose power to them intermittently. This is frustrating, because the door will not close right since the window won't drop down like it should. The warranty isn't covering it, so i'm going to attempt a fix myself. I read in a forum that two things can happen. The wire in the rubber boot can break because they are to short or the connections can get corroded causing a bad connection. All of this has happened in the last year or so. Considering the car is now 14 years old, I think it's done pretty good with it's reliability. If something happens to the ABC pump I will probably put a shock conversion kit on it instead of fixing it. I love it, but at this age of the car, I don't want to be sinking thousands into it that could be avoided. The quality of the car overall is very good. The interior is almost all leather. The dash and even most all of the door panels included. It's neatest features are the power assisted closing doors and the ABC suspension. The car has Zero body roll and nose dive when braking while in sport mode. Meaning you can fly around a corner then come to an abrupt stop and the car stays perfectly flat the entire time. Other neat features are power folding mirrors, UV and heat blocking windows, and the ventilated seats. My seats didn't get the pulse feature unfortunately. This body style will be an excellent classic. Mine has the Lorinser side skirts and rear bumper to add to it's looks. I also upgraded the wheels. It gets compliments all the time. At this age little things are bound to break, so if your the type that isn't very hands on you'll be running it to the shop some. If you are mechanically inclined and don't mind doing some of your own maintenance, that cuts the maintenance cost and shop bills down considerably. Dec 16, 2014

I absolutely love my CL500. I love it's ride, it's features and definitely it's looks. I get compliments on it all the time. Performance is good for it's size. The power assisted closing doors and trunk and adjustable hydraulic suspension set it apart from other luxury sports coupes. The ventilated seats are a great feature also. Most look very understated I think. Mine has a Lorinzer kit which adds to it's sporty look. May 04, 2013

Mercedes CLK 200 Kompressor Tiptronic Sport. This is a 2 Litre supercharged version of the CLK. I customed this vehicle quite a bit, including a custom built Stainless Steel Powerflow exhaust system, Pipercross induction system, Tri-spark performance plugs, Flat Bonet badge conversion, custom black front grill (dechromed) privacy glass, 18" Brabus Replica Alloys running on Avon ZZ3 Tyres. Also has a factory fitted custom red and black leather interior throughout. The car is lovely to drive, although for a heavy car like this I think the 320 6 cylinder engine is the sensible choice if you can afford the fuel!!!Dec 03, 2009
