The reason Ford quit making the Excursion and the 7.3L Diesel engine in it is because they simply last forever. 300,000+ miles and mine is clicking right along, doing everything exceptionally, still looking great, and maintenance has been very low.

November 6, 2020I can not complain with mine having seating for 8 and being able to hold as much as a regular SUV cargo area, the fuel economy is outstanding, I am getting 30 MPG Highway, yes, it is a diesel, but I can not complain, I only fill it up once a month, it handles quite well, it looks good on both the inside and the outside, it is a great vehicle for going on ski trips, vacations, RVing, or whatever you need to do, it is remarkably agile and other than a few run of the mill issues, everything on the vehicle is working like a dream.

May 15, 2013I have the 7.3. Lots of torque but could use more HP. I have a 4 inch lift and it gets a little sluggish with acceleration. Good towing capacity though. The handling is also something to be desired, as expected with a 9000lbs truck.
March 27, 2010The only thing I don't like about this truck is it is very hard reaching the back spark plugs.. the engine is HUGE and goes on forever Ü. Can haul anything, anywhere... As a basketball coach and a boater - I've had no problems carrying things .
July 28, 2012It is the best Rig I have ever owned very reliable and comfortable. It also has good fuel economy because of the diesel engine. It hauls the whole family and pulls my trailo, and because of the cargo space I don't give up any seating when I want to load it.
July 24, 2008Best family vehicle we have ever owned! Tons of storage. Comfortably seats 8 adults with good leg room (even in the 3rd row). Separate rear heating and air conditioning. Powerful V-10 engine for quick acceleration. Fun to drive. MPG is only 11-12, but gas was only 99 cents/gallon when we bought it! We owned one for 13 years. We wish they still made them so we could buy another one!
March 7, 2015the 5.4 liter...has blown three plugs....found out its very common...But ford wont recall this engine cause it is in millions of cars....there are even websites griping about this issue... i love this truck but DO NOT BUY THE 5.4.....this truck is STILL worth every penny.
December 1, 2013The ultimate SUV with the ultimate engine and transmission. With this combo, it gets over 20 mpg and can still tow like a truck. The 12V cummins is the most simple and reliable engine available for light trucks. Some upgrades are needed to make this SUV completely bulletproof.
March 28, 2013Good quality, cheap cost of ownership any one can do repairs if needed. Low theft risk. Good safety ratings. Like the truck like look, when you see one on the road they are often mistaken for a F250 or F350 from the front.
