Least of it's ability is getting off the line. A heavy car really but once running on some bends eats up the road with ease!
Kept in really good nik, i slight noise from the hydraulic lifters annoying every now n' then
Custom dual exhaust 3", headers and a sunroof other then that Original condition all round, except cd/tuner is about itMay 29, 2010

Good acceleration and ok handling thanks to lowered springs and shortened shocks. Rare five speed manual and a six cylinder VCT engine. Lsd with 3:4:5 diff ration. Great car to drive round mountain runs. Absolutely love this car.Jan 28, 2010

Performance - The XR6 has fantastic acceleration. Very quick. It's brakes are decent. It stops well enough. Not the fastest stop but not too bad. It also handles quite nicely around corners. The sports suspension keeps the car from rolling too much yet is comfortable on bumps.
Build Quality - I bought this car second hand recently. Most things are good. The back door has locking issues though.
Appearance - The XR models are the only decent looking Falcons in the AU series. I general think the AU Falcons are incredibly ugly but I don't mind the XR's so much as they have twin rounded headlights, some mild spoilers on the front and back and larger wheels.
Cost - Being a 4.0 litre 6 cylinder it's not exactly light on fuel consumption. The tank holds 68 litres and the car will do about 600 km's on a tank, some city some highway driving. Not too bad but going from a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder car it costs a bit more.
Fun Factor - It's definitely fun to drive. The sports seats are comfortable and hold you in nicely around corners and when accelerating. And it definitely accelerates. Fun to drive for sure.Jan 18, 2010

Performance - good acceleration, poor braking and good handling for a big car.
Build quality - it's a ford, it is full of squeaks and rattles in the interior, but never breaks down.
Appearance - Series 1 AU is fugly, but being an XR6 it looses the whale front end look.
Cost of ownership - cheap on parts and maintenance, but expensive on fuel.
Fun Factor - Very high, wouldn't trade it for anything.Nov 03, 2009

Performance is crap just does go fast enough, brakes fade if drive too hard, dents on drivers side and roof caused from a physco. Otherwise looks stock standard no mods yet. Need a blower, up graded brakes and suspension and paint job from gorgeous girl friend.Sep 26, 2009

For a lowly A$60 a day, we had this huge 4L Falcon Forte for the 2000+ kilometre journey. It accelerated smartly and was very steady at all speeds, right up to the electronic speed limiter. Around great ocean road, it was very lively and distinctly heavy in the corners, however, the responsive throttle allowed for very controllable tail-out antics.
We loved the quiet cruising (1300rpm @ 110kmh), and rather economical fuel consumption (10+km/L).Jan 03, 2008
