1998 Volvo V70 Reviews, Pricing & Specs

I bought it for $2,000 off the original owner. So far no issues and have put a 1,000 miles on it with no major issues. Power wise it has sport mode and it will surprise you with how big the car is that it can actually get up and go like it does and with the low pressure turbo and the straight 5 it actually does really well!. It is the ultimate sleeper because kids in Honda's will roll up and act tough and you can blow them off the line and burn em! I have got 24 mpg around town and about 28 mpg on the freeway.

This is a good looking car that drives smoothly and safely around town and on all kinds of roads. It is comfortable to ride, is easy for the kids to climb in and out, and has plenty of power to climb up mountains passes. On more than one occasion the AWD performed perfectly where V8 pickup trucks got stuck. The backseats split in the middle and fold flat to accomodate what you need to carry. It had no problem moving a bunkbed and 2 mattresses after a visit to Ikea, and the kids were in the car too.

Best thing about my R is that it looks different than any other Volvo on the road. It is powerful with great handling, easily modifiable, its a great daily driver while still being totally unique. Plus, it looks evil and treacherous. Muahaha!

This is the car I would want most, and I am lucky to drive it. The turbo is great, it's fun to drive, and the AWD means I can go anywhere I want. I love my car so much! This is the first year for the v70xc, so repairs are many and expensive, but I think it's worth it to drive such a beautiful machine!

Have had the car since it was new - 13 years now. Very little trouble - although the radio consol lights have failed recently and it apprears that you will have to repalce the radio if you want the lights back. Good gas milage - 26-27 on the highway Has been parked on the steet and the finish is still good.

Performance not great but the 5 cylinder engine sounds fantastic. Loads of room, easily swallows family of 5 with room to spare. Very reasonable running costs for a big car averaging 28mpg. Most comfy car i've ever owned but still handles well enough to give a fun drive.

A very smooth and quiet car, you can fit a whole mass of things in it, or transport 4 or 5 adults in fairly luxurious style! Very nice 5 cylinder engines, but long gear ratios mean relaxed cruising at the expense of acceleration. Brakes are awesome, it's not so keen on the corners especially at low speed, quite stable at high speed cornering though.

The naturally aspirated 5-cylinder engine is the lowest trim line available on the V70s. Standard features include power windows/ door locks, ABS, FWD, keyless entry, and the softest fabric seats ever. The CD player was an add-on option. For a baseline trim vehicle, the V70 has been more pratical and useful than most cars out in the market. With cargo-capacity equal to that of average SUVs and the fuel economy of the average sedan, the V70 makes a wonderful daily driver/grocery getter. The V70 is offered in a variety of trim to suit various life-styles. GLT, T-5, and the R. The GLT is offered with a low-pressure turbo, the T-5 with a high-pressure turbo, and the R; high-pressure turbo along with AWD. There is also the XC70 (a crossover sport utility wagon), which uses the low-pressure varient of the 5-cylinder engines.

I love the way the car drives. The space is great for family and pet. Gas is wonderful throughout the week for this car. However, the person that had this car before, did not take care of it and left little problem that may cause huge ones. I believe it can be saved and have many more miles to go. Brakes, and performance of the car made me feel very safe.

Turbo lag, quite bumpy suspension, too low for the headroom, enormous boot, you cannot expect much on the appeareance of Volvo, but passenger safety are always the spot on all Volvos, quite high fuel consumption, but still it's a good car
