The appearance with the rear spoiler in black is very good looking. The spoiler needs to be re-mounted from people using as a trunk lift handle, can't go through the car wash for this reason. Have to use black colored wax and polish to cover the nicks and scratches, but it's 16 yrs old, not unreasonable .Aug 17, 2014

I love the ride of this car. Very stable. Very good on gas. Clean and efficient. A Good family car.The car did not brake down and leave us stranded. It was a very good car and easy to fix. The parts were not expensive.Jul 25, 2014

Love the handling, body is still tight with only a couple of tiny, occasional rattles, doesn't have any squeaks. Easy car to work on for the most part, and any maintenance you'd do is easy to look up on the internet; lots and lots of YouTube videos showing you exactly how to fix just about anything. At 157K miles, shooting for 200K and am totally confident it'll get there. In the last year, have had to do several repairs (axle, mass air flow sensor, EGR valve, master cylinder, muffler), but that's the first significant work in the 12 years we've owned it. Just took it for 1,000 mile road trip and, as expected, ran beautifully and got 28-30 MPG on the interstate. Super old car.Jun 24, 2014

Well over all the Maxima is a VERY good car, but I came across two problems, one was easy to fix...the First was the trunk button stopped working so we had to use the key all the time...this was fixed by flipping a switch inside the trunk. Apparently after a while of slamming the trunk shut, the switch slowly shimmy's down to the "Key only" position.
The second problem is a common error with the Maxima (I don't know if it's just the year I have or not) but the Speedometer stopped working...if stays at 0 until I hit 35, THEN it pops back up to say hello :D.
Its a good driving around town car though for sure : ) Jul 10, 2011

I think that this car is awesome. There is nothing that I dislike about this car. The performance is awesome. The cost of ownership is minimal. I would love to drive this car. It's very fun to drive. It's a very powerful and fast car.Dec 20, 2010

Great car. Got power, handling and comfort. Great for cruising or racing. Sips on gas when cruising, has balls when you hit the gas. Cheep to insure and all around great!
Nissan did right with the Maxima. Powerful sports car engine, with refined comfort of a sedanNov 05, 2010

Good but can always be betta. Recently converted to a 5 speed. Coil overs, Cold Air Intake, headers, slotted rotors, and exhaust make it more fun to drive. Need to work on appearance now. Possibly HIDs, and fogs would dress it up very nice. Very pleased with the performance after the modsAug 19, 2010

Manuel 5 vitesses, shock KYB, spring Eibach, reste stock.
Jul 27, 2010

Overall, the Maxima is a great car. It's reliable (in as much as an eleven year old can be), a lot of fun to drive, and is very comfortable. It's getting old, but it still has plenty of life left in it.Nov 25, 2009

Very fun to drive, pretty good gas mileage, LOVE the interior (leather), solid build, FANTASTIC acceleration and handling. Has a V6 3000 twin cam engine, 24 valve. Lots of trunk and back seat space. Oh, and her name is Jenny :PSep 04, 2009

This thing's a tank and it moves when you want it to. Decent gas mileage, quiet, doesn't look ancient 12 years after being built. It is a fun car to drive. Not quite as well thought-out as a Honda but it holds up about as well. The brakes are a constant problem but they can be ignored to an extent while still working alright since the front brakes work alright. The car doesn't rust as easily as most Hondas do. Parts are expensive but last a long time for the most part.Apr 14, 2009

This car has everything you need. Room for 5 adults. Fast. 0- 60 7.1, 100mph in 3rd gear. Good MPG's to. I about 25mpg. That is very good for a V-6 that 10 years old. I had this car 5 year and hoping to get another 5 years. They stop making this body 1999, and I see these cars everywhere so I think I'am in good hands.Jan 26, 2009

Handling is awesome, breaking could probably be better. Takes turns wonderfully, it's such a smooth ride. It's so fast and easy to take care of. It's old but it still drives like it's new. It's probably the best car I could hope for, for the price I paid. My review wasn't long enough so I'm typing more words blah blah blah blah.Sep 19, 2008

Maxima's are the best in it's class! The car is solid and I never had many problems with it besides unfortunate things that other people have done to it. The car is very roomy and it is still under 3000 pounds. Mine has 220k miles and it is still goingAug 20, 2008

Good performance, comfortable, handles well!
Well built, only needed wiper blades for M.O.T.
Washer pump had to be replaced, very cheap!
Uses a lot of fuel, if driven hard.I try not to!
Haven't had it serviced yet, must get it done soon!
I Love it, it looks expensive........
My friend calls it a "council estate Lexus"

great car never let me down, never had any major repairs or electrical problem, always had plenty of power to spare. Interior held up two my two boys and was very easy on tires unlike some domestic cars. The only major complaint was the paint quality despite waxing and washing often the clear coat pealed at around 100000 Aug 10, 2008

This by far was the greatest Maxima ever. It was super fast, handled incredibly, basically it acted like the sports car it wasn't. This was a car that you could transport the family in and drive to work and take it racing on the weekend it was comfortable and formidable in both arenas.Jul 17, 2008

Although this was never one of my fav cars.. I love it! I liked how it looked from the start but you can't beat how well it handles and all the space. It drives so smooth and isn't too bad on gas. It has been through a lot and hasn't had any major problems. Jun 28, 2008

It is SMOOTH and QUIET, even after 180k miles. It has been VERY reliable for things that are not considered regular wear service items (brakes, cv joints, etc)
It's no rocket but it has decent torque for accelerating in passing/merging situations. No torque steer and very neutral handling. Gets about 22mpg currently...I think.
For a 4 door sedan, it's a lot more enjoyable than any Camry or Accord out there.Jun 25, 2008

My mom's car. Sporty and luxurious at the same time. Just seems to do everything right. Fun to feel the boost of power when you kick the spurs in. Knowing how much extra power you have access to makes you more confident when merging onto a highway or changing lanes. But I wish the rear seat would fold down like many smaller cars let you. I've been able to fit things in a little Ford Escort that wouldn't fit in this car. All this one has is a little pass-through hole for golf clubs, skis, etc. And the powerful V-6 engine uses a lot of gas.Mar 31, 2008
