What owners say
"Overall, drivers really enjoy the 1998 Chevrolet S-10 for its reliability, good gas mileage, and comfortable interior. Many have praised its power, especially with the V6 engine, while some felt that the four-cylinder engine lacked acceleration. Drivers also appreciate its durability over time, but a few noted that it could be slow and have minor maintenance issues. Despite these drawbacks, it's considered a fun and economical choice for everyday use."
my truck accelerates really well for a 4 cyl as for the braking and handlling i have had my truck for about 5 yrs and not had any trouble out of either. you will be amazed at how strong this truck is built. i love the look of it. it is by far my favorite of all generations. maintenance has not been a problem at all just the routine stuff, i am am disappointed with the gas mileage it seems to get fewer than any 4 cly. i've ever owned. other than that there is no problems with this car. its is a blast to drive you get alot of looks and there is alot you can do with them so i will give them a big thumbs up!
September 12, 2008Its a pick-up that I reliably get 20-32 mpg with, is very durable, and drives amazing. A few hundred dollars greatly increases power and helps gas mileage. Rear wheel drive with 5 speed almost feels sporty. The interior is laid out great and its very comfortable for two people, but does seat 5. Its a little slow from the factory, and after-market parts sometimes require slight modifications, even though they say direct fit.
June 21, 2008This was a great truck. I got it in 2000 with 34000 miles on it. The only two things I had problems with is the seat reclining handles broke alot cause of being made with white metal. Had to replace the Valve body in the transmission at 40,000 miles other then that a great little truck.

February 4, 2010Great little truck, Bought mine used in 2004, with 60K miles and in 5 years time have driven it with only 1 major problem, to over 200k miles. I did have to replace the fuel pump 3 times in 4 months, but the engine(4.3 Vortech V6) and the tranny (auto) have stood the test of time. I have owned other chevy's and they all seem to have electrical problems which is what caused the fuel pump issues. overall its a dang good vehicle.
December 30, 2009I love this truck. It’s clean, efficient, has plenty of power(v-6 ), and not bad gas mileage
November 3, 2020its a 98 5 speed manual 2wd 2 door so i cant complain for wat it was it ran great got great gas millage and i beat the hell out of it and it just kept goin and wouldnt quit
October 15, 2010Sturdy truck; great styling for its era; factory paint doesn't last; 2.2L 4Cyl. is sloooww; reliable; cheap and easy to repair; at least 25MPG; lowrider/daily driver = steady maintenance. One of the most driven vehicles on the road and one of General Motors greatest creations styling and build.
May 20, 2010Great little truck. Has good pick up for a four cylinder. Biggest problem would be that the mileage kinda sucks and the truck will always have little problems popping up here and there. Needs tie rods with oil changes. Has almost no blind spots and fits where most big trucks wont. Dont think you are gonna rip out trees and haul your buddies engine, this is only a cavalier with a pickup shell
August 21, 2009i love my 1998 chevy s10 because its not to big. great gas mialage and fast. also it shifts smooth between gears. also the engine give out agreat amount of power for a stock truck. also its a great looking truck. not to flashy.
January 7, 2009A fun, economical, good looking truck! Low on power with the 4cyl 2.2 is the only real sore spot.
