We love this car and have had it since 2000. It has 286,000 miles and has been very dependable with no big problems. The V-6 has power and the handling is great. Best car we have ever had. Performance: It is this car fun to drive!Nov 06, 2014

I liked this car and it went 280,000+ miles before I encountered a transmission problem. I have not driven it since April 2014 and repairs would take about $2,000+. I am still saving for the repair costs as I'd like to keep it as a second car.Oct 14, 2014

Overall an excellent, dependable and comfortable vehicle with a very smooth quiet interior. Fun and safe to drive. Feel in control when driving it. The 4 cylinder doesn't quite have the peppy acceleration of the older models but it's no slouch. Low maintenance. Highly recommended used car.Jul 08, 2014

Bought this car for my son, his first car. Its a 97 but had low milage and little rust. Handles well, rides smooth, a fun car to drive. Toyota quaility, built to last. Fun to drive, would recommend to friendsJan 04, 2014

4 cylinder engine in US made models is underpowered

Good car, with enough power for daily use. Easy and cheap to maintain and insure. Steering is direct, you always know where the wheels are pointed. The car is relatively fun to drive. Handling can be improved by putting aftermarket suspension. Power can be increased by adding a TRD supercharger.May 13, 2012

I miss my Toyota Camry. My Camry rocked, it also saved my bacon in a bad crash. So, reliable, powerful enough, nice acceleration, decent handling, not the belle of the ball, but bottom line, the best, safest car I've owned. Apr 13, 2012

This car was horrible all around but being my first car i liked it.
Took it off roading.
there are few thing i didnt do with it.

It is a good family car, it ran good, the person we sold it to just took it to the junk yard last year. It wasnt very good looking, but it was built good, It had the best gas milage cant beat it. It is really not fun to drive.Jan 15, 2010

very good performance, have never really had any problems with braking or handling. The acceleration is excellent especially for a 4-cylinder engine. The cost of ownership is preety cheap, has only needed tune-ups, tires, etc. I can go for up to 2 weeks between gas fill-ups, so it's preety good on gas. I would say any car that gets you from point A to point B without a lot of problems all the time is a fun car to drive. I don't care much for appearance, so it looks very good for a 12 year old car. Nice paint and interior. It has had to have the fuel injectors replaced, but for a car with over 230,000 miles on it, that's preety good.Jan 07, 2010

Acceleration was pretty good, since it had a 3.0L V6. It was very reliable. For the few years we've owned it, I don't recall any repairs. It looks.. typical Toyota. It was cheap to own other than gas mileage. It wasn't fun to drive, but neither are most Toyota's.Oct 11, 2009

Its a car that has enough torque to keep you moving and light enough to play a little meanwhile you can drive it anywhere on as little gas as possible. It accepts a 3.0 L IMZ-FE V6 that can handle a TRD supercharger for some real inspired driving.Oct 04, 2009

the big block is a reliable car thee performance is minimal being a 4 cylinder car but is very fuel effecient. The appearnace is modern like with no flash parts except for my stereo lol. this car is a family car and dont find it very fun!Aug 08, 2009

This car currently has 364000km on it.Has never had a tune up and starts every time no matter what the weather.Handles well and rode well but getting old and a little rough now.No major repairs after it's 12 year history. Nice style but not too exciting.Gas mileage has always been better than most cars even now.Jul 09, 2009

245,00 miles. original engine and tranny. you can't beat that with a stick. 22 mpg in town and 26 mpg highway with the 4 cylinder. has great get up and go for a 4 cylinder and handles like it is on rails. back seat is a little tight but great front and trunk space. tank in snowDec 21, 2008

it's definitely older, but is a good car. it only needs routine maintenance, and has 130,000 miles on it so far. so far it has needed only a couple of big things like brakes and struts, but that has been recently and is expected at some point for all older cars. it accelerates beautifully, and handles really well. This is a very reliable and good running Car. It's got 210,000 miles and still running strong. It has decent speed for a 4 cylinder and gets great gas mileage. Very fun to drive and has good handling. I would recommend camrys to a friend because they are well made cars. It does have some rusting on the wheel wells, and trunk but overall it still looks o.k. Great car! Gets good gas mileage for its size, about 25mpg. Very comfortable, far better ride and seat comfort than comparable cars I have driven. Nearly as good a ride as my mom's Buick. It has been extremely reliable. It was purchased with 140k miles, and now has 164k, with no problems period. Just change the oil and go. The engine is still so smooth and quiet it can hardly be noticed when running. What it's not is a performance car. While it has plenty of power to easily merge on the highway or pass on a two lane road, it is by no means a thrilling ride. Don't expect to get an ear to ear grin when you start the engine, or hit the curves on hilly road. But do expect to be impressed when used as designed: as a family commuter to get from point A to point B in comfort. Overall I would wholeheartedly recommend this car for someone needing a simple reliable commuter. Aug 04, 2008

I bought my Camry used in 2002 in Seattle, Washington. I used it primarily to get myself around the city, although I did some long trips in it, too, including a one-week drive across the country with my father as co-pilot. I really like a lot of things about the car: The inside is very quiet and comfortable, the trunk is gigantic, the controls are well laid out and effective, and other than having to replace the battery once, I haven't had any mechanical difficulties with it at all. But it's not at all a fun car to drive, and while it gets decent mileage for a 6-cylinder, it's a lot thirstier than I like with gas at $4 a gallon, particularly since Toyota recommends 91 octane or higher. My Camry was rock-solid reliable, but I want a car that will give me more feedback and involve me more in the process of driving, and I also want a car that will get better mileage on the cheapest gas I can put in it.Jun 17, 2008

despite looking like a family car, my white camry vienta has the potential to look hot, the flared wheel arches look pretty cool, the interior is a bit dodgy, in the process of taking off the very 90's styled carpet on the door and just leaving the trim bare. like the exterior i feel that its got a lot of potential to look hot given the time and money.
the performance isnt bad, however id prefer a quicker reaction time on the accelerator, the car is surprisingly quiet, even at 150+ which takes effort to get up to. the handling for everyday driving is not poor, but adequate, but when taken on winding roads at speed it can start to get a bit iffy.Mar 14, 2008
