1996 Toyota Corolla Reviews, Pricing & Specs

The performance of this car has met my standards. For a 4 cylinder it accelerates fairly fast, braking is great, and it takes corners like it's no problem. The only thing repair-wise I've done to it, is the brake lines, and a battery. But those are just things that go with time. I've been working on my car, improving the look slowly, but even without it, so a little reliable car, it's really nice looking, and the interior is awesome. I just don't like that the AC adapter is right under the drink holder, so when I have a drink in there, it blocks the socket. Cost of owning this car is cheap. I bought it for 2800, and it's cheap insurance, and I get over 500 km per tank, with next to no maintenance. I think this car is a lot of fun to drive. I'll have a hard time ever getting rid of it.Nov 15, 2010

The 1996 Corolla accelerates quickly, brakes well, and handles the curves nicely. The engine runs very well and has not needed very much in the way of repairs. It is noisier on freeway driving than the Toyota Camry, as it is not as insulated. The appearance is of a practical car but a little bit sporty as well. Cost of ownership has been very good. Always accelerates; always brakes; always turns. No unexpected repairs in 136k miles except for a front bearing replacement after an aggressive off-road sprint. Still looks like a 1990s model car. Was paid off in 1999; virtually free to drive. Insurance is cheap. Nobody will steal it. Turns on a dime and is small enough to avoid door-dings in parking lots. Fun and worry free!Nov 20, 2009

Uh, it's slow, like REALLY slow. I get on the freeway and everyone just zooms right by me. I get mad about it but hey, what can I do about it. It's reliable, takes me from point a to point b. The A/C on this thing KICKS ASSS!!!! I got friends and buddies of mine who have newer cars and they think cuz I drive an older car that the amenities on it are not up to par- but to prove them wrong I told them to take a seat in my 4 door rolla with the A/C on. Man, did they changed their minds so quickly. Now, instead of me hopping for a ride in their nicer, newer, faster cars, they hop in my little ding a ling daily driver and enjoy the A/C with me. In terms of US of A experience, Corolla is true to its stereo type of boring but reliable and fuel efficient car due to which Indian community owns these cars with obsession! It was a used car so not much to say! But it always started with twist of the key even after staying under 1 ft snow for a couple of days. Wobbly at high speed (80 MPH or higher) but that was I guess more due to edge rather than the product having a problem.Aug 22, 2009

My car is about 139hp on dyno( the last time) now think could be only 12x. ...coz the ori engine has beeen pulled out to re-make it's hp. hopefully after this it can go up to 14x-150hp. Exterior i dont really mind...as in Malaysia, if your car is too nice to look, you wont' dare to bring it out. We got a lot of rascals on the road. Awesome to drive. Raw power combined with precise handling and exceptional braking. This car really sticks in the corners and will apeal to the entusiast. Sleek, sporty yet elegant design makes this car as much a pleasure to look at as it is to drive. The fuel economy of this vehicle is unsurpassed, not only in it's own class but also compared to smaller economy vehicles. This car is known for it's dependability and solid build, and my car definitely exceeds those expectations. Fun to drive, great handling (I can use one finger to turn the car 180 degrees around easily), speedy, comfortable, and good on gas (25 city, 32 hwy). For it being almost twelve years old, the body and interior are like new. The AC still blows cold, and it only has 113,000 miles on it. i love my car its got fantastic handling and the speeds alright. The performance is good for the price i paid for and it can take a hard and rought races and always lived the day without any problems. Interior is supurb and standard. Everything still looks like new and looked after. I would recommend and have recommending this model to people who are looking for a fun and reliable ride. Its fun to drive but not when you got alot of fat arses in the in the car crushing the suspension. Well, sometimes you gotta work with wat you got, so this is it, my mom bought me the one of the slowest cars in the world. but im still putting money in it surprisingly. Performance mods include Spark Plugs/wire set, Short Ram Intake, and Air Breather. My next mods include exhaust system from the cat and back, and headers, then ill see wat else i mite want to do.Feb 26, 2008
