engine blew at 140miles, prolly because of the oil guy being a loser and failing to do his job....
everything else is really goood on it.... parts are cheap and there is alot of fiberglass on the fabrication of the car. makes it much more stable. it doesnt get scratched easy at all in my opion...
im about to get a new engine w 10,000 miles on it so itll be new all over again ... yipeee ... so worth it yo

The acceleration is great, as well as the
breaking and handling of the car. My car has
needed repairs, but nothing major; at the most
for a single repair was around $300. The
appearance, especially when cleaned is almost
like new, with a scraped patch of paint on the
rear bumper that was there prior to my
ownership. The maintenance for this car is
average for a car as old as it is, maybe less
due to its low mileage of only a bit over
88,000 miles. My car is great to drive around,
simply because its a v6 and drives(handles,

i loved this car lots of power , the only problem was the mass airflow sencer fowled . the preformance was great,it had good fuel economy. the car was unbelivable fun to drive, but the maintenance was a big bummer the interior was comfortableJun 11, 2010

This car has lots of fun things about it. it has enough balls. when you
floor it you feel the torque. i had some scary times with this car though.
brake line broke on me and almost crashed. Interior is not anything

This was the first car I ever bought from a dealership. I got it used with around 30,000 miles on it. I traded the POS in almost 2 years later with about 80,000 on it. During the time I had it, it went through two alternators, leaked coolant into the engine from the intake, several tires, and more. Probably one of the worst cars I ever owned, and mine had the better engine, the 3.1 V6. It had been dropped off a lift before being sold to me and had some sort of electrical problem, which the Ford dealer in Franklin, VA, didn't tell me about. These cars are worthless cheap crap. This is a primo example of why GM went bankrupt.Feb 02, 2010

I love this car. It's had a lot of performance work done to it, and it's more than enough for my day to day driving. I'm getting around 37 to the gallon highway with it, and my worst has been 24 driving very aggressively. It looks great, is a solid platform, and has balls.Jan 26, 2010

Its my frist car I really like it alot. It started off stock at 150HP its probably at about 165-170HP. Its cheap to maintain but it has a 13 gallon tank takes alot of gas. I love driving it. It has pretty fast acceleration.Nov 08, 2009

Not a bad car. Manual tranny made it really fun... Had an awesome stereo, moon roof, and all power options. fwd made it awesome in the snow. However, the engine build is crap. performance isnt bad if you know how to drive a stickSep 26, 2009

Performance is very good. Build Quality the 3.1 that comes stock in it is a very bad engine unless its a rebuilt one. Appearance is very nice. Cost is ok. Fun Factor well i had alot of fun in it lol.Sep 01, 2009

Pretty good little car, but I crashed it so now I have a new one. This car is cheap to run, If you are not me. Not the strongest drive train however. Very comfortable car for the money. Only good Grand Am made (96-98 Black 2 DR).Jun 01, 2009

I Love it, especially since it is mine and it is paid for. It runs good but does need some work to help it continue at it's peak. Gets me where I need to go and I have keept it looking good to be over 10 years old. My friend commented the other day about how well I had kept the car up.Nov 26, 2008

This car is great. 250,000 miles and no major problems. Gas mileage is around 34 mpg in town and 38 on the highway. Relatively lost operating costs, minus the fact that gas is flipping 4 dollars a gallon. This car has a manual transmission and which makes it more fuel efficient and much more fun to drive.Sep 03, 2008

Its a tough car. i have a 96 4dr gt and ive done a few modifications to the engine so its got even more kick than it did before. its got great acceleration and it good for cornering it hasnt need any major repairs and anything that had to be fixed wasnt costly at all. its got a few scraches but along the way every car does lol its fun to drive isnt my first car but still a fun ride Aug 06, 2008

I love the room and the storage compartments... not to mention the 4 doors is great when loading the baby in...The power is better than some vehicles I've driven and I love the green color of it... The gas mileage is great but needs a bit of work on it. Jul 15, 2008

The car is a fairly nice car. It runs great and drives very nice but the engine is awful. It only had 63k miles on it and the engine blew. The gas mileage is not that bad it gets about 25 miles to the gallon. Maintenance is kind of expensive. This car is really fun to drive around town and stuff.Jul 05, 2008

I bought this car for $1600 in 2004. It has been relatively trouble free the whole time. In 2006, my wife stalled it in high water, water actually in the cylinder banks. Spent $100 on the starter, cleaned out the engine, and runs great. Soon after, someone didn't yield at a stop sign, and smacked the rear passenger side. Got $1400 from their insurance, spent $20 for parts, and fixed it myself. Put new tires with full alignment and fuel pump on it since then, have a net cost of about $800 in it, still worth probably $1200-1500. 144,000miles and running strong. Great factory CD player and icy AC. Does the job, gets me back and forth to work every day!Jul 03, 2008

The interior is kinda of plain, the exterior has that sporty fast look to it, it handles like no other car i have driven it grips sharp turns like it was nothing, handles decent in bad weather, overall performance is pretty good, what it doesn't have in Horsepower it makes up with outstanding acceleration. Well, it was Grandpap's, then he sold it to Tami, and then we bought it from her. It's a perfect little car...but it needs work now and it's sitting in the driveway because we're not rich folks. When it's up and running, it's comfortable, perfect size, great for travel, pretty as older cars go, and there's room for the doggies even though they coat it with fur. We're furry folks..oh well. great travel car, good power with the v6, a little small in side, easy to maintain and fix. dont get a 2 door, been having problems with both windows since i got it (mechanicly) and since the doors are so big the hinges need extra attention. Mar 14, 2008

I got this little 96 as a senior in high school. It's not the coolest car to own, unless you're a grandma, but it actually packs a lot of power, if you have the v6. the speedometer went out on it, but that's probably because the power steering fluid puked out all over it's lines... fun, but not an expensive repair. The acceleration was great, so was the speed. I surprised many drivers with how quickly I could accelerate around them or from a stop! Gas mileage is great, I was getting around 28 mpg highway and 20 mpg city. The interior was okay, I had to have the seat all the way back, so no one could sit behind me because there was no legroom. It was a good car to get from point a to point b. Not really much of a cruising car, it was nothing great to look at. Yet it was a good car.Jan 29, 2008
