Good Power out of the 3.1 those tires had no problem loosing grip....
Got mine up to 110 on I-95. My drivers side Electric window didnt work so paying tolls was a pain in the as so i put a screw driver in the door panel to hold the window up and pulled it out to let it fall back down again..lolMay 19, 2013

if there was a car out there that you owned and loved until it broke this would be the one. It was reliable until it broke for the first time then it just went down hill from there. I wish it was easier to fix but it really does suck being the fact that it has a dual over head cam, and everything is driven by the timing.Dec 29, 2012

After the Buick died due to a supermassive transmission failure, I
was forced to condescend to the level of the average high school
student and drive a bottom-end economy car. Although it
supposedly provides somewhat spirited performance with the
optional 3.1 L V6, the 2.4 L Quad 4 engine is abysmal. Although
this is supposed to be an economy car, I have averaged about 20
mpg through the 6 months I have driven this car. This would be
acceptable if it provided at least decent performance, but it is
equally lackluster in this area. Throttle response is slow, takeoffs
are slower, and the engine provides plenty of bark at high rpm's
but not much bite. The car is also extremely noisy on the highway
and freeway, due in part to the constant need to downshift to
maintain speed even on slight downhill grades. The build quality is
terrible. The interior pieces constantly squeak and don't fit
together very well. There is also excessive road noise at highway
speeds.
This car does have some good points. The sound system is pretty
good for a mid-90's economy car, and the seats are fairly
comfortable, although the position makes it difficult for shorter
drivers to see the road. There is also plenty of legroom in the
front seats. My personal favorite feature of this car is the huge
amount and variety of storage spaces in the front, especially the
dual gloveboxes, although the only cupholder in the center console
is awkwardly positioned under the radio and there is no cupholder

2.3L L4, 3 speed w/ OD auto.
Avg mpg - 25
3 speed makes for slower acceleration: first 2 gears are good, 3rd gear's power band spread too far and wide (Edit: Gears 1 and 2 are fine. 3rd and OD are a little off) 2.3 offers 150 hp and 155 ft-lbs.Jan 30, 2011

It Runs good , lol It was a cheap car that i bought online and it goes from one place
to the other and has not needed much work for being a 1995 grand am. Can't

awesome car, dohc turborcharged, trac controll out da ass, limited slip, spoiler and the only fluid you need to put in is water and oil and gas (duh) the only problem i have had is it bottoms out too easy, i learned that when i ruptured my oil tank. lol, kayala was there.Jan 06, 2010

Decent Car, I had the higher engine package the 3.1L
although i had the se not the GT model.
Mine turned out to be a lemon car lol.
Rather than that the car was good. dont really regret selling

Runs really well. Needs to be sold though. Has 117,000 miles one it but i rebuilt the engine and had transmisson rebuilt at 100,000 miles. Great first car. I threw a cd player and new speakers in there. Asking for 2900$ if your interested gimme a call.Sep 04, 2009

the car is a v6 and when you step on it it go. The car is green 4 doors. It dont take long to go 0 to 100 kmh.

High maintenance. somewhat reliable. Good first car. Ive had the car for a little bit over a year and have already had to replace radiator, water pump, transmission. I also blew a head at 140k miles, that combined with a rear main leak and worn oil pump required engine replacement. Where do I begin?
In the most basic sense, this car is far more performance
based than anything else. With the true Pontiac styling kept
intact the arrowhead which adorns the front bumper of the
car accentuates the true heritage of Pontiac and General
Motors. the 3.1L V6 does not sound tired, as many have
written and in fact with slight modifications can be quite
powerful (powerful enough to race your average joe in a
Neon at a stoplight).
Beyond the styling and moderate performance, this car is
CHEAP, and I don't mean poorly made. It is of course a
General Motors car, meaning that parts will be readily
available for it for many years to come. GM loves old GM
owners, as they assume we will be coming back for more,
and thus far they are right.
My GAGT has 135000 miles on it, and the engine still runs
very well. Unfortunately, the transmission is not, but a
simple clutch replacement and master cylinder repair has
solved that, or so I'm told.
In any event, this is a fantastic piece of automotive machinery
and anyone who tells you otherwise should give GM another
shot - remember: it's not how the car treats you, its how you

Great cars - but about 91 thru late 90's ALWAYS develop an intake manifold leak that causes coolant to leak into the oil, which in turn causes sludge. I've got about 120k miles on it, and a TON of sludge - easily noticeable just opening the oil cap on the valve cover. I'm just waiting for a chunk to break loose and ruin my day.Sep 14, 2008

However it did cost alot of money to keep the vehicle in good running order. Probably the worst car I've ever owned, despite it having a factory CD player (that only sometimes worked). The V6 didn't have a lot of power despite its 3.1L displacement, and there was always at least three things wrong with it, whether it was electrical, mechanical, or cosmetic.Mar 26, 2008

It's a pretty strong car when you are not fixing it. It seems like it won't go 3 months without something going wrong. The 3.1L engine is notorious for common problems and being difficult to work on. I replaced the transmission at about 125,000 miles and then the motor at about 142,000 miles. Even a simple task like changing the spark plugs requires taking out the motor mounts and tilting the entire engine forward because the spark plugs are in the back of the motor. It has a slick look to it though and like I said, it is a strong car when everything is working properly.Mar 19, 2008

Intake manifold leaks. I personally see at least 20 a week in my place of work. GM slipped up hardcore when they built the most popular 60 degree V6. A problem with the intake manifold gaskets where the coolant (usually Dexcool) leaks onto the manifold. In the most common and extreme cases, the heads will actually warp and cause a headgasket leak. People like to blame Dexcool but the fact of the matter is that if you take care of your car and do the PROPER maintainence at or before its due, time or mileage-wise, it will treat you right. I mean don't get me wrong, GM screwed up bad, I've seen brand new 3500s with coolant sweats on the intake. What they should've done from the get-go is change the gasket design instead of continuing with it for 10+ years. Now they're in court (in the US) because of it.Jan 27, 2008
