I like everything about the car minus back seat leg room and the amount of repairs needing to be done. As with any older car it needs repairs, they dont seem to be too costly, but its one thing after another. As far as the look of the vehicle its pretty! And options to Make it prettier are 1000s of ideas. Overall i love the carMay 27, 2015

Reason I gave it five stars on power is because a 4g63 has alot of potential. It gets pretty good gas mileage and if something goes wrong or breaks its usually pretty cheap and easy to fix. especially if you have owned one for awhile they usually turn an ordinary person into a mechanic lol. This is why i gave it 3 stars for reliability, these cars are notorious for having problems. So always take good care of your DSM ;)Jun 12, 2012

very fun car to have but maintenance is a must oil changes every 3000 miles checking fluids and and so on and stuff gas mileage is great when ur not racing or boosting hard very fun car to have if u never had a turbo car before Jun 10, 2012

This is my third Eclipse, 2nd turbocharged one. When in the right hands, these
cars can be very economically and reliably enhanced to become a very quick,
fun car to drive.
Unfortunately, most turbo Eclipses have been abused, poorly modded, and left
in rough
shape. My performance mods to this car include a Dynomax turbo-back 2.5"
exhaust, full
K&N Cold-air intake with short-ram intake, large front mount intercooler, Walbro
255LPH
fuel pump, short-throw shifter, and a manual boost controller set at 12psi.
Appearance
mods include smoked taillights, LED interior lights, custom painted rims, tinted
glass,a-pillar
gauge holder with Autometer water, boost, and oil pressure gauges, and
custom Ralli-Art
floormats. These cars have great build quality, the only mechanical issue I've
had since I
bought it was a fuel pump replacement, which I upgraded to a Walbro. The
cargo room is
astronomical! I can fit two white water kayaks inside with the back seats folded
down and
no passenger. There isn't really any room for a passenger in the back seat.
Aftermarket

Personally I don't like the bumper , but it was free and starting to crack I need to
repair it . I love the performance ,though it could be bumped up with a bigger turbo

I love this car! Its been my dream to own a GSX forever, and everything about them is perfect. Mine is only a GS which comes with a non-turbo 420a Chrysler motor. But I've seen many people turbo them.
Performance-wise mine has Crower stage 3 254 cams, Aem cold-air Intake, OBX Front Strut Bar(which makes for great handling especially around corners. eibach lowering springs, & Adjustable bushings/Camber kit on all four corners.
Transmission just had some work done. I replaced the throwout bearing, all motor mounts, plugs & wires(on a regular basis), and replaced all the wheel hubs, control arms, bushings, ball joints. I'm also savin to make it a turbo 420a beast! Cosmetically.. it has z3 fenders, oem turbo wing, drifter sideskirts, clear sidemarkers, & Halo headlights w/ 10k HIDs. Everything about it...color, shape, sound, is flawless. The interior also flawless.
This car is excellent all around, there's a lot of available aftermarket parts for DSMs, easily customizable and extremely sexy and fun to drive. I'm in love.Dec 07, 2010

The performance was moderate for being a non-turbo eclipse. the interior started falling apart quickly. The seat back on the drivers seat actually broke. So i had to have the seat welded back together. The timing belt frayed and broke one of the cam gears off of the cam. And the water pump had to be replaced 3 or 4 timesApr 02, 2010

The eclipse GSX is a very fun car to dive. the turbo sounds amazing when its at the right RPM. If you upgrade it just right then it can become a beast. car is fun to drive and has really amazing control.Dec 07, 2009

The 2G DSM is nice but its no EVO. Fun to drive even though mine is still mostly stock. MPG HW was 28. If you ge the chance to get on that is rust free and stock get it, it will make a good platform to start upgrading form.Nov 18, 2009

Cheap easy power. Low drag. Good gas mileage (30+mpg) 140 traps have been done on completely stock block.
Fwd quickly becomes hassle after a few bolt ons. Suspension is out dated.
4g63 has records in almost every class from awd to rwd to fwd. Nov 04, 2009

Its got the power of a V8 but it also comes with the gas milage too. Its the only car i kept more than 8 months. Its very fun to drive, i also wish i had the money to dump into it again. lol Oct 29, 2009

performance----accelerates, brakes, and handles immaculately with the AWD
build quality----rebuilt turbo at 122k and cylinder head at 148k, squeaky belts from time to time
appearance----a real head turner. nothing but compliments!
cost----about 25mpg, High maintenance costs though.

This is the type of car that has crazy potential if you want to go fast but it will also give you a heart attack with all the problems that it can randomly shoot at you but it's stilol worth the purchase if you have the drive to build a nice car!Sep 28, 2009

Quick car handles very well little mods to make very quick. Car does require a lot of attention and maintenance but if you keep up on the car it will be a dream car for sure. The cost of the car is cheap and well maintained the gas mileage can stay in the 30mpg range even heavily modded if you run the right set up and have a street/track tune separate. Car is amazingly fun to drive and has a lot of people second guessing what the car is capable after i race them or they come along for a little joy ride. It's a great looking car. It has plenty of power to get you around. The turbo and the exhaust sound great. I would recommend this car to all of my friends. But it does make an annoying clicking sound at idle that i hate, but thats my only complaint about it.Sep 19, 2008

like it alot, kinda grew outa it tho, the turbo charged motor is a blast, with a simple 100 part, it made the car perform amzingly, as for handling it was ok, the limited slip differential limited my cornering and at sharp turns the car would cut out, other then that the car is beautiful and i like it Jul 30, 2008

Completely rebuilt. Greddy TD05h 18-G turbo with a stage 4 intercooler. New heads, pistons, cam, 90lb injectors. Right now pushing 400fwhp at 5000rpm and 17psi of boost. Can leave evo's, sti's, and most imports in the dust. It has full Tien coilovers and 18 in motegi rims. Jun 07, 2008

95 eclipse, it was black, I had a Carbon fiber hood on it, magnaflow exhaust system, and a Bomz (from ebay) cold air intake. It was slow, becuase it was a 2.0L I-4. I was trying to save money and not have a v8 but just wasnt me.Apr 28, 2008

I absolutely loved this car when i had it. It handled corners and gripped the road so well, it was like being at the track. At 2000 rpm the turbo kicked in and it was gone, gotta love it. It got very good gas mileage, it was a 4-cyl so it didnt have a huge tank to fill, and when full, it lasted awhile. The interior of mine was leather and being that it was a black car; well that made it a hot car, literally, in the summer. That and being that i am somewhat tall, there wasnt a ton of leg room for me but, hey, it didn't care...i loved it(-:Apr 02, 2008

Well, the saying - "DSMs - turning ordinary people into mechanics since 1989" - holds true. I probably never worked on a car aside from changing a tire until I got this thing, and it is all starting to pay off. I fell in love with this car the moment I saw it, and I had to have it. A quick trip to the bank and some haggling, and I drove it home. In my opinion, 95-99 Eclipses have one of the most appealing looks ever put out, 97-99 bumpers preferably. Overall I would certainly recommend a turbo Eclipse or Talon to anyone, but do yourself a favor and take care of the maintenance first, because you'll only wear things out faster as you add power and drive harder.Mar 02, 2008

this car looked stock but really wasnt, it was stage 2 everything: clutch, turbo, intercooler, exhaust. had 1 scratch on front bumber thats it... with grey leather and a sunroof... this car had everything, even 2 12in audiobahns pounding in the trunkDec 31, 2007
