Really a fun car to drive. Not so expensive to mod or to repair. About 6L/100km with a tank an average of 500km. It's not a good car if you are more than 2 adults. That's about it for the little mx3.Nov 09, 2012

Unique, sporty and fun are how I would I describe the MX-3, known here in aus as the 30x. It handles like a little go-kart esp if all suspension, wheel bearings and steering rack is all sound, mine is a bit worn and sloppy now but still fun! Mazda fitted these cars with trapezoidal linkage to the rear wheels meaning that they turn slighty when turning thus helping cornering. Being front wheel drive you do get some understeer and pushing wide but it's just learning what the car is like and adjusting your driving to suit. I have great fun in mine. They have a 1.8ltr V6 engine, the smallest production 6 ever made but due to this, is has not much low end torque so you have to really give it some curry to get it up and running but once it hits about 4k rpm, just wants to run away from you which is fun. Acceration and fuel economy compares to a 2ltr 4 cyl of the same era, so perhaps they might have been better going with this... They are also very cheap to buy, so if your looking for something sporty and fun for not much cash, look into one of these little gems!Aug 26, 2010

fairly powerful for a 1.6 L4, parts are a little pricey, has not really needed much. engine light keeps coming on... no clue why. it is a fairly fun car to drive, but i find i get "picked on" alot.May 01, 2010

Great acceleration and handling... little problem with braking... Dont need any
repairs... I changed a lot inside my car so i cant tell anything... ;P Cost?? With my
driving around 10l/100km, but no repairs so cost its ok for me... I have big fun with
my Mazda ;)Apr 10, 2010

Awesome look but low performance, if you want to drop alot of money into it you can get an un equaled car in style and performace the klze jspec drops in at over 160hp stock with a turbo easily over 200hp. Nov 01, 2009

Needs new exhaust - sounds good atm though, looking forward to swapping in a KLZE 2.5L V6 eventually, talk about zoom zoom. its got some balls with the 1.8 V6 at the moment but 2.5 is no comparison. Looking to lower it come spring, love the stance of it when lowered, especially with JDM skirts Oct 25, 2009

It sounds creamy, is super smooth, comfortable and ha a good turn of speed. Plus it looks cool in a 90's Jap style. It's bomb proof, reasonably economical, has a wicked interior and handles really well for a front drive car.Oct 22, 2009

It's a very atrractive car, looks and behaves very sportive but is payable too. I own one for about 6 years now.
Quick acceleration. Direct steering, perfect control on the road, very little understeer.
I drive it on LPG (gas), G3. Works great, with 1600 cc engine. I'd rather have a 1800 cc tough, much faster. Biggest downside is that they dont' make them anymore, if they would I would buy a new one immediately!Apr 20, 2009

I loved the sweet reving engine, and its looks, its handling was fantastic and it was very reliable.
Adding an HKS induction kit and big bore exhaust made it sound like a monster, its a pity it never really had the sheer performance to match it.Apr 08, 2009

1996 Mazda MX-3 Precidia.
1.6 16 valve DOHC
225,000 km
Even though it has a tiny engine, it's a quick little car to drive around. Kinda boring being automatic but it's still good.
hoping to have her on the road by this summer once little engine upgrades, rims and tires, and body work is done.Feb 18, 2009

my favorite feature on this car is the sunroof. its the first car i owned tht has a sunroof. nice looking car, picks up speed fast especially in the highway, braking and handling are excellent. hard to check the blind spot though (coz of the hatchback feature) and the fact that its v6, eats a lot of gas!Aug 07, 2008

with 5000.00 dollars of modification on this car and see what it became...!!! this car was simply the prettiest iv'e owned before my S2000's it's hard to beat an s2k....
the V-6 engine was an 1.8 only!!! but what a noise from the exaust system amazing... no modofications needed to the exaust system but to the engine....Jul 22, 2008

I love the sound in the car, soon I'll be fixing the body and adding some aftermarket parts like rims, exhaust, etc., The car needs a new belt. The car is not no Hummer or anything its a freakin Mazda for christ sakes so it isn't the most roomiest car but is has a sunroof and and power everything. The car has about 150,000 miles on it but it is an import so they usually last.Jul 08, 2008

The 130-horsepower 1.8-litre V6 with double-overhead cams and 24-valves was willing to rev smoothly to 7,000 rpm and is well matched by the five-speed manual transmission. Jun 27, 2008

this car handles very well. I would go for the 1.8 V6 model as power and aceleration is great. power is about 150BHP with a couple of mods. 139 as standardJun 24, 2008

My dad owned one of these, and it was the first time I actually sorta, fell for a car guess you could say. They're hard to find now, and apparently there's a new MX-3 concept they're working on. But I loved the way that car was on the road. Mar 22, 2008
