1995 Audi S6: Prices, Reviews & Pictures

This review is about the 1995.5 S6 Avant I've had since 2007 after wrecking a previous version bought in 2006. I've owned 5-cylinder Avants now for a long time, and they are fantastic cars for handling, power, comfort, and appearance. This car has IA Stage II chip, RS2-ex. manifold, retrofitted HID lights from a TT, and Phat-Noise system to replace the CD player. Recaro seats are awesome, and I wish they still made cars like this, but updated with some of the more modern features. The acceleration is fantastic, but stock brakes are poor - mine have been retrofitted with Porsche BBK up front and it stops well now. Suspension isn't as precise as newer C5 models, but it handles just fine in the Cascades of Oregon. I've put ~100K on this car, done a ton of work on it myself, but it is dependable, very fast, and still looks good even among modern versions of Audis. Can't see parting with it any time soon.Apr 06, 2014

Best car Audi ever has made. If I could I would buy a new 1995 Audi S6 in a heart beat. Come on Audi give us a 6mt with size and power that is not stupid expensive! Ich liebe mein S6Jul 14, 2013

Bought the car well used so had to put some work into it. Overall it has been a fun car. There is a little too much turbo lag for my taste and 2nd gear is a little tall, but still has decent accelleration. It is still going strong at 180K so it can't be too badDec 19, 2011

this thing is soooooo much fun to drive. i love driving this thing the way i the i5 sound or the crazy looks i get when they get passed by e boosted banana. car runs and drives smooth. great for tearing up the snow dirt pavement. car is pretty dam quick rated 250 stock mine has rs2 stage 2 chip set forged diverter valve cold air turbo back exhaust Jun 03, 2010

Best car i have ever owned. Getting ready to sell my 05 A8L to go back to this car. Maintain it and you will never have to replace a part. Car is an amazing drive and leaves everyone behind. Great sleeper.Nov 04, 2009

love it, i love everything about it. when you stomp on the gas, there is a little bit of lag, but then the turbo kicks in and your gone, no one can catch you. stage 1 is done. RS2 spec is on the way, which is bigger turbo and and exh. manifold. plus some software.Sep 20, 2009

The AWD system is amazing! Performance is amazing, and the handling is spectacular! This thing hooks up and is gone in a second, it is near impossible to move ur head forward as it pulls. If you want a car that is fast and is comfortable, this is the car for you !!!Aug 17, 2009

Awsome car overall, well equiped with big recaro leather seats, the stock L5 turbo 20v engine is at 227hp and over 300hp when chipped. But the car is quite heavy and could use 400hp for optimum performance. buy one to understandJul 08, 2009

Purchased with ~100k on it, in early April. So far, loving it. The performance is fantastic, it has 230hp and 250ft lbs, and although the turbo lag is noticeable, it still has some power when it's off boost. The handling is amazing for a 3900lb car, and the build quality is fantastic. The interior is extremely high quality, without all the gizmos of newer Audis, and the powerplant is extremely reliable. So far I had to replace a relay, but that's basically it. The only real downside is the MPG, due to the AWD. It gets about 18-21mpg in most cases. The factory stereo has a built in sub too, so that's pretty stellar.May 17, 2009

Performance - Lots of torque, plenty of highway power Handling - Great with Bilstein/H&Rs Brakes - mediocre. Needs a major upgrade Build Quality - stands the test of time. Blower motor needs replacing Appearance - Q-ship Cost of ownership - Cheap-ish Fun Factor - Fun to drive daily.May 15, 2009

The swiss army knife of autos. Carrys the whole family in whatever weather you ask it to, handles nicely, accelerates with vigor, with Porsche Boxster brake upgrade, stops with authority. All this and the car has been extremely reliable and comfortable to boot with heated Recaros and all the toys you'd expect in a car of this caliber. The only negative is that the car is SO under the radar, few know it ever existed and fewer know much of anything about it. Nov 02, 2008

Like the seats, the space, 4wd, ac, the automatic transmission, the powerfull engine, and the stereo. Don't like the expensive parts that seems to break all the time, the low clearance from the ground, it uses a lot of fuel, and i don't like my summer rims. They are so called low profile, but it is terrible to drive with on norwegian roads. I have allready crocked 2 of them, but i managed to find a guy who could stretch them out again.Aug 14, 2008

This is my second urS car. I personally enjoy the sedan more but the wagon is very helpful: third row seat, flat olding rear seats, rear wiper.... Reliable, powerful, decent mileage, and many options you cannot get on newer cars (auto windows, auto climate, heated seats, 6CD, etc....)Mar 14, 2008
