its a good every day driver to go to work and back. most street racers desire the engine. not recommended for long road trips. maintenance costs are low if you keep up on it. fun sporty car if your looking for something with a little power.Mar 25, 2014

Quick and exciting car to drive on a daily basis, Best engine Mitsubishi ever made in the best Eclipse they ever made. The handling wasn't perfect but with a few minor upgrades the car could handle with the best of them. Not only did this car feature Mitsubishi's best engine but in my opinion this was the best chassis for it and the best looking car as well.Nov 17, 2011

great styling looks like every other import car from the 90's paint looked like crap and the interior was faded. Window tint turned purple of course and the fabric was sunfaded . it also had a leaking sunroof which was always normal.May 27, 2010

Lots of power potential, the fastest honda in the 1/4 is powered by a 4g63.... gotta say sumthing about dsm, but they still suck....

just got this today (5/27/09). drift body kit, short throw, blue under glow and neon on the interior of car, very clean, custom paint, shifts great, good car so far. never seen winter, was a Michigan car then a Wisconsin car and now a Minnesota car :] May 28, 2009

As far as performance is concerned, this is not your car. Starting at 90 hp, it's one of the slowest cars that I have driven. It's unfortunately thought of as a fairly fast car. While I'm sure it's possible, this model isn't it. Go for the 2.0L turbo for the most power.Mar 09, 2009

The acceleration and handling on this car is better than any other car we've ever owned, then again, we haven't really owned any sports cars before this one. So it's not really expecting anything else.
The build quality is good, the only thing we had to do was repair the air conditioning (when we bought it it didn't work) and the struts for the hatch. That's it.
Appearance is kind of where it falls short for me, I guess I don't have the artistic eye that Mitsubishi thought of when they made it. The interior styling is good in front, not so good in the back. But, they never really meant for people to go in the back much did they?
Cost of ownership has been exceptional, we got a great deal on the car ($1,500) and after that we spent $100 on the struts and the A/C, that's it. It's got the best gas mileage of anything we own at 35mpg.
Fun factor is where this car really shines, it's a beauty to handle, it turns on a dime and is very responsive compared to what we are used to, the sound of the engine in your ears just sends adrenaline pumping through you. Overall it's exciting to drive AND to ride.Dec 20, 2008

This is my third one of these cars, and ive owned three for a reason. they're great cars, and the 4g63 is an amazing engine thats tough as hell, and can put out some good hp. The whole cars overall is built very well and is very reliable.Dec 17, 2008

Just love everything about this car! Specialy turbocharged engine, nice looking enterior with dark grey letaher sports seats.Love this green colour and her look overall!It didn't cost me too mouch and I just love to ride this car!Bought this car 4 mounths ago and for now on I'm really satisfied. At the moment it has a locked up 1.8 ..im bout to change it out to a surpise...its a good car...handles great...recommend 5 speed...the 1.8's r quick top n bottom end..i ran n2 a few problems wit mine but thats wit any used car..wat else..lol..umm the braking system is best u barely tap the brake ur goin n2 the dash..lol..overall this is a great model...i believe this is the best model they came out wit of the eclipse...its smaller ..less weight...nice fast...MITSUBISHI motors...lol not those fake ass ones n the new eclipse 95 n up..lolMay 31, 2008

This was not the crazy awesome Eclipse GSX, but it was a nice car nonetheless. It had Mitsubishi's humble 4g37 engine, a 1.8L 2V inline 4 that produced 92 hard working horses and a full fledged 105ft lbs of torque. Ok, so the car had no guts - but you could tell it was giving it's all! And it wasn't necessarly slow, I had it up to about 120mph one night (going downhill of course), but acceleration was probably lacking. Nice thing was that the engine was non-interference unlike it's GS and GSX siblings, so you never had to worry about timing belt failure.
This car was extremely reliabile and dependable. I purchased it at around 115k and drove it nearly 50,000 miles in two years. It never had a single issue, and achieved decent fuel economy (33mpg). The brakes on this car were great, it could really stop on a dime. I loved the standard foglights, the way the stereo sounded, and how the AC blew ice, this was my first car and it was a good car:)
My only gripe about this car was the comfort, after riding about a half hour your lower back really began to hurt. And I wasn't the only one saying this, I had many friends that felt the same also. It seemed as if there was a "black hole" on the bottom of the seat that gave no support to your lower back.
I probably still would of had this car today, but unfortunately I totalled it on a country road. I was very stupid at the time.Apr 03, 2008
