I loved that it was free given to me by my parents. but I always felt as though I was driving a grandma car. and after 16 years it started having issue after issue. when I got rid of it it was running great. just the a/c no longer blew cold and was leaking oil. needed a oil pump and I just parked it and bought another car.Aug 26, 2013

I bought my '94 Spirit with 234,000 miles on it for $200. The engine and transmission were great and performed excellent for the high mileage. However, the open differential generated minimal acceleration in mud/snow. The CV joints were weak and grinded loudly when cornering. When I took the car into a demo derby, one hit to the fender busted the CV joint and tie rod on the driver's side and the wheel flopped over onto the ground. This car was a rusted out POS but I do think Spirits have a nice look too them. It was excellent on gas, but not fun to drive, maintenance was expensive and it sucked at demo derbies.Dec 29, 2010

I bought this car in 2000. It had 38000 miles on it. It has a 3L engine and I have averged 31.5 mpg (Imperial Gallons) for the last 118,000 miles. I am still running the orginal rear brakes and SS exhaust. It look like a new car inside and out with the origonal paint. Waxed twice a year. I replaced the front struts this year and the tranny 4 years ago. It runs like a new car and starts at -20f without fail. I bought a 2009 Corolla but still use the Spirit for my main ride. It performs every bit as good.Feb 23, 2010

The spirit is my baby. My uncle gave him to me April, 26, 2007. It's a V6 so it gets better performance than people think, however it also eats more gas than people think. I'd say I've only given it the usual maintenance. Oil changes, tires, etc. Some may say it's ugly, but...well it's a little ugly. Sep 01, 2008

When the car works, it works really well. I have to say that I have been impressed with a car that runs well with 180k on it. But the starter just went out on me because the alternator is going out, and so I've had to replace one starters and two batteries within two years. Other than these problems, I have been satisfied.May 06, 2007
