Actually, I do like the look of the car. It doesn't exactly look like a fire bird, but hey, you can tell the raceing blood still flows through it's veins (or gas lines, to be more precise). It is quite comfortable, holding three adults in the back is no problem. It is no Cadillac though, you will notice when you hit a bump in the road, but it won't jar you either. It gets 26 mpg, so it does ok. It has had lots of repairs, all done by me and my dad. Like I said, it was in a reck long before I got it , so it's almost expected to have problems. For a four banger, it's ok on accleration. I will say it is a tank. I've driven in flood waters so high they were up to the engine and it trucked on through. Actually there was an old raised toyota pickup behind me when I did drive through the water and I left him in the dust (or mud more like it). Overall, good little car.Aug 04, 2011

overall i love this car. its pretty easy to maintain and fix up. it could have some changes such as the exhaust should have a y-pipe like the newer modles. other than a few worrisome things its what u would look for in a front-wheel drive.Mar 17, 2011

Loved this car, it handled great in the snow and was pretty good on gas. Had to replace the heating core on it which was a pretty major job. Finally had to get rid of it after it got a rod knock at 215,000 miles. Nov 29, 2010

This was the car that started it all. Had the 3.3L V-6, good torque but the car overall was very slow. This car took a beating and kept ticking. Loved to eat crankshaft sensors. Traded it in for the 1993 talon.Oct 24, 2010

This car was only about 3 years old when i bought it from a very close friend. The paint had started to peel off the hood during the first year of my friends' ownership so by the time I got the car it had a really bad sunburn. There was plenty of power from the V-6, but the drawback was that during even moderate braking the front of the car would dive. The interior was like a spaceship and got high marks from me for ergonomics and styling. The nosediver got sold to a work friend and one day during a sudden stop the nose dove so far that back end lofted and that's when the other car hit. Luckily the drivers were not hurt but the poor old Grand Am was toast.May 29, 2010

well i cant seem to say much about this car yet the v6 has a lot of poer i recently got this car and have had a lot of fun rebuilding it although the motor mount design and to pull the engine sucks because of the way that the engine mounts are designed other than that parts are readily avalible if you can find a head gasket major problem with the 3.1 engine once you have over come that it is a great car with loads of power good handeling and reliabilty.... this car well stays sitting now for i now have transmissions soleniod problems cannot find the exact same trans that it is in it all are newer and to get it rebuilt properly will cost 1600 the photo here is before i started to rebuild and it does look a fair amount different nowOct 04, 2009

This was a car to drive to college until it broke down on me. It blew head gaskets all the time. Seemed like we were always putting parts in it. It was fun to drive. It was purple and real cute for a college girl. But it was a POS and I had to get something else that was dependable.Aug 13, 2009

Great speed, brakes were great, handling was awesome. I bought it for $600.00 at an auto sales type deal and it had some problems but they didnt show till a little after I started driving and that was there was a crack in the radiator, so it was always over heating. The thermostat was stuck. The floor board under the drivers side was rusted so everytime you went through a puddle in the road your feet would be soaked..lol. From what you could actually see The car looked really really nice inside and out. I got about 20 - 22 miles to the gallon. It handled great so it was really fun to drive especially on curvy roads. Stupid 2.3L Quad 4.... Most horrible motor ever made!!! I Just replaced the water pump, and now the motor spun a cam bearing..... It is definately the worst motor GM ever built.... NEVER EVER BUY A QUAD!!! Hopefully getting my wifes old Cherokee!!!May 10, 2009

The electrical doesn't ever seem to be working properly and the check engine light comes on often enough to drive me nuts, but not often enough to diagnose. The car is a great family car and it rocks in the snow.Mar 30, 2009

i wish i had not hit that tree it would still look perfect.It has great acceleration , once i repair the brake line (its getting old) it'll brake perfect, it slips a little right now. it handles great if you know what your doing. I can fish tail out of anything.It gets pretty good gas mileage just keep it above halfway. Very little maintenance if you keep it out of the ditch.It is a great car i love it.Nov 09, 2008

i have driven this car for about 4000 miles and 6 things have gone wrong on it, blower motor failure, coolant leak, oil leak, atf leak, the cabin leaks, and i recently drowned my car and spent all night pulling spark plugs and changing the oil. plug and wires need to be replace. if u see a 93 ghetto am for 725$. skip it and buy a bicycle. itll save you time, money and frustration.Sep 15, 2008

I bought this car with 265,000 clicks on in for $350 bucks.
the exhaust fell off of it on the way home, worried me alittle, a friend of mine put a used exhaust on with no muffler, and new brakes on it. certified for about $600.
The car now has 320,000 clicks on it, i've ran it out of oil, overheated it 5 times and i don't check any fluids in it. its been crashed through a hydro pole, ditched at 60 mph. and also crashed into a fence post when i fell asleep at the wheel. the car now needs a harmonic balancer, it ticks really loudly when its idling. i have no intention on fixing it. this car was a great investment and owes me nothing.

Its got some electrical issues which are apparently very popular with this style car. But it fits the kids (three with carseats) and it has a big trunk and the a/c works ok. so overall for the price, I am pretty pleased with it. It's silver, not white, but thats okAug 01, 2008

Has a four cylinder motor so not alot of power there and is kinda rusted on the underbody but your in new enland what you gonna do bout it. I picked it up cheap and is a great car looks great and all. I like the 2 door feature that it has and sleak front. real nice car in the end for what i paid for itJul 31, 2008

mine has a 2.3L quad four HO puts out about 230HP 190foot pounds of torque, racing clutch and custom tranny ratios, minimal suspention work done, new shocks, camber caster kits, manual, blue, mag rims, was pooly maintained by previous owner but engine has been swapped to the HO and after all initial repairs it has been extreamly reliable and it gets excellent milage in the city, Jan 06, 2008
