1992 Plymouth Sundance Reviews, Pricing & Specs

My Sundance has been semi-babied--true. Still, its paint job (bright red with its original diamond wax coating) is as shiny today as when I first acquired it. It has received one brake job; had a ding to its right side pounded out and re-painted; has undergone a few tuneups and two battery changes; is regularly rolled into a lube&oil bay for an obligatory oil change. But, other than a sensor which went confooey whilst under warranty well over a decade ago, the lil darlin' has not seen the inside of a mechanic's shop----EVER! It continues to run like a top, steers as straight as an arrow (look ma, no hands); is a sweetie on gas; religiously passes its air care tests--and just generally behaves itself. Yes, some of my friends have thought for some time that I was well over-do for a new car. It's no Toyota, no Honda, no Hyundi--just a domestic mongrel--with character! But after so many years of seeing this car perform on command, every day, year in and year out without so much as a hiccup---WELL,their derision has turned to respect or they've all just given up prodding me to up the ante to a more respectable foreign make. Oh, I think I'm ready to find me a more luxuriously riding car pretty soon, but sell it off to a stranger. Hmmm, I dunno. It would be hard. I mean after all these years of loyal service, it would be akin to getting rid of the family dog simply on the basis of age. C'mon, not nice. For purposes of keeping the Robin in the family, I tried offering it to my adult children. First my son. Yeah, right, mom, will be right over to pick it up. NOT! I next phoned my daughter. Deafening silence at the other end and then an explosive burst of laughter. I took that as a "no." Apr 10, 2009
