As a teen in the 90's, I fell in love with sports sedans (I don't know why). Saw the SHO brand-new as a kid and had to get one as soon as I finished college. I found a red, five-speed manual with about 70K on the odometer. I put another 72K on it and sold it to help defray the cost of an engagement ring. This car was fun. Great, great engine. its ok, needs piant, head liner, head lights! got the car with 38k miles now its got 112k and a trip from texas under its belt! i love this car cuz its quick and its ugly! i cant wait to get a new truck tho!!Nov 18, 2011

-stock performance was good,but the car really took to performance mods well,let that 3.0L breathe better really wakes it up!
-the stock brakes leave alot to be desired,but the '96 SHO brake upgrade made a huge difference
-it does rattle,but then again it is 18 years old
-interior styling is a little dated in my opinion,so an upgrade is sorely needed,exterior styling is better ,and only differs slightly than the regular taurus,but helps in the whole sleeper vibe that the car eminates
-not very costly to own one of these,if the car was taken care of,and you are able to handle the bulk of the repairs your self,or have a mechanic as a good friend(discount)
-The car is loads of fun to drive...I love shocking people in "better" cars,and I also love it when people say "what kind of car is that",and "oh I didnt know that they made a stick shift taurus"May 26, 2010

talk about pepe and wish the floor pan in the rear dident rust so it would pass so i could be driving it itwas a great car the only thing it would run through was starters and it only took about a hundred or 2 - gas cost tokeep it runing i mis it a lot

this car is very quick with a beefed up 3.2L v6. a little sluggish in handling but it will make up for it in the straight away. the car came stock with a premium 7 speaker sound system that sounded amazing. leather interior and power everything including heated seats and sun roof. climate control and this car was very fun to driveSep 28, 2009

rides like a 35 year old mule.
everything needs replacing except the door handles.
usta be pretty slick, then 1994 ended.
still gets 17+ mpg. constantly needs new brake lines and headlights.
All in all, i've had fun in this car. it's a bit junky so i don't mind taking it for a spin in a cornfield...Sep 26, 2009

It was a great car, the seats were comfortable. LOL. The car only had 85MPH on the speedometer so when it comes to being fast (it's not). There were some transmission problems but maybe the car just couldn't handle my crazy ass driving? Maybe it wasn't built for it? Who am I kidding of course it was made for crazy driving. It's a ford. none theres nothing much good to say about this car except it lasted approx 17 years and now it stalls out whenever it feels like it so it is not running well anymore. theres longevity to the car, but i dont like it.Aug 11, 2009

This car was a mistake on my part. The reason why is I opted for the 3.8 liter V-6 instead of the way more reliable 3.0 V-6. With the larger engine with this car gives you the same amount of horsepower, but with a substantial amount of more torque, that's about it. The negatives when you get this engine. Bad transmissions, head gaskets that need to be replaced about every 50,00 miles, bad motor mounts, pretty much getting the larger V-6 ruins the car. They only used the 3.8 V-6 from 1988 to 1995 in the Ford Taurus. Opt for the smaller 3.0 V-6.Jul 26, 2009

Screaming yamaha engine, 5spd manual, Police dont notice you, insurance and taxes are almost nothing. Although its rated at 220hp, and weighs 3300 lbs, you can still whoop a wrx, 9-3 viggen, 3 series bmw, Si civic, and just about any other ricer car or older mustang/camaro out there. did I mention 25-28 mpg hwy?
Hope your a mechanic if you own one, as I am. maintenance is very expensive and pretty technical compared to other cars.Jul 19, 2009

Picked this car up in exchange for the engine in my last car. By far it is the best
car i have owned...so far. No major problems, and it is really quick, but also
loud, and attention gathering, the two biggest downsides. The upsides are
enough that they are negated out.
Owned this car for a year. Sold it to a scumbag in April of last year. During the
year that I owned it though, I never had any major problems. Replaced the
exhaust, replaced the driver's side axle, did the brakes all the way around, etc.
When I got the car back from said scumbag, the brakes were shot, the trans
had a broken axle, the exhaust was leaky, the electronics didnt work, the
seat's lumbar support system had been blown out, and the battery was super
dead. I sold it for $400, with my pride and my tail tucked in.

It works...barely. The quality could be better, but then again it is a Ford from the 90s. Looks like a jelly bean on wheels, and is about as sluggish as an actual jelly bean. Cost of ownership is high seeing as I have to get gas once every week. Maintenance is difficult, the previous owner did no maintenance what so ever. Overall a good drive, but I'll be glad to get another car.Mar 05, 2009

I bought this car with fire damage in high school and spent 3 months fixing it. The SHO engine is very solid. I have 284,000 miles on it and it still runs great. One of the perks of this car is the fact that it's fast, it's a 5 speed, it has 4 doors, and I can drive it year round.

* Build Quality - problem with ball joints, other than that solid
* Appearance - nice cloth interior, clean looking, no rust
* Cost of Ownership - 26 mpg, older car so it needed some minor work

Boat, handled and looked like one. But fast. I think. I dont remember, it didnt have much of a tachnometer and it was automatic.
It blew up in no time, I think it threw a rod and the transmission blew up. It drank gas like it was free. But a confortable boat.Jul 22, 2008

a 1992 with 35000 on the engine for $500. Since the day I got her, she's been my
favorite car, and I can't wait to have many more good times with her.
Traded her in for Wayne. Don't regret it. OlBlue2916 had her fair share of

This car is an emblem of American Pride. Though it is getting old, this car still has character. It's not fast doesn't handle corners well, doesn't accelerate very fast but the 3.8 V6 is still kicking. This is a true American's family sedan.Apr 10, 2008

the taurus sho is a total diferent car from the regular taurus, more power, more options, yamaha engine, standart transmission available,etc. this is the first car that i owned and i think it worth it...the only thing is your girlfriend will be jealous of this car because youll spend more mney on it than on your girlfriend hehe... but overall this car is amazing i rly like it and the mecanic inside is rly powerful and reliable if u take care of it...Jan 10, 2008
