blistering performance even on the standard t2 turbo turned up to 15psi it
upsets alot of more powerful cars, go further and change the cam with a bigger
turbo and fully rejetted carb and this car is capable of hitting 12 sec 1/4 mile
times no probs due to a light weight of 830kg.
build quality aint the best but also aint the worst, very thirsty on petrol but is
by far the most fun i reckon you can have in a fwd car. defo the best retro
turbo hot hatch and £/bhp cant be beatMar 13, 2011

the car was light so easy to drive i use to do rally in the south of France.
the phase 2 has few change including a watercooling to the turbo charger witch extended the life of the turbo, a new ignition system witch permited 500 rpm higher. this change boost the engine to 118 hp 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 second.
in mine i did some few change but minor because the rallye group N rules doesn't let you do any change from the original exept safty (brake, suspencion...) but i did a few like replacing the exchanger for the Turbo from a lancia integral who they look like but much stronger

Strange little boxy motor that was great fun in GT Turbo form. Hoot to drive with dollops of torque low down. Torque steer was a bit of an issue epecially on a wet day. Becoming rarer and rarer these days. Watch out for sagging doors which was common and the usual turbo fables.Jul 10, 2008
