Well technically they're good cars if they are taken care of, but mine wasn't. It was ugly when I got it. That year Corolla is ugly regardless. It had descent speed my brake master cylinder went bad on it. The handling was okay but not the greatest. I never really had to put much money into it parts wise, I ended up selling it before it got to that because the master cylinder was already bad and it had a minor oil leak. I got 25 - 30 miles to the gallon, maintenance wasn't too too bad. Fun to drive? ehh..not really. Aug 11, 2009

I had a GT type sedan, with a 4AGE twin cam 1600 engine. Was alright when i got it but didnt go as hard as I expected. Did some mods such as lightened flywheel, exhaust, long intake kit with pod filter, 4-1 extractors. This really opened it up and it was heaps of fun :) Screamed once it was past 4500rpm sounded really nice. Lowered it with Jamex springs and new kyb shocks, handled well and put some 15" Dtm mags on it, Looked the part too. Nice factory sport interior. Really good all round car!Jul 25, 2009

I learned to drive stick on this car and it has 260,000 KM on it and is still on its original trans/clutch. I couldn't ask for a better learning car. I have not have had to replace anything based on faultyness. Just regular wear and tear things. The only thing is all of the interior dash lights have burnt out. I find that everything about this car is perfect. The gas milage is awesome, it is a very solid car with a very very strong engine. Acceleration is good in the manual transmission and the handling is not very tight but good for all around driving. I find that you don't see this style corolla much and I get a few people who ask about it. The style of this car for a '90 is quite sporty. The only thing i would change is the long trunk it has for a coupe. Aug 12, 2008

Toyota's descendent from the Hachi-Roku (AE86)... not the best sports car far from it but a nice and fun car to drive. The body of the car is more likely to be ruined before the engine. The engine can support a LOT of mileage and is really economic. It's a car that you don't see often in my area so people wonder what car it is and that adds to the fun of driving this nice car.Aug 06, 2008

They key factor to making a car the best it can be is build quality. Toyota has been the leader in quality products for decades. And my little corolla is no exception. What it lacks in performance and amenities, it more than makes up for in reliability. I know that it will start every time I need it to. And I am 99% sure that it will continue to do so for at least the next couple of years. Mine has over 200,000 miles on it, and it still scoots around like a youngster. Manual Tranny, Sports Coupe, 16 valve, twin cams, fun to race, body is very lightweight because of size of car. If slightly lowered, center of gravity is below ground for increased stability around tight turns. Stops well, accelerates better. If you can find one which has been babied and properly maintained but has pref. a newer/rebuilt engine in it or one from japan, this is a Great! car. Feels faster than it is due to how close you ride to the road. The seats are semi-bucketted seats, with 3 controls to adjust the seat (although they are manual, it is very comfortable). SUPER SUPER FUN FOR CANYON DRIVING/RACING, STREET RACING FOR FUN, ETC. Accelerates great, stops (especially with slotted cross drilled rotors) practically on a dime (almost). All around fun car, if body, engine and maintenance are all excellent (due to the age of the car). Nov 19, 2007
