I love big cars and this Town Car was the absolute epitome of luxury for it's time, 1990. I found the original first owners contract in the glove box and this thing was $34,899. No way on God's green Earth could I have afforded that car new, The 5.0 is a fine engine but not enough for this heavy a car. The car ran great, everything worked until one day it seemed everything started to go wrong at once, a domino effect so I got rid of it while it still ran well and shifted well, and I could get something for it..Nov 08, 2014

1990 Motor Trend Car of the Year. The last year of the underpowered push- rod 5.0L. ABS was optional (was made standard in 91). Handles like a boat and is the perfect car for long trips, it is very quiet and the rear seat is very plush. The overall quality of the car is exceptional, one of the highest quality cars ever made, latter years got cheaper and poorer quality. I average 14/21 city/highway. I occasionally tow my Baja Bug and get 15-18 on the freeway while towing. I change the oil every 4k with Motorcraft synthetic blend 10w- 30. The suspension is very soft so it cruises very well and the rear air spring keep it level no matter what you haul/tow.Jul 01, 2010

Good car. Last year with the 5.0L before they went to the terrible 4.6 (ok not terrible, but not as good as the 302). Tons of torque in the low end... not a terrific amount of horsepower, but it could hit 120+. Very easy to spin the tires in the rain, or on dry pavement. Tons of room, quiet ride unless you stomped on it, in which case you get the nice sound of a well tuned 302. 22-27mpg freeway, 16-19 city. Not bad on the gas. Like the 88 could fit a ton of people in it. Trunk is huge. Comfortable seats. Also, like the 88, terrible transmissionDec 23, 2009

Annabelle, was a greta car, until she got too expensive to maintain. What a great ride, I put on all highway mileage before and after a new engine dropped in, and even got 22 mpg on highway. Most of my time dating my now wife was spent with good times in this car. I even had to drive it left footed after my ACL surgery, and that was a breeze (put my rt. foot up on bench seat) Over 100K on this one too.Mar 31, 2008

the 1990 lincoln Town Car 4dr Signature series is a great model for any teen to start with, why? well for number one the great safety rating the lincoln town car has a 5 star safety rating, the lincoln town car is built on a solid frame better than the ones today and is heavy enough to withstand the worst crashes, in a 5mph accident (i should know this one i was in one with my lincoln) front bumper to front bumper their was no damage seen on the lincoln town car, but on the 2005 gmc yukon the bumper was dented badly. the other thing that the lincoln proformed great at is its gas milage, yes it could be better with the gas prices the way they are but for a large luxury vehicle it gets excellent milage, 19 city, 23 hwy. it has a 5.0 liter V8 ford with all the luxuries. another intesting object on the 1990 lincoln town car is the instrument panel, instead of all analog instruments its all digital. the interior is extradnory excellent orginezed compared to todays vehicles. all in all the 1990 lincoln town car singature series 4dr luxury sedan is the best car that money can buyMar 19, 2008

purchased my 1986 Lincoln Town Car after riding in a friends 89 model, I became obsessed and had to own one. The Interior in this vehicle is second to none in terms of spaciousness and comfort, the seats are so fully adjustable that anyone from my 6'1" height to a little old lady can easily drive this car and see over its massive hood. I also own a 1990 Cadillac Coupe de ville and I must say that the driver comfort in this vehicle exceeds that car while maintaining most of its amenities. I can easily fit 6 adults in this vehicle in comfort and would recommend it for family use. The car currently has 122,000 miles on it; yet the paint job still shines with only minor clear coat issues on the rear passenger door and tiny specs of surface rust on the rear fenders. The chrome still shines and the Rolls-Royce reminiscent front end with the big grille never fails to bring me pleasure. The cloth coach roof on this signature series model has begun to wear out, the stitching around the windows has come loose but there seems to be no danger of ripping or tearing. Overall the body and interior are in excellent condition for a car this age and mileage. Now for the not so great aspects of this car. Both driver side power windows have failed ($75 motor repairs), the cigarette lighter doesn't work in front (rears are fine), the power antenna no longer works,the air conditioner needs to be converted, and the radio is failing. The car has failed to start multiple times within two months and there seems to be an abundance of electrical problems with this car. I have replaced the: ignition coil, distributor, wiring harness, spark plugs, and battery at a cost of around $550. The biggest repair surprise was the heater core which required 6 hours of labor at a cost of about $500. The suspension leans to the passenger side (within Fords tolerance for now but probably not in the future), the front wheel bearing came loose, and the exhaust system is falling apart and will need to be completely replaced in the near future. The engine seems to lack power ( I can't even spin the rear wheels going uphill in the rain with the gas pedal to the floor and the brakes partially applied) and acceleration onto the highway takes forever. When I first bought this vehicle I knew it would need some repairs considering that it was 22 years old and had a lot of miles on it. I budgeted $1500 for this purpose but I believe I will soon exceed that benchmark with exhaust replacement costs. So you might wonder, "why keep fixing it?" This car rides like a dream and has space for anything or anyone I might want to transport and it gets more attention from onlookers than my Cadillac. Final Thoughts: If you are wondering about handling capabilities it is more nimble than it looks and has minimal body roll in normal driving situations with excellent braking capabilities despite lacking ABS. I feel confident driving this vehicle on curvy country roads with steep hills at 60 mph. For highway driving the vehicle feels like your sitting on your couch and cruising through your living room(I drive it 350 highway miles a week). If you want sports car handling and acceleration this car is 18.5 feet long and weighs more than two tons, get something smaller. If you can appreciate a fine luxury car and have time for repairs then I would recommend the 1986 Lincoln Town Car for you. Feb 03, 2008
