minsann.Jun 19, 2012

•Performance - acceleration thers alot of other cars that will out run it, braking yeh its got some, handling you will have fun just got work at it
•Build Quality - has repairs? yes welding but cheap to do squeaks/rattles yes of course but easy to fix an for its age wouldnt expect any less
•Appearance - interior back to the 80s here but worn well and exterior styling its just got a grate look
•Cost of Ownership - MPG very good as long you drive like your nan, maintenance any problems will be cheap to fix and you can do it yourself
•Fun Factor - is this car fun to drive? Hell yeh always puts a smile on my face with its bouncy suspension skinny wheels and that little engine grawls all day long

this car was bright yellow and was the mk2 fiesta 1.1 with the xr2 trim and interior fitted with the 1.6 cvh engine and webber twin 40's with a 4 speed box which topped at 105 mph it had koni's all round and dropped 40mm with the mk4 14" standard 4 spoke rim's, it used more fuel than my bike which got 90 mile for 20 litres so was pathetic really but the plus side was that parts were penny's so if anything packed up it cost nothing, the car was very fun to drive especially because it only had 4 gears so shot away from the line but had no top end so bye bye the car wentSep 04, 2008

This is what you call a car and a half!!! picked it up from a family who part exchanged it and brought something newer... a 1989 fiesta Bonus.. the little thing is only a 0.9 litred engined monster pushing around 40-50bhp!! but only done 74,000 miles... with the best service history you'll ever see!!
the drive is awesome and handles like a boat! speed wise.. all 4 gears work..
awesome car... u all want it!!Sep 04, 2008

It wasn't all that quick (I was once beaten off the lights by an Escort LX) but it
looked nice. The only car I have ever owned that had a sunroof.
Built quality was OK but mine blew up so I don't have much regard for the 1.6
engine.Jul 08, 2008

£2000 worth of Ford’s finest Fiesta XR2 [like that says a lot]. This car had about 90,000 miles on it when I bought it but for some reason I still expected it to be reliable. Quite soon after I bought it I had a huge stereo put in it. And typically the stereo [or ICE as it was and possibly is still called] was worth more than the car. Little things began to go wrong quite quickly. The radiator blew, tyres began to wear in uneven ways and the battery was always flat. But hell, it went like stink compared to the Mini and the sunroof was the first I had ever seen.
Then the rust set in and I ended up re-spraying large parts of the car, myself, and the garage “Rosso Red”. Then one day a hose burst and I over cooked the engine; yeah I fried the head gasket like a sausage. It is fair to say I didn’t know much about the mechanics of a car up to this point, but I was learning fast. Once the head of the engine had been shaved I knew I had to get shut. The clock had already gone back round to 0 miles at this point but I couldn’t really afford to replace it [it hadn’t finished paying back the loan yet]. So I ran it for another six months and then sold it for £500. Whenever I have a dream about being in a car it is always this one, but strangely it isn’t my favourite...

Not your average Mk3, XR2 engine, road rally cams and aload of other gumf, I don't want to give away all her secrets!
She might be an old girl and her body needs a bit of love which isn't easy being a 4 door, but she still goes like you wouldn't believe!

We bought this car as a cheap run about. It cost us about £400 from the car auction. It was the 1.6 XR2i. Whoever owned it before us had fettled with the suspension. It handled great and the acceleration was fantasticFeb 24, 2008
