This is the car I wanted in high school. These cars are plentiful if you count the Camaro of the same generation and can be purchased for less than a big scene HD TV. Easy to work on for the most part, some clearance issues on the passenger side if the car comes with A/C. I would love to get a Camaro of the same gen but wife will not hear of it.Jan 31, 2015

My recommendation is to buy them while you can still find them. Great value for the money and they turn heads. Also, there are many aftermarket parts for cheap so maintenance is managable. Only issue is cheap plastic inside car.Mar 28, 2012

The car is fun to drive the performance is outstanding. The interior is completely redone. The car is actually completely restored from the front to back. The car is kind of a gas guzzler but its mainly used for pleasure. The car needs very little as far as maintenance, just change the oil and check the fluids everyday.Feb 22, 2012

This is an amazing vehicle. It RAN smoothly, but recently the timing chain went. Its in mint condition, needs paint job. Fast and loud. Handles great around corners. Best, most fun car I've ever had, hope to fix it soon.Mar 01, 2011

Appearance: Clear front and rear sidemarkers, Fiberglass stock spoiler
Cost of Ownership: Way too much.

built up motor, needs some work, looks good, 10 to the gallon lots of tuning, fun to drive, it wasen verry expensive when i bought it but like all built cars with more power then there susposed to they have then need work more oftenJul 22, 2010

in the process of building it, Hopefully it will turn out the way I hoped it would. So
far the power has shown through the rough exterior and it is a sleeper at the

It has a 350 in it. It needs a new wing. It has great handling performance and runs great. I have alpine speakers, subs, and head unit in the car. thats about all i know. Tires are expensive. Plus it does ok on fuel.May 29, 2010

It was a good 1st car and introduced me to the world of performance cars. The 2.8 liter although great in a 2800lb fiero, is a deadweight in a 3200lb firebird.
It looked sporty and again it was a head turner.
The interior was pretty basic, I got tired of the stock audio system and put in a aftermarket one.
Lots of squeaks and rattles and road noise, but I can forgive that to being a 20+ year old car.
Transmission went out on the interstate and it sat in the driveway for 3 months until it was fixed. When it was traded 2nd gear started to slip, and when braking the car veered to the drivers side abruptly, the alignment was either off or the disk brakes were worn/aligned bad.
I liked it at the time, but the car was all bark and no bite.
If anyone ever purchases a 3rd gen, do look past the 2.8 liter and carbureted 5.0 liter and either go straight the the 350cu GTA/TA or the 3.8 liter TTA.
If I were a betting man, this car is in a landfill somewhare, but this car did have a lot of centimental value and I do miss it....Mar 08, 2010

i bought this car for 3k, it was in immaculate condition, had a 2.8 v6 in it, and it would get up and move, but it wasnt a race car, fun to drive cuz it felt sporty but still got decent gas mileage. WONT STAND UP TO MY ABUSE!!! FORGET PEELING OUT AND DRIFTING!!!Aug 22, 2008

Fun. Loud! Slow. 170hp is not a lot for a V8. The 255lb foot of torque is enough to make you feel like you are moving fast. The five speed in it makes it feel a lot faster though. She is very fun to drive all in all. Once she gets some paint on her she will be pretty too!Aug 12, 2008

i loved this car. i only had a v6 in it and it had rust holes but it was fun to drive. had good handling when i was drifting in the snow. i would buy another one but i dont have the money for it h a h a a.Aug 05, 2008

Good car for a drag platform to build off but stock motor is dogged out with few usable parts, i had to replace the 305 with a 350 along with going to carb, new heads cam and intake manifold, rotating assembly coming soonJun 27, 2008

its a 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula. its black with a gold decal trim along the bottom. its gonna be kinda project car/ daily driver cause it needs some work but oh well. its got a newer 350 w/TPI injection with about 9k miles on it, its an auto (hopefully i can change that to a 6-speed). its got all power, such as windows, locks mirrors ect. T-Tops. also its got a completly restored interior with tan leather seats mixed some black here n there. also with all new memphis audio system, just needs a deck in it, also i plan on putting my pioneer subs in there too. oh n heres the kicker, it was all for $1850, thats right i said ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS.

This thing is a handful. It packs a fuel injected GM Performance motor w/ 350hp and 400 ft. lbs. run through a gearbox that wont downshift without serious work, back to a standard rear axle, out to $40 tires that won't grip. But it is an amazing feeling driving it.Apr 05, 2008

Its a great summer car, and i have also managed to drive it in snow storms haha wouldnt recomend it but i have. Its a fast car that looks great too. Sounds like a muscle car should with a nice V8 under the hood.Mar 04, 2008

My 1st car, loved it. It was a fixer-upper. I had lots of problems with it, but I loved working on it with my dad. It was in bad shape when I bought it, but dad and I almost had it up to showroom quality efore a girl in her mom's Lexis totalled it. Bad day, really bad day. Electronics were a real problem. Can't tell how often I had to get it jumped. Engine worked great though. Lots of fun, even if it wasn't a Trans Am. This picture looks a lot like the one I had, beautiful red paint job, head turner, even around the rich kids.
