I love Monte Carlos, until they became front wheel drive, and smaller. Even wrecked this car drives great, but being a LS it handles soft in corners, with a 305 it is a little under powered a nice fuel injected 350 would be nice, but when you build it your self you know what you have, this one has a 99% chance of being a parts car for my 1979 Monte with t-tops, sad really.Oct 25, 2010

Sbc are the best You can not beat them
Add Better heads and more cfm's makes them better
You can build more horsepower on a sbc cheaper then you can anything else
This car is a hoot to drive
CHEVY BUILD ONE TODAY!!!Oct 24, 2010

This is a current restoration project, the last year that the rear wheel drive SS built - car is all original with low mileage. I can't wait to finish it, wish I had way more time! Picture is way off base! Original powertrain - 305 high output.Aug 24, 2009

Performance - acceleration, breaking
Build Quality - solid, needed new heating core, bad ground wire on head lights, rattles
Appearance - exterior is sporty inside is conferable
Cost Of Ownership- Gas mileage, maintenance, snow tires if needed, bought for 8,000 dollars.
Fun Factor - very fun to drive, very fast, stands out in a crowd. Sep 23, 2008

This is an all around great car, its got a chevy small block, a 305 to be exact, its an LS but still has the 5.0L V8, and it sits on the SS Suspension. only 64,000 miles on it too! This car is a perfect first car for a guy like me.Jul 30, 2008

Loved this car from the moment I saw it sitting in the back of a car lot. 88,000 original miles. It sat in some old lady's garage and she drove it to get groceries and church. 5.0 liter 305 V-8. Not the greatest engine in the world, but if taken care of...does the job and puts a smile on your face. Mine was brown with a darker brown vinail top on the back half. Drove like a tank and if used for the fun of the engine you will feel it in your pocket when filling up at the gas pumps. I got 17mpg which i felt was great for the size. Like I said...very well taken care of when I purchased it. Ran like a top and gave me very little trouble. Carberator stuck a little and gave me a problem when making a left hand turn, which wasn't the best time, because some fantastic person speeding rear ended it and twisted the body. Being a uni-body it was done. Drove the car home just fine...didn't feel any shaking at all!!!!! AC got really cold. Very comfortable as well.Apr 25, 2008
