this is our daily driver. you don't see these big wagons on the road anymore and that's a shame. me and my gf think that these eighties gm wagons are the best cars ever made. you can get one with 1000 euros or less. the original oldsmobile 307 engine is a wimp but when all the electrical and vacuum-things are working it's got a really nice low-end torque and very good gas mileage. spare parts are cheap and you can get them everywhere. but most of all, these wagons are fun to drive even if it is just a family car. small history lesson: the reason finland has a lot of these wagons is because of taxes and registeration. from sixties to june of 1990 you could import a CARGO CARRIER completely tax-free! and what makes a car cargo carrier? the size of cargo space off course. and if the car weighted over 1800 kilograms the size didn't matter. so you could get these wagons with a price of toyota corolla. the limitations of cargo carriers were another thing. you could only have the front seat and top speed was limited to 80kmh (52mph). these was no speedlimiter onboard, just a sticker in the rear. from 1988 to june 1990 there was a law that allowed an additional rear seat of 3 people for TEMPORARY USE ONLY. the seat had to be in 90 degree angle and it couldn't be thicker than 5cm (2") and that 5cm means the building material, stuffing and upholstery. when the rearseat law was passed, they started importin these wagons like crazy. brand new buicks, chevys, olds and pontiacs were bought and rear seats ripped apart. the government stopped that crazyness in june 1990. today all of the cargo carrier, plankseat cars are shunned by the community and everyone thinks you should drive a corolla or a volvo and wear shellsuit. but not meFeb 21, 2013

I have only owned the car for only a week but the car was maintained well and looks great inside and out (great styling). No squeaks or rattles but sometimes has a noise from the distributor. The car was well built runs strong and the ride is smooth. Dec 11, 2010

pretty damn good, durable, dependable car. its lasted a long ass time with minimal repair, and for respectable investment. 500 bucks, 8 or 9 years ago? sure, its not very efficient, but I really am happy knowing when I floor it I pass things. quickly. a few weak points I guess would be outter door handles and why the hell did the designers put the verticle line between the front and rear side windows? if you note my picture- they've been hidden, somewhat.Sep 08, 2010
