Car always starts up first thing in the morning with little trouble, Acceleration is decent although you don't expect much from such a small engine. Handling is incredible and has no problems going around even the tightest turns at relatively high speeds. It is surprisingly rust free for a car from the 1980s and still has the original engine, although I did replace the transmission. It gets probably about 28 mpg and all I really have to do maintenance wise is change the oil regularly. It is a very fun car to drive and I often get thumbs up from people who see me driving.Sep 13, 2011

low speed but gives it good power, corners good but strut bearings go easy, brakes last forever....reverse gear rattles abit because it was used when we changed it over to a standard. floors last good in them and lots of space inside.Oct 23, 2009

acceleration, excellent now that there is more power
braking, needs some help in this department
handling, lowering is a must
build quality- have fixed all at minor cost from j/y
appearance- going for minimal interior, needs some body work
cost of ownership- make sure you meet all recommended filter/oil changes + preventive maintenance and you will be fine

Wow i got this car of my teacher Mr.Boonie from vo-tech and boy i loved this car... ugly as hell, slow as snot, road horrible but its got that vdub styling and reliablity that you can't beat... Used next to no gas and was 4 door so awesome for mall runs..Mar 24, 2008

Sweet torque, Its a non-turbo diesel, loud , gutless 120km/h top speed more horsepower than a ride on lawn mower, more torque than the average cavalier, makes for fun sliding in parking lots across alberta in winter. had skid plates, tough car, 475000 km, not burning oil 300 km a tank. 30$ fill, buying back from friend. rebuilding engine, painting it. either ford 302 or cummins b4, Feb 25, 2008

Of course it's not the most luxurious car in the world, but it has a great engine (in its level) and the combination between engine and weight is just what you want for a well balanced HP/Torque car.
