There's really nothing I don't like about this car... It's the MOST FUN car I've owned... Handles gravel and snow and ice covered roads like a hot knife through butter... Would love to convert mine to a VR6 2 L 16 valve but will come in due time.....Feb 26, 2012

i think that this car is so much fun. it has a little bit of speed to it. once you get
past a certain point its not as good. comparatively speaking. great for something
like autcross....super stiff suspension. love taking on the gravel roads...its super
controlled because of the short wheelbase and i love this car...engine has over

Like-Handles like a go kart, lots of aftermarket support, VW Scene is heady. The GTI was the first hot hatch, and it was one of the first cars to start the trend of performance oriented compact cars. The MK2 is arguably the best balanced chassis VW has ever produced.

Great car with moderate power. Also quite good handling abilities. Interior bit old fashioned, but the recaro seats were a plus. Maybe a bit expencive on a student budget, but if you don't floor the gas all the time like I do, then it's quite economic. Hoped for better ICE system. ;)Oct 26, 2008

Well for a 1986 car,the car is really spectacular, good handling, still running with new cars in its engine capacity class. Interior is lovely.The exterior is hot but built on 0% aerodynamics. Maintenance cheap as hell knows what. Extreeeemly fun car for the young peolpe out there thats wants to have fun...Sep 29, 2008

My car is super fun to drive. Its front wheel drive, which makes it very difficult to loose control of. It's been a pretty good car for being 22 years old, but every car has its problem. The car handles like a dream. With the suspension upgrade, and the cross drilled brakes it is so awesome! The car is a 4cl 8v motor, and does 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds, which is pretty fast for a 4cl. Jul 04, 2008

The car was a good basis for VW to build on. I never owned a 16V, but I heard the engine was a big improvement. I think in this day and age, it would be a vastly underpowered car, but also easily upgradeable. No computer to speak of so no chip to upgrade which would be a disadvantage. The 5spd was smooth though.Apr 23, 2008

not very fast, but it keeps up for what it is, this one was only the 1.8 model, fun cars to mess around with and whip around corners in but not so great when it comes to being reliable, cooling systems on these blow up like crazy.Dec 20, 2007
