Jeep is an American classic. The CJ series is the Icon of the Jeep lineage. All that came after were progressively more complex, heavier, less focused on being able to run across country and more focused on running across town. The CJ7 is the perfect balance between the sporty cross country 4x4, and the utilitarian go-anywhere and do anything truck. The great grandfather of all modern 4x4 SUVs.Aug 05, 2023

easy to build/ modify.
factory engine performace is ok to decent for the time, electronic carb leaves much to be desired relatively cheap to mantain but can easily get pricey once modifications have begun, but its the traditional Jeep thimg you wouldn't understandDec 16, 2010

It's basic. Tub on a frame, engine, 4 spinning wheels. Very simple machine, even more so than the old VW bugs. VW was simple to help fight a war, but the Jeep was more simple and DID win the war.Oct 21, 2009

almost 1/4 million miles and going strong! sure the body rotted away long ago and was replaced with a 4wd Hardware glass tub but the trusty 258 amc six has never let me down! and what better feelind than cruising the back roads with the doors off and top down!Jan 28, 2009

I had an AMC Jeep before the Chrysler buyout. I opted for a used CJ-7 for the longer wheelbase, as I did not want to contend with the shortened CJ-5. I had a canvas top and doors, and in inclement weather it became uncomfortable! But it was fun to drive, despite any other limitations it may have had.Apr 21, 2008
